favorite recordings proudly presents combattant, first ep by pat kalla produced by bruno patchworks hovart. pat kalla is a musician, singer and storyteller. patrice of his birth name, in tribute to the great lumumba! lover of words, french language, and music of course. born in lyon, from a cameroonian father, musician and political activist, and a french and literary mother, he explores from his childhood the soul, the slam, the funk and the art of telling stories, life being a great one. after years of touring alongside many bands (conte & soul, legend of eboa king, mento cloub, voilaaa sound system), and several acclaimed titles on the two albums by voilaaa, he comes back with this project to put a bit of primordial lightness in a rainy world: a tribute to the african culture in honor of a father with sawa origins, the tribe from the people of makossa. jojo ngallé, moni bilé, pain, manu dibango, franco, rochereau, kabasele, fela, françois nkotti & the black style, all these legends vinyls have turned on the family turntable and the collection has whetted the child s appetite. through this new trip, he revisits styles that are sometimes little known to western audiences, such as high-life, makossa, angolan music, afrobeat, afro-disco and others. we could talk about franc cfa, we could talk about jacques foccart, but we will rather dance, because -the dancer seems naive, but his feet must be connected with earth to understand history backed by the super mojo disco, a hyperactive band from lyon with deep groove and positive energy, pat kalla offers us an anti-crisis project, where swaying and feel-good humor is mandatory! an album soon in the crates, beware cest medicament

for the next release on rødhåd s wsnwg imprint the label head invited berlin based producer and live performer peryl to his studio for various sessions between february and august of 2023. the result is kallait - five deep, driving techno cuts.

this vinyl contains analog live one-takes by dj lily, recorded during april to june 2023 in gothenburg.

lilies (gothenburg, se) starts a new vinyl series focused on techno made with the bare hands: lilieskalla. on the first record, dj lily presents five all analog creations. the sequences are one-take live recordings, shaping a stripped down and slowly changing sound based on a buchla 208c.

kalita records are proud and honoured to announce the first ever and official reissue of kallaloo�s sought-after 1982 disco single �star child�, accompanied by interview-based liner notes. originally released on jeffrey turpin�s trinidadian record label ida, �star child� has since become highly sought-after by both djs and collectors alike as an invisible, yet astonishing piece of caribbean disco. unable at the time to gain the traction and success that it deserved, we hope that this re-release provides an opportunity to bring such a great record to a much wider audience.

shakarchi & straneus are faik and daniel, two bffs from gothenburg who are making some of the most catchy, emotional and well crafted dance music we have heard in a long time. both had been involved in music for a while when they started working together at their hometowns top tapas joint, manana. in between washing dishes and serving patatas bravas, the boys would burst out short tracks and sound experiments in the makeshift studio they had set up inside mananas cloakroom. this led to a debut 12 inch on malmo based geography recordings and now comes their five track ep >dodskallar och korallrev<: studio barnhus second release, the best swedish house record since jesper dahlbacks >what is the time mr. templar?<, something we are immensely proud of being able to release.

repress - pursuing their explorations in the vast corridors of international funk and disco music, favorite recordings and bruno patchworks hovart present us voilaaa. with this first single composed of 2 tracks that clearly reveal the afro-disco inspiration of this new experience, favorite also expands its new series of disco 12inch singles recently launched with several fine reissues, but this time with one of its special homemade production recipe. under the imprint of the label and after their long years of collaboration in the achievement of projects such as the dynamics, mr president, mr day, patchworks galactic project, or taggy matcher, the insatiable french producer therefore returns to his first love and specialty, disco music, staring this time at the african and caribbean influences. indeed, as everywhere in the 70s and 80s, funk and disco movements were extremely influential in these regions, and in most cases, the combination of the festive, yet sometime futile nature of disco, and the instinctive, deep, sometimes rough nature of african music, sounds like a perfect balance. aiming to find back this energy and specific sound, patchworks quickly began producing a few tracks, using his unique and ruling beats and bass lines as foundations, this time he dresses all with guitars, keyboards and brass distorted with vintage and diy effects pedals and boxes. with a very dynamic music scene around him in lyon, where there is no shortage of artists with african origins, he decided to surround himself with singers from the region, even if it means to accompany them on unusual musical paths. a more than successful bet with a result surprising of authenticity, as it�s unveiled by these first two titles alongside sir jean and pat kalla, both from a musical background as rich than different. with an album planned for the end of the year, that promises to be as explosive and magnetic, patchworks and favorite recordings make a strike again and confirm them a little more if needed, as the true warrant of the modern dancefloors loyalty, to the spirit of their mythical ancestors
