paragraph number 3 delivers some deep, bass-heavy electronic funk on the a-side, with one note samba . grooving from the off-set, the percussive elements of the track wind around a solid and heavy sub bass, introducing dubbed-out horns reminiscent of slam s freelance science days. hypnotic and tripped out, slam return to their house roots.
on the aa room 2 , dedicated to one of the world s best clubs, fabric, where slam hold a residency, keeps with the stripped-down, rhythmic and gritty sound of paragraph. whilst constantly fluctuating echoes and delays control the rhythm of the track, a swirling, yet straight to the point synth creates some frenzied and panic-inducing builds throughout, leading to a wholesome and satisfying ride cymbal. room 2 is a killer, peak-time track that will be sure to induce some serious convulsions on dance-floor.

the make up the break up is the first release on bruno pronsatos own thesongsays label. its the longest track in his catalog (38 minutes), and an even deeper excursion into his stylized harmony. this track was originally a track uncompleted while making, æwhy cant we be like us. revisiting it roughly a year ago, bruno began to reword it. what began as simple attempt to create an ep track out of it became a monster. what monster you ask? in a few words, the monster that is brunos love of musicality and sound design. muscially speaking, we are on a ride somewhere between a slithery house track and a drugged out night out in chelsea, new york in the 60s - and thats a good thing because we get the entirety of the ride: the ups, the downs, the clouded mentality, the broken heart and perhaps the mended one. its happy, its sad - its something that you can dance to, but most importantly, its music that we think you can revisit for many years, as it somehow reflects us, our lives. a playful and extended journey through love and disaster, or at least the soundtrack to it.

sven tasnadi is a producer who, with every release, audibly and gracefully takes his style down the many different avenues of house and techno cityà his latest, brave work for poker flat then could perhaps be described as a midnight drive down main street, tempted by and lingering at some of the darker side streets, yet journeying on regardlessà.! its a fantastic ride from tasnadi, that sees two versions of the title cut plus a perfect b side track included for good measure. >habanero< is a tough, tracky concoction of thick bass led percussion, warbling, building sci-fi synths and classy hi-end hats. the unmistakable groove begins low and simply builds upwards, creating a 10 minute cabride through ultra-modern tech house, cuba style! we wont spoil the fun with the tingling breakdowns key momentà but theres also a (without trumpet) version on the b1à.! carrying on the chunky, dramatic vibes, >piri piri< dubs things out as a blissful and unique synth line carries this beautiful journey track along its honest and respectful path. a wonderfully resolute deeper moment from tasnadi, the phasing vocal stutters and pads play together with the central in delightful harmony, reminding us of the producers ear for touching and timeless arrangements

after a winter break and a with new focus on original and forward thinking house, boe is back for 2009 with one of the hottest detroit artists to break onto the scene in years. kris wadsworth is a man who truly has his own unique production style. for years the term minimal has been banded about for music with little soul, originality and that essence of dance music, a groove. kris is a guy whose interpretation of minimalistic music oozes all of these qualities and much, much more, stripped down, funked up house that takes the listener back to when house was raw, full of energy and brimming with soul. his production resembles that of an early herbert, crunching and twisting his way though drum samples and polished chords to create a sound that is simple and intoxicating yet difficult to copy. less, it seems, is most definitely more. dig is kris first four-track ep and showcases his sound through four slices of deep, groovy late night house. the first track the depths of is kris sound summed up in just under nine minutes. the first three minutes belong to a long intro that builds and builds through vox snippets, stab samples, synth chords and h-hats that ride the groove. the track breaks down only to kick back in with a chunky snare and trippy pads to whip the listener into a frenzy. macrotones is a wonky late night rhythm synth track that wouldnt sound out of place at fabric at 7am. on the flip, white bread kicks off where the depths of left off, a catchy rhythm with swinging stabs and moody chords. a growling, gut-moving baseline makes the track a real dance floor favourite. the final track on the ep is haunted house a deep houser with a delayed bassline perfect for those late-night moments.

abusing our soft side for dub edgar 9000 gave us these compelling tracks.>play me minus three (patience vs. epiphany mix)< û what starts like a nicely arranged minimal tune bubbles and billows after a short pause up to a big ride on the acid-dub-ghost-train. at the latest when the decently deployed and gated french horn pad sets in on the second half you are completely lost. not for quick peep û but beware: danger of addiction of endless playing is definitely given.meanwhile the title >hook & bait< of the b-side rather reads like the basic principle of fishing. it really sounds like the classic principle of ambient à well almost, since in this case this ambient track is drifting along itself, underlined with a straight driving and floating rhythm fed by an earthly bassline.petri heil! tokyo based synth outfit trans of life shows some true talent on this double sided single. their productions combine some amazing sounds as wholesome 4/4 house, deep electronic overtones, chill jazz, and latin melodies. foi voce (tol vocal) has lovely portuguese verses & melodies sung by yukiko koga. this is a full on vocal mix chill enough for the lounge and fancy enough for a 5 star dining hall. their dubs go a bit deeper and darker and are a lot more dance floor effective. the vocals turn to echoes and quasi chanting and a myriad of sounds flow in and out of this tune. the masterful original delight earth, a body & soul party favorite, show just how talented these guys are. full of trumpet solos and latin conga rhythms with plucked stringed guitars make for a sensational ride. back to the club on their dub... great package!!
