never underestimate the power of a good bassline. mark du mosch certainly doesn’t. this veteran from the harbor city of rotterdam let’s his vicious bass line creep up on you from behind on 202 ac ra. a dark and jacking club belter with clear chicago roots. the five track ep the heavens may be his debut on sohaso, du mosch has been releasing music for over fourteen years on a variety of respected underground labels, such as moustache, dekmantel and royal oak. his versatile style draws on sounds that evoke strong mental imagery and a sense of eternity, which clearly shows on the introspective resonance delay (she) on the b-side. in which a melancholic melody is supported by muffled slow motion beats. the beautiful artwork on the heavens ep is by joost stokhof, an amsterdam based graphic designer who is known for his love for detail. which makes him perfectly suited for du mosch’ subtle and well crafted dance tunes. in a normal world you would open your ep with the title track. du mosch chooses to close with it. the heavens stays true to it’s name. a harp like melody that washes ashore as foam from a greyblue northsea that calmed down after the storm. heaven indeed

the fantastic new single from okinawa delays feat. the delightful vocals of satoko ishimine is a cover version of the neil young/ nicolette larson classic. limited first edition twelve inch on light blue transparent vinyl & comes with fine selection of remixes from phil mison, psychmagik & willie graf & darren eboli. okinawa delays consists of the talented producer takeo toyama aka dj mizuki and the singer satoko ishimine. takeo met satoko almost five years ago when he hosted a party on irabu island that is a one of the distant islands of okinawa. we basically thought to make something like aor tracks like dusty springfield or fleetwood mac instead of city pop, also satoko likes that song, so we decided to go for it and im very pleased with the result.

ll1219 is introducing a new duo from cape town, south africa: atelier. their ‚something to fill an hour‘ ep is a prelude to a full-length player which will be released early next year. on the ep you will find the beautifully crafted and organic sounding original which is backed up by two remixes coming from the super in-demand and always tasteful perel and the label heads thomas and mathias as sbth.

after reissuing stanislav tolkachevs masterpiece blue mood, the intergalactic research institute for sound comes back with two fresh pieces from georgian artists zesknel and irakli. following a strong start with de sounds from georgia, this new record explores a more abstract electronic music. zesknel, who is a resident of the renowned bassiani club, collaborates here with irakli on two dreamy and airy soundscapes which aspire to depict and recreate the atmosphere of the georgian capital. to do so, they asked for the help of rezo glonti who proceeded to make field-recordings in tbilisi. this work served as a base in order to create something unique and true to the city. the project is part of a sound installation which aims to blend architecture with sound. the idea of the two artists was to conceive a space where they could translate the spirit of tbilisi. inside that space will be found works exhibited by other georgian artists. and this is all part of the exhibition >lara protects me. eine georgische erzählung< at the museum angewante kunst frankfurt

“wit blad” is the result of a beautiful collaborative project that started with illustrator joost stokhof. he was asked as an artist in residence for amsterdam’s hortus botanicus, a place where joost locked himself up for a week alongside the finest biodiversity in the city. joost asked eefje de visser to join him for a day and eefje asked nuno dos santos to form a powerful trinity of which “wit blad” is the unmistakable evidence.

after relocating from california at 7 years old, nasser grew up in a musical environment in new jersey. surrounded by gifted artists from an early age, nasser was fed a diet of authentic 70 s soul, 80 s pop and 90 s hip hop and r&b, which all influenced the spirit of his music and his trademark big production. at only 24 years old nasser displays real musical maturity and a subterranean fearlessness in his productions. mentored by house music master dennis ferrer, nasser has released three ep s and on the indispensible objektivity label, as well as remixing dennis iconic son of raw in 2017. his gramercy ep on suara revealed nasser s more techier side, exposing his wider abilities. his most recent release on objektivity, the just like that ep , dropped in summer 2017, in tune with his first ibiza season. one of our most mysterious and intriguing states of consciousness is the dream. we lose consciousness when we enter the deep waters of sleep, only to regain it as we emerge into a series of uncanny private realities. through the fog of the mind we can get a glimpse of a world beyond our day to day realities that sometimes is able to show us deeper truths than those we face in awake states. roger is one of those lucid pioneers that is able to translate these experiences into sound. let him guide you through these wondrous clouds. were very happy to welcome dutch-born german-raised roger van lunteren on sohaso for the first time. his rosa dos ventos ep is a four-track story that oozes retro vibes and nostalgia for a past that never seems to have existed. utilizing raw 80’s analog synths and humanoid acid lines he sets atmospheres that remind of lynchian dreamscapes. vanish starts out with an emotional chord sequence, as you enter the fluid world of the subconscious. a gnarly bassline welcomes your arrival and lets you know things here aren’t exactly what they seem. journeying on through seemingly dark areas, it ends with a hopeful melody and the bass softens as you start feeling weightless. uncontacted uses choral pads and two intertwining 303 sequences as a way of communicating between the different dimensions. aroy dee remixing vanish is like taking a psychotropic liquid, adding more drive to the original while retaining the emotive synth patterns. sleepless is rogers hardest cut on the record, again providing directly plugged in 303 goodness and stomping beats. it rounds off a balanced ep with plenty of introspective dance material.

it sounded all right through two walls, so what s the problem? the final words of two walls, the fast and very catchy leading track of dj marcelle s new record, sum up an aesthetic almost lost in today s musical climate, where often a pleasing attitude and overproduced music sadly rule, even in so-called alternative circles. the quote comes from the late mark e. smith (1957 - 2018), legendary frontman of the fall, and is taken from some of the conversations marcelle had with smith over the years. smith is referring to a recording process but for marcelle his words stand for something bigger.

back in 1962 when this, their third album was released, the group consisted of smokey, ronnie white, pete moore and brother and sister bobby and claudette rogers. while he had yet to be featured in the billing by name that came in 1965 robinson’s photo was top and centre of the lp cover. the ten songs featured barely amounted to 27 minutes of music, but what i ll try something new may have lacked in quantity it more than made up for in quality. and the reason was clear. six of the ten songs stem from robinson s pen five solo efforts and the sixth, closing track this i swear, i promise , a co-write with janie bradford. let s savour an album that, as one perceptive critic put it, features the miracles at their early best... as young, eager kids just starting out, filled with optimism, youthful exuberance and enthusiasm, long before record-company politics, favouritism and restrictions changed the group forever.
