black loops teams up with seven davis jr. and nikoss for a killer ep of deep soulful house tracks. often times, spontaneity in the studio can lead to moments of pure creative flow, and if these tracks are any indicator, that was certainly the case here.
our good friend riccardo aka. black loops joined rough limited with his buddy innocent soul from italy. they made three classic house cuts for this vinyl only release. >the lady< is opening the ep - a classic homage to all old school chicago house tracks with a chopped vocal sample. listening to the b-side, there is >from the streets< a more disco influenced track with pianos and a moog baseline. with a raw & authentic house stomper there is >smoke signals< on b2 to round up the whole package. enjoy!
the past few years have seen berlins frag maddin release material on waze & odysseys w&o street tracks, rough recordings and egg londons what came first as well as offering up a remix on roog & dennis quins ep for madhouse where her returns to here for a full ep featuring remixes from fellow berlin based acts black loops and kevin over. taking the lead on the package is the zauberflö,te with its skippy hi-hats, hooky organ licks, hypnotic rhodes melodies and vocal cuts all further fuelled by a snaking sub-bass groove to create a slice of authentic house for one of the leading labels of the genre. black loops turns in a remix of the zauberflö,te next, stripping things back to a deeper, more refined feel with spiraling, filtered elements of the original wandering around swinging 909 drums to create a groove-drive counterpart to the original. focus opens the latter half of the package, the second original from frag maddin which employs chugging square wave bass tones and dynamically evolving drums alongside tension building strings and choppy stabs before keving over closes the package with his gritty take on focus, featuring crunchy drums, dusty chords and cleverly arranged string and key samples.
this one is for people who like the real disco tools. for dudes who love the style of dj harvey, prins thomas or todd terje. for djs that want the girls to dance. toy tonics lead honcho black loops teamed up with italo-spanish dj innocent soul in his berlin studio. do we have to introduce black loops? not really: he started his career on toy tonics three years ago. meanwhile did 5 eps on the label - including his main club hit sex (that was one of the 50 most sold house tracks on beatport in 2016). innocent soul is a young italian living in barcelona where he is a quite established kid in the nightlife scene. vittorio rinaldi his name. he is resident dj at space music garden project and resident for the modular project at city hall. like black loops he is not really innocent. at least if it comes to music. he is a huge lover and collector of disco, afro, black, raw and house music vinyl. you can hear the influences in this ep for sure. rollin. this ep is a bomb.

ruff stuff returns to their own label and are proud to announce a new 4 track ep. untitled04 is the result of different experiments on the sound and introduces a novelty for the label: the first official remix by the lovely italian duo black loops. “never ending” opens the a side with its raw groove, a hypnotic pad warming everything up and a vocal that will drive the listeners to unexplored territories. “m.a.m.t.” showcases the most familiar sound of ruff stuff: warm techno stabs on a straight groove filled with a single vocal and a synthetic arpeggio in the second part. on the b side the sound changes its shape with “flying”: a mixture of rough grooves, disco samples, female vocals and a touch of acid. the remix by black loops brings the track back to very house territories chopping the original samples more and filling them with a solid beat and shining hats. just put the needle on, push play and dance! vinyl only, limited copies.
here comes the new black loops ep! and by now you know what to expect: these irresistible rolling groove patterns with that unique warm black loops-feeling. that special vibe that made black loops one of the leading artists on toy tonics. by now its exactly four years that they released their debut ep right now on the gomma sublabel. they did four eps on toy tonics since then - followed by selected releases on neo vinyl, pets and gruuv records
this one goes out to all you lovers out there, with their love of good house and techno brimming over with each release, every day is valentins day at pets hq. so when black loops sent them 4 the lovers the label cats (and dogs) knew it would be a perfect fit for a debut.
an italian-spanish connection is always a good thing. the sort of sensual and mediterranean emotions that carlo and black loops can deliver, is a skill that has been taken far on this new ep. the dichotomy can prove difficult to square sometimes, particularly when the guys have different paths in their sound. but the mix is rich here. the intermission ep is a packed full of soul samples, warm pads, and great solid beats wrapped up as a soulful declaration. their massive love for music really shines through in this ep.
black loops have previously released on labels like toy tonics which brought them fans like groove armada, huxley, art department and of course audiojack who signed them to their own gruuv recordings, this their second ep for the label sees riccardo & gabriele unleash three new bombs featuring a remix from emanuel satie
after years as a vocalist and keyboarder in james murphys superband lcd soundsystem, finally nancy whang steps out with her own solo project: 4 cover versions of big songs from the 70ies, each of which is to be produced by a big name of todays electronic scene.
after blazing trails with his debut longplayer exits and wowing the sceptical chat rooms with his all-hardware boiler room blow out, the north country bit smasher returns. the iiva ep is mini album of experiments, re-animations and rebirths. like dr herbert west with a hypo of fluro-serum loops haunt plunges elbow deep into his hardrives sonic corpses unleashing an army of weaponised soundscapes. unlike its big brother exits, iiva sets an immediate agenda, drums burst through fizzing tape hiss and field recorded found sounds are given urgency and purpose. along with an army of hooded mystery collaborators pans nhk even joins the fray with a radiophonic technoid rerub of iiva. all action.
since his debut in 2009, loops haunt has continued to confound and excite with an output as mercurial as it is rare. toying with jungle and hip hop on zenith and outright sound design on ark, the wilderness-bound beat alchemist uses his isolation to explore and even create his otherworldly sound palate. lurking behind immaculate drums are the windswept sounds of the desolate north and mechanized textures plucked from his father s own workshop. here we embark on loops most complete work to date. exits is designed to be listened to as one continuous track, opening with ambient mood and emotion, layering outboard synths and found-sounds on the title track and trap door. an unexpected calm beginning is shattered in the second act with the pounding rhythms and industrial heart beats of howl and iiva. exits is an insight into a uniquely unpredictable talent and rare chance to be immersed in his sound.
shrouded in mystery and rarety loops haunts musical outpourings are the stuff of urban folklore. a strange alchemy of rugged rzaesque drums lay a contrasting bed for his spectral outboard sound bombardment. in contradiction with prior experiments, zenith has a strong and muscular loop based drum aesthetic running throughout from the nyc leanings mun rhul to the straight up amen bothering hardcore of zenith itself loops haunt has never sounded more relevant on a soundsystem!
black acre finish off a strong 2012 in anarchic style!
