polyop was formed in 2015 by producers jack driscoll, harry orso and visual artist and programmer alex kempton. since then they have been researching and developing a visual-audio experience that fuses nature and tribal culture with the machine. ceremony is the first exploration of that aesthetic, with their own take on acid house, they take the subject on a hypnotic journey through an alternate sonic-visual reality. kemp mutates ceremony into something between disco and techno, the kick and bassline thick and pulsing, whilst the percussion syncopates infectiously. the track progresses into a crescendo, which is amplified by the cavernous feel of the mix. this is certain to hypnotise 3am dancefloor-pagans into a state of worship.

second round for french in any case imprint, still keeping it chopped and dusty, celebrating the sound of the almighty rhodes electric piano through this 5 tracker wax slab. opening this release is the fashionable parisian tell with a cool house cut featuring some lush samples and a driving beat. following is the label co-founder g2s track amako blending a strong backbeat with a groovy bass and chopped rhodes sample closing a side with a neat library style feeling. we ve then got malouane (co-founder too) opening the flip with a trippy tune including melty percussions on top of a jungly bassline. succeeding, manuel nie from germany with a hip hop - house crossover, banging drums cutting through perfect rhodes samples. finally, ibn sabaa is closing the v/a with a mean head-nodding modern hip hop groove that will doubtlessly wreck your neck.

daydream 01 is the debut release of the daydream imprint – a brand new label based in france and focused on forceful groovy house exclusively on wax. the imprint seeks to offer an intelligent and efficient vision of house music in order to provide perfect dj cuts. this first ep delivers 4 original tracks produced by talents from france and germany. mjog launches the various with “be forgotten”, a beautiful journey balanced between deep synths and solid drums. then, with “eleven”, porter presents a raw and dynamic cut where harsh sounds and hypnotic pads play together on a sustain rhythm. on the flip, “future” from walker is all about dubby sounds, loud kick and deep bass, a very immersive homemade tune. finally, mjog closes this first chapter with “peace is at hand”, a classy and strong house cut designed for dance.

holland-based planet rhythm usuals dubiosity and pjotr g return to the imprint with a slice of wax that contains 4 delicate and deep cuts all with a corresponding melodious touch to it. “a man is no island” opens up the 4-track effort with heavy drums colliding with devious soundscapes and a heavy sense of adventure. “die in a forest” is a more traditional techno cut that revolves around a tough acid bassline intrusive synth bleeps and firm set of drums. “poisening the well” is a beautifully orchestrated dubbed out cut that goes into the more spaced out territories of modern day techno. “tears in the rain” is an emotive piece of music that thrives because of dramatic sounding pads and off beat drum patterns.

baertaub’s newest release wolke welcomes you with bazalt, a very tight and sharply shaped minimal techno track designed to awake your senses one by one from head to toe with small noisey cuts and bits that show their faces at certain times to draw a sonic geometrical map. next up is a relatively darker track rather than rain which again features those alien bits and is enriched with an unexpected and grande synth melody that somehow fits perfectly with the dark mood and alienating sound of the track. b side opens with the ztrl remix of bazalt which focuses on that witty geometrical face of the track and lifts it to an upper level with slowly building beats and hypnotizing loops. the ep closes off with the title track, wolke, which follows a very interesting trajectory: a tense sounding chord line is softened by a groovy bass and dubby touches and percussive samples which in the end provides an unexpectedly feel good ending to a positively minimal ep.

this record collects many intimate things and singular ideas about voiski, it is also an excellent synthesis of his musical style, and how it is evolving towards a more and more unknown territory, where his -post-trance- idea collides classic detroit influences, 90 s techno (with that underworld cover obviously) and a very unique sonic identity he has developed playing his synths with a bright and powerful sound design, and rich arpeggios.

andy compton, under his kick squad and the rurals aliases, delivers an ep of late 90s and early 2000s house jams for temporary state. modern sounding deep house vibes with deep undercurrents of dub and timeless house all merge together to form an essential slab of wax.

sometimes you can tell from the first listen of a recording that its creator has a totalizing vision that transcends time and genre. you will experience this rare sensation when you play panoram’s “a doom with a view”. the italian producer has tapped into a vein of surrealist sonic collage that s at once allusive and elusive. the album parades baffling micro-movements past your ears like a secret history of misunderstood musical remnants heard on damaged media formats, 50 years after a catastrophic disaster. it exposes continuity and logic as specious myths, jettisoning these vestigial elements in order to make space for a higher form of aural alchemy.

sensor001 kicks off with a massive 5 track ep from one of the label heads himself, brian sanhaji. road-testing those tracks in his highly recommended live set’s during the last months. ‚specular reflections’ seems to be straight out of his modular synth rack with raw, sonic sequences over bass heavy analog drumming. hard hitting, stepping techno to serve the dance floor.

the record opens up with the poisonous title-track “two scorpios”, where sharp analogue leads lean on a relentless disco-funk groove, thrusting us out straight against the sweaty walls of the chicago’s muzic box. the airy and enchanting spirals of “solenoid” create a detachment for a sonic trip through circling arpeggios and sparkles. on the flip side, we reconnect abyssy to the “young soulomon” of early 90’s by a warm and robotics dusty house. the mood turns definitely more freaky with “slomo kid”: sampling divertissement with a punkish flavour and emphatic rhythmics, it is the perfect tune to shake down the whole ball of wax.

we present the decay debut of tijn including a killer remix from pezzner. label boss of in haus wax & self titled tijn label, both vinyl only outlets, & digital label deep edition recordings, uk-born tijn has been making house records since 2007 as martijn but more recently as tijn taking a more direct analog approach in the studio. recently he has dropped a string of releases on labels such as overall music ltd isgud records & worx topping vinyl buzz charts on decks.de and making top ten in juno vinyl sales. 2014 saw tijn start his own eponymous label, with the first vinyl-only 12- release featuring french master djebali, being played by the francophone-trio apollonia also gaining support along the from tuccillo, ryan elliot and dj w!ld. an ccomplished producer as well as dj, tijn has played alongside renowned selectors like steffi, jordan peak, sossa and dyed soundorom, playing his own particular take on house and techno.

the latest in cold busted’s 7” series – featuring previously digital-only cuts now enshrined on wax – comes from accomplished polish beat-maker emapea. known for his contributions to the iwymi and bust free compilations as well as his widely lauded album seeds, roots & fruits, emapea has been recently selected for inclusion in mark farina’s next mushroom jazz installment. so the time is ripe to get funky and fresh with this prime beat-maker’s new 7” single. this one goes out to the b-boys, as “b-boy stance” grooves with its ‘70s-style car chase guitar, feet-shuffling rhythms, horn splashes, and energetic vocal drops. every b-boy needs a solid b-side, and here you’ll find “b-boy theme”. this one transports the floor to a raucous block party complete with breakneck scratches and energetic drum loops, alongside ‘70s funk flourishes that’ll get any private dick – who’s a sex machine to all the chicks – quickly moving his hips.

on this record we find kit geary & israel vines (here as kgiv) exploring the subtleties of slow change within a techno track with the outstanding heady mockingbird and through the rocker from fragments. the b side features an unsung hero of american techno borrowed language veteran jeff pietro with the sonic masterpiece of his hypnotic mockingbird remix.

the great upheaval is an imaginary soundtrack for every moment in history ravaged by violence and superstition. a collection of pieces projecting landscapes dusted by seizures and turmoils.
these layered compositions are packed of electricity and analogue walls, acoustic textures, drone strings and cinematic looped-movements. a sonic cathedral illuminated only by the fire that remains after battle and precedes the cult. a sonic miasma for each end of cycle.

as we get ready to seclude ourselves for another long winter, area provides the soundtrack. this ep is some of the most beautiful shit we ve heard in a long time. from late night meditative dancefloor bliss, to midtempo 4 to the floor sonic experimentation. so without getting too wordy, we ll leave these flowers right here, please don t let them dry.

originally founded by kisk back in 2009 apparel music set out to offer something truly singular in focusing their musical output predominately on jazz whilst venturing into its integration across the landscape of electronic music at the time.with a zealous release schedule, they racked up a healthy collection of eps between 2010-2015 from artists such as delano smith, scsi-9, sarp yilmaz and the label owner himself amongst many others. now after a year-long hiatus, the label makes a return with a slick 4-track va that fans both old and new will relish. strictly limited to a pressing of 200 on 180 grams of wax, their re-launch brings with it a jazz-suffused 4-track record featuring voyeur, ivano tetelepta & eugeÌne latumeten, kisk and kerem akdag. voyeurs swinging for theo kicks things off with organic, brushed drums and a walking bass line set off to a tight, swaying rhythm. glassy rhodes keys bleed into the mix ahead of piano stabs and 909 hats that propel progress when combined with a thickened low-end. ivano tetelepta & eugeine latumeten follow up with je suis reconnaissant a bass-heavy groove that lays soulful vocal samples over filtered piano chords and loose-limbed hat patterns. kisks just u then drives a crackly drum loop through distant, flexing synth tones. arresting vocal samples then take the foreground in a rich, smokey mix before istanbuls kerem akdags closes up the package. akin to the styles of producers such as henry wu and max graef, akdags friend melds playful drum patterns with thick chord stabs and smooth vocal lines that wrap up a stellar return for apparel music.

the difference is wildly spreading in thin red lines of flight, swerving clinamen forming groaning roots of sounds, shaking the soil deep down below, sparking clicking beams of ionizing fireflies. tangled growth of warping vines are trailing fickle melodies and repetitions through the undergrowth, gently thrusting trunks roar globular clusters into super-sonic implosion.
