brother jt is central, pa’s john terlesky whose freewheeling boundless music has been released under many different monikers: brother jt & vibrolux, brother jt3 and most commonly brother jt. he has worked with an impressive roster of tastemakers such as drag city, siltbreeze, birdman, and drunken fish. brother jt is a moniker that finds terleskys songwriting and ample guitar skills taking a decidedly psychedelic form but never deviating too far from the classic song structure.

in january the debut album the damage is done by hot coins, the disco crossbreed project by danny berman (best known for his house productions as red rack em), was released. his personal time machine journey into the sights and sounds of downtown new york sometime around the late seventies/early eighties is much more than a tribute to his heroes of those times. its also a brilliant examination of todays club music.

derek kaye married his schoolboy passions of music and electronics in 1973 when he constructed his first disco sound system, aged just 13. prior to this, with dj equipment something of a rarity in those days, he created a custom setup that bypassed the need for a mixer by rewiring his turntables in such a way that he could flip the sound from one deck to another, and installed a switch that would dip the music so a microphone from a portable cassette player could be used to announce the song on rotation. his work soon grew in sophistication and a new console was built, with his schoolmate, greg wilson, buying derek s old rig, thus beginning his own well-documented dj career.

paula temple joins the r&s fold as the first female solo artist to be signed in the labels 30 years history. her first release speck of the future was way back in 2002 and gained her the support of jeff mills, claude young, dave clarke and the late john peel amongst others. after co-developing one of the first midi controllers for dj/live performance and teaching kids in her neighbourhood how to dj, paula temple finally returns to her first love - techno music.
