making all the right moves with previous form on aus, needwant and tusk wax, ejeca is well tapped into the revivalist house zeitgeist with these hale and hearty jams for waze & odyssey. solid inner city chords and crisp, bright drums abound on side a, with >night rays< sure to inflict some damage with its fulsome square wave bassline. on the flipside, >never forge< ups the tempo for a cut that dresses like tech house but moves like 2-step. waze & odyssey themselves bring a smoother, deeper vibe to bear on their remix of >riddim<, pulling the melodic content right back to subtle flecks for a greater dramatic impact.

haling from asuncion, lpzs ariel soler, javier rodriguez and jorge carron have spent the past 4 years gradually putting paraguay on the dance music map. for whats proving to be their watershed year, may saw the trio release the well-circulated >1983< ep via the body work imprint, shortly before delivering an era-themed mix for the fashion rag, dazed & confused. now, following on from a recent collaboration with hyperdubs lv, the south americans make their debut on the long serving loungin recordings. >the benedict & grace ep< combines two purpose-made productions specifically crafted to align with the west london imprints heritage for house at the deeper end of the spectrum. cloaked in hardware reverb, a-side >benedict< takes deep house to the doors of driving dub-techno, while >grace< represents a refined garage roller, more respective of loungins output in the early-2000s. over on the flip, rotterdams increasingly revered bruk-step lynchpin c.o.n.e converts grace into an industrious slab of mechanical grime, before the porto-based trikk applies his low-end house sensibilities to benedict by stripping it down into a slab of deep yet futuristic minimalism.

decoy 01 showcases southampton artist chris colburn, a regular feature on alan fitzpatricks 8 sided dice imprint. a selection of 3 techno gems made entirely for the dance floor. acid whip is the lead track, big drums and a nerve cutting acid line create this frenzy of a track. universal oddity brings in a tonal bell ploughing through light percussion and chris signature kick. no smoke is last but not least delivered with a touch of soul through the melodic stabs and swirling hazy noise effects, taking it even deeper. hans bouffmhyre adds his touch to the ep with his remix of acid whip, pulling away from the acid and focusing on the drums and effects, the sleaze and electric deluxe artist doesnt fail to deliver as the track flows, drops and lifts with this warehouse style monster.

techno fans in new york and chicago should be pretty aware of jeff derringer by now. since launching oktave in october 2009 with partner kevin gregor, the former indie rocker has turned a passion for deeper electronic music into a respected dj and promoter career. but it is as a producer that jeff has begun to earn rising recognition elsewhere-throughout the us and beyond-with his records infiltrating europe via support from the likes of silent servent, chris leibing and peter van hoesen, along with many others that have graced oktave over the years.

paper recordings continue their journey back to plastic with another vinyl release once again proving why they remain one of uks best loved labels. jamie l is a mysterious figure of undisclosed origin and history who fits in to the moodymann / theo parrish mold of heavy future disco, which his new production >(what we saw) in the burg< nails. it is a heavy leftfield groove laid over broken house beats with a filtered bass, samples and leftfield vibe. the detroit pad creeps up to the break and filters in and out as the track works its way through for locked down dance floor business. next up, havana candy breaks out the analogue and takes things deeper and techier. with a rolling bass and tweaking acid line, it cuts to a rhodes before filtering down and riding back to the heads down groove. cottam steps up for paper for the first time and demonstrates what all the fuss is about with a very special mix. clocking in at 9.41 it is deep, tough soulful house that crosses the 4/4 divide from techno to disco and deep house to soul.

ound kemysty a new outlet for the housier side of sound black debuts with a bang. ikenga projects snow ep chilling vocals from both carolyn harding and lady blacktronika under her alias akuarising. ikenga project seeks to put a thaw to winter ice with hot tracks from beginning to end that are deeper then the rabbits hole, including a remix from none other then harley & muscle. ikenga project is the brain child of lady blacktronika & chris mitchell whos seem to have perfect synergy in the studio. this release is sure to be the first of many more stellar projects to come

dope me / does caroline know? is a slightly clubbier affair-less sun ra and more soul capsule-but still possesses the air of strangeness that makes the duo so unique. each artist leaves his mark within the first few measure of dope me. the steady high-hats and flawless kick drum are straight out of dazes playbook, while the nervous piano and 3 chairs-style claps are unmistakably bruno. as for the slurred vocal pleading >dope me..dope me<, thats anyones guess. the track carries on for a solid nine minutes as half-melodies and quasi-hooks slide in and out of the mix. the b-side, does caroline know?, takes us deeper and darker. the drums are plodding, the mood is ominous, and a series of dreamlike flourishes add to an already eerie groove. like the a-side, its a surrealistic style of house that only these two could deliver. the artwork, as usual, is done by daze maxim.

nima khak who normally releases deeper techno cuts on labels like h-productions, drumcode, isl comes with a release true to the 1:53.2 philosophy pushing the limits of what should be expected from the artists normal work. unlike his previous productions you will find a more laid back housey sound in this release.
the a-side track searching all around (for you) is an housey love song that is an absolute killer for those early morning hour sets!
the first track on the flip side is bitter sweet a deeper dreamier track that showcases khaks more mellow side.

adriatique is back with their second release on diynamic. again the two talented producers from switzerland created a really impressive ep that seems to fit just perfect for the upcoming summer! the opening track,deeper love, really sets the direction of the whole ep and will make you fall in love with it! a really nice and warm synthesizer combined with that catchy deeper love vocal and a funky picked guitar makes this tune unique. the second track by your side first of all persuades with that coltish sequenzer baseline. after the first break the tune unfolds its whole power. its again the nice combination of a deep, down pitched vocal, funky bended chords and a great synthie line that works just excellent together. a great one for the dancefloor! with motions, the third and title track of the new ep, adriatique deliver another harmonic tune that goes under the skin. its the slowest track on the ep. massive bass tones, groovy shuffled hihats and a deep, repetetive vocal loop result in a wonderful, warm track. the fourth and last track body moving brings the ep to an good end. with a nice vocoder voice the tune gets a touch of the 80s sound. and again a bouncy baseline delivers this special groove and guarantees to shake the floor.

inspired by life long dedication to music and a rebel in the underground dance scene santiago de chile based producer jeaven presents his debut on resopal. his playground effects ep is a three-tracker showing his personal definitions of contemporary house / detroity - minimal - or how should we name it ? simply ... music! playground effect, the ep title is a great description of jeavens music, where everything is in constant and vibrant motion. from the the way the tracks evolve - to sound design to the beat-programing – there are no presets. the title track seems to spin at two velocities at once, balancing a driving, linear groove with half-speed voices to create a sense of suspended animation. centralized goes even deeper, with a rippling bass melody that gets deep inside your stomach. all three tracks on this ep are like springtime on hot wax.
