we stood on the edge of forever. one final dream into time. a silent voice in an empty room. the numbers, we never truly knew. by now, producer 3six has collated an impressive amount of releases on his own self-titled imprint, and it feels like about time he was scouted by a label like mystic & quantum, who are making strides in their development as quality issuers of fine ambient music. second & forever- comes in two parts: the a-side is mellow and soothing, the sort of music you d feel absolutely fine leaving on in the background for hours on end, while the b-side is more involved and more acoustically demanding thanks to a delicate morphing of sinewaves and pads.

all good things take time, aussteiger said once. and indeed, it took a serious amount of time to get everything set for what soon will be known as dub disco s first release! we’ve been digging deep inside his tune collection. not only to make sure that the first three-tracker is a belter, but that it also showcases exactly the kind of musical approach we wanted as our personal imprint: to hell with a boring and homogeneous release that only represents one genre! we were looking for something that stands for itself, something that tells a story, something that is representative for what the artist stands for in a musical sense. and after a tedious quest, we carefully curated something we think is dope! kicking off the number one is a track disclosing the joint forces of berlin-based collective of musicians los wawis and aussteiger s capabilities as a remixer. here appears a psychedelic version of the track, which is carried by gentle guitars, a dubby bassline as well as the funky-trippy synthesizers that usher a tropical vibe onto the dancefloors. the starter on the flip is entitled “heimat” and comes around as a melancholic interpretation of aussteiger’s time in exile, a period that enabled him to craft his very own style. there is not much to say about this bomb that the ear doesn t catch instantly: this one is an honest earworm, with it s irresistibly arranged horns and a pervasive and driving bassline. to finish everything off, we went for a nasty banger, that carefully blends different aspects of the raving side of dance music. the electrifying broken beat and it’s haunting bassline are blended with an intense influence of acid.

this is the phase ii ep of leo anibaldi variations. after evocation ep with sebastian mullaert (minilogue) realized on cannibald records, for the a side leo has proposed markus henriksson (minilogue) to create a new version of (always from reality) a track coming from the album cannibald realized in 1992. for the b side leo has involved donato dozzy to create a new version of aeon fusion 1 (1994) wich is a very particular tracks for thoose years considered by the statistics as one of the key tracks before the advent of dub dark techno music. the project will be out 1st july on cannibald records strictly on vinyl.

gouru is launching its own label, submersive, with an ep from brendon moeller aka. echologist, including a remix from french duo hbtvsk (voiski & heartbeat).in 2014, to celebrate the 4th birthday of the webzine gouru, brendon moeller and hbtvsk were invited to play at la machine du moulin rouge (paris). following a car accident on his way to the airport of new york, brendon was unable to appear and play. to make up for this unfortunate incident, gouru offered brendon the inauguration of its new label submersive, and invited heartbeat & voiski aka hbtvsk, the duo he was supposed to share the stage with, to remix one track. 2 years later, the first ep of the label gathers all 3 artists who were not able to share the decks on stage, on the same record. as brendon himself says , “all good things take time” and instead of evoking the nostalgy of a party that did not happen, the record opens the doors of the imagination and takes us to a powerful collaboration between 2 artists’ generations, thereby showing us the techno scene at its best.zur opens the ball and sets the tone of the ep, a dub and progressive rise, based on a cyclic structure, punctuated by a random reverb. tension is maintained throughout and finally leaves room to filth, whose rhythm is faster, unrestrained, yet keeps an air of suspense and unpredictability - the perfect soundtrack for an exhausting race. looking for trouble plays on a more hypnotic side. with a dark yet electrifying atmosphere, rhythms are exalted by a strident and piercing melody, evolving alongside uncontrollable sounds, throwing us straight into a cosmic trip. faithful to the spirit of the ep, the filth remix delivered by hbtvsk is a perfect exercise of style. without denaturing the original track, the remix revisits it. its’ heavy, powerful mechanism is, at the same time, accurate and sharpened. certain parts of the original track are easily recognizable, which finally get lost in the subtle gearwheel of an anthem tinted by noise.

one of the founding members of apollonia, shonky was responsible for his label’s very first release back in 2012 with ‘the minneapolis touch’. outside of working on the trio’s debut lp ‘tour a tour’, shonky has been relatively quiet on the solo tip. here on apollonia’s 25th release we’re treated to four new cuts from the berlin-based parisian, kicking off with plombie&#768,,re (plumber in english). shonky injects a variety of unusual sounds, which revolve around a jaunty bassline, while voices dip in and out of the background, repeating the mantra ‘house music’ together with other difficult to decipher vocal clips. the track has a catchy rhythm that bounces along with aplomb. up next ‘house me’ is a sleazy, mischievous cut with a deadly low end and a seductive vocal that urges you to ‘house me’. as the bassline rumbles, high pitched effects add a hypnotic element to the track. badboy business.on the b-side we have ‘perchee’, which is powered by cleverly layered percussion, which is almost ‘live’ sounding. another one of those ‘shonky’ basslines gets us straight into the groove, with utterly contagious beats – this is one to shake the dance floor down its core. finally, ‘cosmopolis’ has that inner city realness flowing through with the chatter of a street corner in the background, a killer b-line and one of those classic vocal samples that is oh so familiar and gets you nodding your head as soon as you hear it. and there it is, four dance floor cuts with plenty of depth and groove in true shonky style… c est formidable!

out electronic recordings introduces the second installment of different seasons various artists series after kicking off the first one with tracks from fabrizio lapiana, regen, civilian and limo back in january 2015. out-er sets ‘different seasons vol.2’ as the twenty-first vinyl release on its way – as the first volume, the record embraces melodic techno tracks and introduces new and old faces to the roster. on a side attic music boss fabrizio lapiana appears on out-er again offering ‘square’, then the experienced dj luciano esse offers ‘the call’ following to his very first ‘the green ep’ released on the italian label back in 2012. flipping the record over on b side and lachriz’ comeback on out-er sees the debut of his moniker ‘farron’ with the ethereal cut ‘travelling through your mind’ – while the newest artist on board hydergine provides a dub techno journey opting for a swinging, fresh piece typical of his production imprint.

toms due is talented duo from etruria beat crew, they re now back once again on their home label with two bangers urania and caliope and two remixes. one from nina kravizs trip label young protégé nikita zabelin, the second from micol danieli, italian newcomer artist and owner of 030s vinyl record label. on the a side sit the two original tracks. urania is composed of a powerful techno groove on a simple but strong chord fitting perfectly on the climax of the middle of the track. second comes calliope, a toms due signature heavy rhythm with a happy techno synth melody, a must try for all dancefloors. on b side, nikita zabellin shows once again his minimal approach, pure analogue sounds with a bit of darkness. mico danielis chose to use a never ending rhythm that wont ever leave you alone, a very elaborate arrangement. keep an eye on this italian lady producer!

how to introduce the first record by wolfgang tillmans? now considered one of the most significant visual artists working today, his very first passion in life lay with music. this record features on its b-side three songs recorded in 1986 in his home town of remscheid. the a-side features two pieces recorded in 2015/2016.

bar musica is a brand new label that promises to inject plenty of charm and originality into the underground house and techno world. the first release kicked up quite a storm from label owner bartolomeo, and the second release features a trio of great originals by j paraguai, with a remix from long time electronic talent bruno pronsato. rumba is up first and is a full fat, corrugated house track with tribal percussion, punchy drums that swing down low and afro vocals. it is a dynamite groove with roughshod tin pot hits that are carefully treated and bring a lovably wild side to the track. thesoundsays founder and berlin based new yorker bruno pronsato has been on the fringes of the underground for more than a decade with inventive eps and lps on labels like hello? repeat and bosconi. his remix is stripped back to a forceful and rubbery techno groove. blistered synths rip up the middle and spooky voices, trippy effects and manic loops all make it a freaky late night or after-hours tune that will send floors wild. ble is then another j paraguai, and this one is again unhinged and urgent, with intense synths exploding above shuffling, tightly knotted minimal drums and sweeping pads. it’s pure wtf music for brave djs and dancers and is a truly original production. then last original atles is rugged and impactful in the way in combines house and techno into new ideas. it is stripped back to little chopped loops that bury deep in your brain and have you in a trance in no time. as such, it rounds out a fine ep and keeps this exciting new label going off in great style.

after putting the band on the map with their first ep two years ago, the band feathered sun has grown into a life of its own. the more live sets they have played, the better they have defined their style. they are spearheading a brand of sound healing music abstractly narrative, always poetic, sometimes flirting with darkness but always perfectly produced to carry the audience into their own world. feathered sun are the collaborative experiment of nu, jo.ke, raz ohara, chris schwarzwaelder, iannis ritter and acid pauli johannes laumer. each have active and flourishing solo artist careers, albeit still have time to collaborate with one another. the six-strong collective are a close-knit troupe who are primarily based in berlin and lima, peru. live improvisation is ultimately what brought the feathered sun project to life - they are open about their laidback, impromptu approach and this is apparent throughout this ep. side a was primarily crafted in peru by chris schwarzwaelder and jo.ke with raz ohara’s mesmerising vocals. the end material was then sent to nu in berlin who crafted two tracks out of it. the ‘bulbo’ ep shows a willingness to explore different approaches within the collective and the music showcases their long-standing affiliation. it is a downtempo ep that has immaculate instrumentation, dreamy pads and brooding vocals throughout. this is intertwined with organic sounds and moody atmospheric melodies, gives the release a timeless and emotive ambience.

shlomo opens the ep with a deep and droning, yet uptempo track. ben gibson continues on the a-side with a synth and tom-driven track, in which the main synth really draws you into the track. takaaki itoh is put on the b1 spot and continues the deep vibe the artists set on the a-side, yet in a more minimalistic way. his track keeps on evolving and growing ever more, while the track in it s core does not change that much. overall severity closes the ep off with a moody banger. this dance floor oriented track focuses on percussive elements and the drums a lot. this track is one of the last ones made by the late max_m, who formed overall severity together with wrong asessment, which makes this ep a little bit more special. four different artists, but a great sounding ep with four tracks that compliment each other really well!

following his acclaimed north bend album of 2015, chris roman, known as 214, is back on shipwrec with the third in their series of single sided odysseys. a haze of bass descends for -i see what you did there-, a clipped drizzle of percussion falls before thick acid bars tremble into position. echoes, reverb and decay merge, groan and bend as the preconceptions of ambient, electro and techno are pulled apart. in one breath dense and complex, the next grooving and future funk dipped. an epic example of 214 s talent. single sided 12- with a silkscreen printed b side. limited to 250 copies on transparant vinyl.

british art-rock band no-man (tim bownes & stewen wilson w mick karn, richard barbieri, steve jansen, ben coleman) recorded heaven taste in the studio sessions in summer 1992. it got first released as a complete 21 mins version on painting paradise ep on one little indian (1993). the track drew attention in the rising ambient techno scene and got played by djs like mixmaster morris. the track fuses ambient techno with art rock and features a distinctive fretless bass solo by mick karn. this super sound 45rpm 12- features a steven wilson edited 11.21 mins version of the original and on b-side jimi tenor s rearrange with some solos with flute and keyboard. file under: ambient techno

london based imprint bordel ensemble (limited series only) is back after one year with yet another ep by lodee gruv, alias of one of the label’s founder. the second release is stamped 003 as the bordel002 will be a compilation of music by all the artists of the label coming out later in 2016. two side / three tracks ep. on side a, lodee gruv confirms once again his style with an atmospheric raw and floor friendly 8 minutes rhythm . on side b he takes it up a notch with 95% analog generated drums and baseline groove toped by a progression of 3 notes sample melody leading to an slightly emotional pattern. the second track of side b is a lodee gruv signature, deeper and tripier somehow with samples twicked into different elements backed up by a gimmick changing low end drums. definitely a journey into lodee gruv’s mind and bordel ensemble spirit.

our fresh outing for kid caprice ep sees another new face join the dirt crew/ spiel family. our latest artist discovery is bal 5000 out of budapest, hungary. coming from a diverse genre background, his sound ranges from disco to techno, tastefully touched with indie and balearic. the title track, for kid caprice heralds a soulful bass line, easy house stabs, light hearted keys, gently swung percussion and sparkling disco licks, this ones a soundtrack for traversing the cosmos or blissfully swaying on a dance floor. dub version steps the energy up a notch. with its growling lead and steady lathered groove this one is wide and warm. on the b-side, farewell my lovely is melancholic yet uplifting, eerie synths sing over positive key hits and its lithe melodic lines playfully interact with the rolling bass giving this one a live synth-pop feel. wake up! its monday! is bouncing and joyous with a chunky bass at its core. a queasy lead wraps around the central ideas while rising arpeggios elevate the mood. finally, as digital only track, cop is a pumping italo influenced house jam brightened with classic disco elements. boasting a self assured bass and gritty rumbling analogue synths, this one is right at home under the lights.

monoton ‘monotonprodukt 02’, also known as mp02, is the debut album of austrian electronic maverick konrad becker. out in 1980 it was a precursor of the minimal techno dub sound that was starting to be popular more than 15 years after. the album has been reissued by desire a couple of years ago and a new pressing is in the work. anyway it’s time to launch a remix ep with new (and not so new) producers giving crédit to the work of the austrian master. on the a side we find 3 new artists paying their dues : sergie rezza, whose debut album out on desire was critically acclaimed, abdulla rashim (abdulla rashim records / northern electronics / semantica) and also opal tapes’ boss stephen bishop own basic house. the b-side is a great megamix of the album tracks by the one and only ambient/electronica veteran scanner !

reissue of one of amsterdam’s most respected producers steve rachmad aka sterac s essential 1996 detroit style techno classic. remastered and housed in full color artwork. tip! originally released on stalwart dutch techno label, 100% pure (then entitled primus / osirion), this one has been getting plays by a fresh new wave of deep digging djs over the past years. this timely re-issue was needed. the a side osirion, is built on a classic drum loop layered with rachmad style arppegiators and euphoric strings. the b side features a more abstract 909 detroit infused loop, full of heavy synths and percussion. both tracks have stood the test of time and sound fresh as ever.

last year saw the mysterious garage shelter make their debut appearance on skylax, and little is still known about them! all we know is they are back with some freshness on the skylax classic sublabel. first up is bring back love, a track that will sink its claws in with that infectious vocal sample hook. sticking with the old school sample vibe is the lonely heart dub of attempt, it’s a bit more mellow but still has plenty of groove in it. friend of the garage shelter, dj la foudre, appears over on the b side with it’s alright (signal st mix). still on that catchy sample tip, it features one of the grooviest bassline and funky guitar pairings i’ve heard in a long time. next up, perception 66 is a smooth house affair from yet another friend, asa no hikari. rounding out the package is garage shelter’s own you (still), a dreamy pad-driven track that may indeed be the pick of the release. while we don’t know much about garage shelter, we can’t help but look forward to what they come out with next!

powerdance is a collective formed by luke solomon and nick maurer formed as a reaction to bland soul less dance music that seems to infiltrating nightclubs the world over. luke and nicks comradely stems back many many years to their association with the classic music company a label formed by derrick carter and luke. nick maurer was one half of the then prolific greens keepers. this ep for optimo trax features the wigged epically funkoid gem mysterious space plane who doesn t like songs about space? on the other side is the modern hyper jacking more fire. alongside these are a reprise of mysterious space plane and a bonus beats of more fire for those djs who like to, are able to get creative with their mixing

future times is very happy to announce a new record from rbl, who we haven t heard from since his 7- for ft (the second-ever release on the label) about 7 years back (!).tip once again the songs are split up into dance and romance sides, on the dance side we have -frequency illusion,- a glorious slap of vibro-house for the deejay crew, coming in hot like a rugged pal joey tune, and on the romance side we have the slow hypnotic funk of -number games,- complete with dope mantra vox and italian slo-house chug. this one is a doozy!!

the new release from help presents works from various help-releated artists. another release from the arhus-imprint that doesn’t directly state club-proof, but still, this one wouldn t mind having a spin or two by your local dance pusher.the opening track is by central, a ripe house tune with both melodies and good-vibes - probably the closest this young man has come to making an anthem. next up is the four piece group maizena with an ambiguous rhythmical ambient-house jam from the area of denmark with the least rainfall. on the b-side you’ll find a raw and to the point recording of dj sports and c.k joining ph 1 in his throwback techno-studio in the suburbs of arhus. next up is the long awaited debut from manmade deejay, who has been cooking a floating rhythm jam for this 5 course meal of modern danish cuisine. last but not least amsterdam-based kaap joined central on a fine day at rubber studios to create this dreamy and galloping ride. all in all this genuine piece of wax is filled with local devotion and love from the help-crew. thanks for the support!

the second release in this series starts with the heavily supressed and hypnotic energy of efdemin’s spiegelkerker remix on side a. creating a dreamlike atmosphere, the track is carried by a slowly developing beat that keeps you totally engaged as it floats along. as a contrast, psyk’s remix of miscellanous pt.7 on b1, with its classic 909 drum appeal and engrossed pad harmonies, creates a very deep classical vibe worthy of a black dog reference. the final track, a remastered version of morgenstern’s return of the living deaf presents its pleasantly over-funked snare programming and build-ups that forge “true techno” eclecticism and dance floor functionality into one mighty laser sword of a track. limited to 300 copies

holiday 80s sophomore whiskey disco ep exhibits the upward trajectory of the mysterious polish duo. their first ep showcased slower, smoother sounds, whereas these four songs showcase the grittier side of polish music, one slightly less fashionable, until now. each song is dance-floor-proven to turn out. from the sexy psychedelia of truncheon man and male jeziora to the left-ward jazz house of juhas zmarl and fm cool of letnia milosc. many wd buyers thought their first ep to be finest record on the label, get mokotuff before it s gone too.

tominori hosoya is the project of japanese track-maker tomi chair and for the past years he s been on a steadfast journey in the land of soulful house. his most recent offering on mixxrecords entitled life goes on ep includes four tracks, three originals and one brothers vibe remix. starting off with over the sadness, the first piece is a laid back groove with a solid bass backbone animated by classic house hi-hats. strategy meeting gets peppered with wobbly synths, giving the cut a seemly acid vibe against a steady percussive background. with 32-33 (one decision), tominori delves into his tribal side, keeping the focus on exotic drum patterns. the dreamy synth melody provides a contrasting yet fitting backline. for his remix of strategy meeting, brothers vibe goes full force and turns the track into a peak time floor killer, with a hypnotic percussive line, a solid project for certain!

lizards are lee forster (1/3 last waltz) and james hadfield (the mainstay of the elizabeth collective). taking over a full side, and clocking in at over 9 minutes, anthemic understatement is a very difficult trick to pull of, but the deepness of feel here, coupled with the restraint shown in rhythm and melody, allows the track space to ebb, flow and truly get under the skin of the listener. it s one of those rare tracks that are as equally beautiful as they are danceable international track lives up to it s name, seeing the north eastern english producers channel the japanese take on the balearic sound as heard in productions by artists such as cosmes.

the return of faetch - four tracks of real 2016 techno earwiggle is the irish techno label from sunil sharpe following the earth-shifting faetch 1, which was played by practically every techno dj worth their salt, tibetan entity faetch returns for the next part in the ongoing saga. sturdy, rolling drums and fiery vocal bursts on jeidge signal early chaos on the a-side, moving onto the pure techno funk of wershif - a definite ear wiggler if ever we heard one. on the b-side faecel is tense, more heads-down fare, not at all dissimilar to cari lekebusch s classic early drumcode material. closing the ep is cargoe , where jittery broken rhythms ricochet off rave stabs and echoed vocals & sound fx. another crucial faetch four-tracker here, for fans of inventive dancefloor techno.

benales opens the e.p. with radiate, a track where you can clearly hear his influences of the american school of 90s minimal techno. long time dj but new on the production side, this is benales first effort on vinyl. after his initial masterpiece on knotweed records (kw006) and a handful of releases on demented (hiss 1992) and krill, opuswerk is back on knotweed with displacement, a trippy, hard hitting, analogic techno attack: no concession on this one! gonzalo md has already delivered the goods on both knotweed (kw004 and kw011) and decision making theory (dmt 006), as well as a fantastic ep recently on extrasolar. here, with sharp oscillation, he keeps developing his unique style, producing a highly percussive, almost samba-like, piece of techno. label owner philippe petit closes the e.p. with indian summer, a track moving along a warm bassline, bearing some recognisable krautrock influences.
