a few words by steffen bennemann: i was in loose contact with aggelos (dream weapons) for a few years, watching him from a distant with great interest. in 2012, he sent me his debut lp on inner ear under his fantastikoi hxoi moniker and it quickly became my favourite album of the year. when i told him our plans for holger he sent me some of his more electronic leaning music. i was instantly captured by the driving, trippy kraut techno songs which show homage to the psychedelic sounds of the 60s and 70s while holding their own in the here and now. exactly our cup of tea.

unfortunately it took a bit of time to present here our third release, but luckily enough we are happy to show you now we are groove cirqus ep. the duo from italy brings three great tunes with enormous, nice rhythms on drums and percussion. semiprofessional musician a smoot and deep track pepper

churches schools and guns. a provocative name for a provocative album of techno from one of the genres most consistently intriguing producers, lucy. this, his second solo album, pushes forward from his debut full-length, 2011s wordplay for working bees, and firmly establishes him in a league of his own.

with *believe in love* yousef returns home to circus recordings with 3 cuts that have been turning heads all summer long. the title track features the legendary vocal of roy davis jr who once again, asks the world a poignant question. a rolling, infectious and gnarly groove develops and unfolds into a long and harmonic breakdown before a blistering crescendo. designed for the heads but with still enough action for the people that follow yousefs more musically trickier offerings.
just a beat is exactly that. yousef busts out a stripped back boogie bass over tight drums and oddball acid. no messing around, heads down, hands up. what is revolution is completely reworked by circus label mates acid mondays. remixing one of the stand out cuts from yousefs recent *a product of your environment* artist album, the mondays show how to bring authentic house music into the 21st century.

adding to his extensive and diverse catalog, alexi delano delivers his first release for spectral sound. my busted sh-101 is an ode to the beloved and portable synthesizer made by roland in the early 80s, not long before delano started djing. as a producer, he s earned a reputation for being a bit of a machine himself, churning out records on a wide variety of labels over the last 20 years. he holds his own in house music under his a.d.n.y. moniker, but its with tracks such as this one that show off his love for dark, weird techno that sits comfortably alongside spectrals finest.

with a self-proclaimed goal to showcase newcomers as well as established artists, melodymathics hands out their second punch with a killer track by detroit veteran gari romalis. gari is at the forefront of the detroit techno scene, working close with terrence parker, mike banks, cliff thomas and labels such as tresor, transmat, soma and many more. his productions clearly show that his 30 years experience djing made him realize what works on the dancefloor. the web on melodymathics ltd.002 is a sublime example of soulful keys combined with funky rhythm, resulting in the ultimate dj tool.

following up their releases on composite records and indigo raw, parham shafti & dominic plaza, aka the quantum mechanics, are back with their second installment on the relaunched unfokused music. here the duos mission to explain the unexplainable continues with two new outstanding cuts, release room and mind tricks. on the remix side, the mighty sasse and his partner in late night crime, the notorious james flavour (also known as one half of dirt crew) join in to show us their tricks. with their combined experience the two elegantly take on where the original leaves you and aim straight for a heart trick that resembles us of moody dancefloor moments from early 90s, modified to take place in a near future.

this young serbian producer was already introduced on keno records 15 with his great fargo remix. on his first solo release he show us his full potential and his ability to produce epic bassline driven deep house tracks that really stand out. jaxson & david keno are crashing the party and move >i can t go on< into a complete different direction. nice mixture again.

described in typically self deprecating manner as a vanity imprint in the classically ornery tradition, the pear growers series is a new label from chris madak, best known for his mind bendingly good output as bee mask. the first release sees material from madaks excellent spectrum spools long player when we were eating unripe pears get treated to remixes from celebrated techno artists surgeon and abdulla rashim. anyone who has heard surgeon playing the remix on his rinse fm show will agree that his unashamedly emotive breakbeat reworking of *the story of keys & locks* is arguably one of the simplest and most affecting remixes this year. complementing this, prologue and semantica artist abdulla rashim delivers a take on *unripe pears* that will resonate with anyone that has indulged in the elusive producers recent output on his own eponymous label.

kevin griffiths steps out front with the latest instalment of the tsuba loves compilation series focusing on the boss behind the label. the a side features an exclusive track to the album, continuing kevins love affair with the slower & chuggier end of the house spectrum. those nights listening to tim sweeneys beats in space show have not gone to waste! the b side brings together revolver and enjoy the bozak previously unavailable on vinyl.

animal 004 introduces the alchemyst project by the two argentinian techno artist julixo and frederik who show us two creations of metallic dub techno and raw beat structures. on the b side code is law mastermind moerbeck puts some spooky atmosphere to the title track and monomood turns lucy into a chord driven funk monster.

christoph el truentos debut album, what we used to know, is born of change and confusion, and sounds utterly incredible for it. the deeply talented 24-year-old new zealander started writing back in 2011 at the time his son was born. tired fatherhood, personal upheaval and artistic indecision would actually help show christoph a clear path towards completing the record – a transcendant sweep of synths, samples, organic instrumentation and window ledge field recording that gently reveals new layers of sonic texture and emotion to the listener.

at the start of the 70s, france had no petrol, but it had ideas and artists that managed to tip them into the 21st century 30 years in advance. cosmic machine compiles 20 rare tracks put together with passion and erudition by uncle o (who previously did the shaolin soul compilations) and throws together a collection of stars, a few free-spirits, and also shooting stars.

ddsr005 comes from the new york city based newcomer edgar m. a house producer by trade, this is edgar ms debut release but it doesnt show, demonstrating an ear for sound aesthetics and dynamics that immediately caught the attention of deep down slam. his track >oscillate< is a little masterpiece, rich with musicality and vintage sounding production techniques that are reminiscent of early strictly rhythm. this ep sounds just like it came straight out of 1991 and was entirely produced on vintage hardware/analog based equipment. to complement this release we have zurich based house producer donato capozzi on the remix duties who delivers a great dub version of >that strut<. this is a release for the lovers and vintage sounding house diggers out there, ny touch guaranteed!

hirofumi goto aka rondenion made his debut releases on still music back in 2005. shortly after, he released a streak of detroit infused house 12 on rushhour, aesthetic audio and more to great critical acclaim. a dj and producer born in japan. he began working as a recording artist in the late 90s under the name hirofumi goto, and released his global debut, >ameria ep<. it drew attention for its dark beats, unusual for a japanese artist, and was played by top djs like derrik may. he changed his name to rondenion to show respect to chicago and detroit, and began working on an overseas release. ultimately, his love bound ep was released by major labels such as >rush hour< and became a big hit. it reached the top on the rushhourstore sales chart, and became popular in europe. in 2012 he formed >ragrange symphony< with his old friends no milk and kez ym, and he is currently working on a number of projects for his own record label, >ragrange records<.after being approached by roundabout sounds for a remix, discussions shortly after were directed towards a plan for releasing rondenions debut album on both vinyl (roundabout sounds) and digital (plug research). the result is the luster grand hotel debut album, ready to drop in september 2013. luster grand hotel is the most accomplished project from rondenion, an absolute blend of detroit and chicago house, reminiscent of the music from moodymann, theo parrish and rick wilhite. a must have for any real house music fans.

after a bit of a hiatus, roots unit return with some deep house hybrids from their bulging vaults. learn to love is a melodic dub-house / techno infused big sound system warmer that comes from a studio session with former 2 lone swordsman keith tenniswood and will be familiar to those who tune into tim sweeneys beats in space show on the regular. morning sequence is a lovely early morning hypnotic slinky electronic house jam that gets under your skin and into your mind. this latter track is mutated into a heavy floor filler by mark e in full on peak time mode.
