>i am ok<, reads the title of the new album by the berlin-based producer, dj and label-owner oliver koletzki. the heading0s ambiguity is, of course, deliberate: theres a deeper meaning hidden behind the humorous facade that is chrisse kunsts hand-drawn cover, which depicts an unadorned thirteen-year-old oliver sporting nerd glasses and a striped jumper: i am oliver koletzki, raw and authentic. because musically, on his fifth studio album, oliver koletzki looks towards the unaffected freshness of back in the day, and thus, consciously returns to his roots.

the constant state label launches in style with a record from ian blevins & phil moodys al gobi outfit, who had something of a breakthrough 2013 with releases for disco bloodbath, rothmans, culprit la and audio parallax. while the original mix of a cup of tea is dark and unsettled - beautifully balanced bass notes and piano cutting through heavy, storm-pregnant air, cottams accompanying remix is the distillation of a second wind. his tribal, twisted, acidic treatment of this 3am concrete bunker anthem never overwhelms the piano refrain, instead giving it a new life, like the ghost of a party suddenly bequeathed fresh purpose as tired legs find boundless energy.

in the eighth release from detroit ­based underground techno record label blank code, audio injection provides three well­crafted tracks in the style he has become widely known for. with this ep, audio injection cements himself as a cornerstone of blank code after previously offering up a remix on bcr001 mutate circle 1 & his original version of null on bcr005.

after the very successful foray into split eps, luv shack records continues to explore this concept with luv013. the ep sees upcoming duo space echo make a return after their smash hit -soul power-, while the b-side is conducted by wahlberliner rotciv. -come back home-, the opening track by space echo, is a slowly building but effortlessly captivating piece of hypnotic house music with a raw funk attitude. the gently evolving synth line and the strong vocal hook are the spine of this anthemic track. the seemingly laid back -hangover- just oozes b-movie sleaze and might be space echos little hommage to 60 s lounge music, with an array of distorted guitars and soft pads coming to good use. that is until the synth theme kicks in mid-track and turns the piece into a late night weapon.

wolfram says: i started to record the track cant remember when i was in africa and some riots happened in egypt in 2013. it was a weird time so it turned out to be a dark tune with robotic vocals. i recorded the vocals for the track talking to you when i was on tour with andy butler in the hotel room on my macbook air. basically its him saying this beat is talking to you and i recorded some burp sounds on the flight and train home. i invited him to my home studio to change the demo vocals, but he felt asleep on the chair next to me. so, i thought maybe i should just the use the demo macbook vocals.

new jerseys finest returns to ovum alias free. having been contractually locked down in 2011 harry romeros previous philly outing came under his secretive vaggio pseudonym. the air of mystery surrounding the artist frustrated and excited in equal measure and yet refreshingly freed the ep of any preconceptions. this was after all a debut release, right? the response was overwhelming and lit the touch paper for what was soon to be harrys return to his beloved raw house beats.

jbla came into being after julian jöckel (midnightopera) and stuart argabright (ike yard, black rain, o13) performed at a party in brussels on the 5th of oct. 2012 on invitation from bernardo risquez & michael langeder (different fountains). they all had met for the first time the year before through michael kreitz from meakusma when different fountains & o13 played concerts in eupen. after staying at different fountains studio the day after the brussels event they set up a rather improvised jam session. julian played synth on a yamaha dx7, bernardo worked the low frequencies on an old eminent organ while michael contributed machine sounds and took care of the live fx engineering. stuart put together some words and brought a beat to the occasion of the jam session at the df studio. during the short euro tour with ike yard, l.i.e.s label head ron morelli and artist svengalisghost came to the paris show and were talking with stuart about the streetwalkers of belleville, specifically the sad chinese hookers out on the street. combined with news about recent foxxconn workers suicides in china and witnessing altercations close to the air bnb where he stayed. the belleville ep are two cuts from that session with remixes from ron morelli + svengalisghost and vereker, pressed on translucent vinyl.

bruno patchworks hovart is definitely a name to remember if youre interested in todays groove music scene. after playing as a bassist and guitarist for various bands, he started producing in the mid-nineties and has kept on mixing todays technologies with the raw spirits of house, electronic, disco, funk, soul & jazz musics golden years since then.

a column of bull ants moves across the rain forest floor, constantly moving limbs shift like the tidal flow of a river. each carries a large bright leaf in its mandibles maybe twenty or thirty times its size. the column swerves around a tendril-like air duct that services a chamber below. one strays too close and slips down still carrying its leaf. it flies down the air pipe and is projected into the interior of an anechoic chamber. beads of sweat ooze down bintus grizzled brow as he continues experiments into noiseless ultra bass. if applied correctly this acoustic energy can have devastating effects.
