coming on 500 limited edition coloured vinyl is this new ep from sierra sam on tomoki tamura s holic trax. analogue machine loving sierra sam is probably best know as a techno specialist but this ep - made up of original tracks that were first produced 15 years ago - showcases his house music side and does so in some style. one new edit comes from sierra sam in cahoots with tamura, and the label head also turns out a great dj tool edit to complete the package

one of las smartest young voices says the la times…which the artist suspects, may just be a covert way of saying la is dumb. “open” mike eagle wouldnt terribly mind, being born and raised in chicago where the painful winters and his uppity grandparents kept him inside as a youth. he spent his formative years watching alternative music happen on mtv and hoping to one day be able to audition for the native tongues. as a young adult after graduating with a degree in psychology, he did the next best thing and moved to los angeles, joining the project blowed collective where he made music and toured with busdriver, aceyalone, abstract, nocando, and more. he has also gained notoriety in the world of comedy by being invited by professional funny people (paul f. tompkins, hannibal buress, matt besser/ucb) to rap at their shows. he would like to be raps kurt vonnegut but recognizes that he would first have to create something as iconic as the four-stroke illustration of an anus. he practices by releasing rap albums that delight, entertain, and confuse.

londoners kiwi and ashworth return to sneaky for a follow-up to dawn ep, the warm, dusty and at times experimental release, championed by the likes of daniel avery, eric duncan and tiefschwarz. the past few months have been busy for both halves of the duo, with kiwi signing to duke dumont s blase boys club and remixing for house music super-labels bpitch control and get physical, whilst ashworth has signed music to tomoki tamura s holic trax and needwant. second ep takes a new format, with two original tracks alaska and na am on the a-side, backed up by a nicholas & marcoradi remix of cux3 and ranacat s remix of zubr. alaska could be described as an amalgamation of the inspirations that lead to the first sneaky release, combining the pumping house beats of cux3, the comforting wurlitzer of zubr and the ethereal movie-soundtrack dusk. na am is something totally different, existing mainly as a collage of recorded and found sounds, avoiding the usual structure of house music in favour of something reminiscent of the weirder side of the chemical brothers. strange though the track may be, the climax would undoubtedly move a room full of pilled up ravers to a state of frenzy. the b-side remixes both hint to dance floors of the 90s, with nicholas and marcoradi making you wait and wait before dropping an unforgettable piano hook, whilst sneaky s ranacat lifts zubr out of context and into peak time territory.

zone 4 was the first project that i created as a whole idea, the creation of zone 4 started around the time that the final track selection to a new world was taking shape. it sat for a number of years, shelved till the day that i found a label that would honor it the way i had envisioned.

rndm (pronounced *random*) is a new musical group featuring pearl jam bassist jeff ament, singer-songwriter joseph arthur and drummer richard stuverud. in april of this year, joseph arthur joined jeff ament and drummer richard stuverud in montana for a jam session, which would give birth to rndm *acts*. within an hour on that first night in the studio, the trio had bashed into shape an ament song called *what you cant control*. and after four days with longtime pearl jam engineer brett eliason behind the boards, the group had nearly 20 finished tracks, which were eventually whittled down to to 12 for this album. the double vinyl comes in gatefold sleeve and contains a download code.

though the iconic imagery of disco feels distinctly tied to the united states, the style had a wide-reaching influence that made it’s way to africa. while africa was already no stranger to the pulsing rhythms of funk, afro-beat, and highlife, the rise of disco added a slick sheen to the music, with musicians from all over the continent incorporating elements of the genre into their sounds. would there ever have been a studio 54 in ghana in late 70s, these would have been the recordings that would have packed the dance floor with their deep root in disco, soul & funk! an album recorded in the late 70s packed full of legendary musicians such as harry mosco and many more… to be re-discovered 35 years after it’s initial vinyl release as a private press. a “disco documentary full of funk” proves that it stands the test of time by sounding as fresh and original as any other sought-after disco / soul funk lp from the west coast of africa in the late 70s. bbe went on another crate-digging journey and found the original producer reindorf nana oppong and the original master tapes were dusted off, transferred to digital. in the process of this, even un-released material was discovered on the tapes, which makes this a rather special package. “nana love - disco documentary full of funk” is one special journey through afro disco & boogie in the late 70s, and we at bbe can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!!!

it s been a busy 2014 so far for label head dubfire. whilst nothing unusual for the persian-born producer, with the revival of deep dish (alongside sharam), the release of their new single quincy, the continuation of the sci+tec radio show, the release of his much vaunted remix of come featuring asia argento and his relentless global touring schedule, it would be a surprise to find even a slither of studio time for original dubfire productions.

if youve been even the most casual participant in or observer of the nyc dance music and club scene over the past decade, youve most definitely encountered luca venezia, a.k.a. curses, who once was better known as drop the lime, a central figure in the trouble & bass crew. where dtl was all stripped and chewed dubstep and grime, curses is clearly of a house bent, albeit one thats been cut with plenty of heavy bass, breakbeat-leaning drums, and a frantic energy that one wouldnt find on classic chicago 12inches.

debut ep of cream soda duo incl. remixes from volta cab (ua), sasha khizhnyakov (ru), kings of the universe (se), dirty culture (ro)! cream soda - one of the most promising house projects in cis. after only a year of producing house music, the duo s tracks have ended up in dj sets by xxxy, jimmy edgar, bondax, and dj caspa, the pair have featured on international blogs like onlyvibez and in glossy magazines like fhm. tracks from cream soda are spinning in spots on fashion tv and since the end of 2013 have been taken in rotation on megapolis fm. since january 2014 guys started their own radio show on megapolis fm (89.5 fm) and personal no me podcast. band already predicting a great future, comparing it with disclosure, and bondax, and, in our opinion, cream soda - it is a sincere festive house music with right groove of the 90s, which would be appropriate in almost any good club.

medical records presents two of the most striking and iconic reissues in its catalog. the lp though 2 years after since the accident continues to carry the torch illustrating the evolving transition between experimental structure and loops into the catchy pop hooks that would later define such releases as rotund for success. this lp seems to move slightly into darker territory in general with its synth textures and slower tempo tracks but overall has a nice continuation feel from since the accident yet with obvious technological evolutions.

frankfurts robert dietz first solo release on desolat robert dietz has been one of the most consistent producers around in recent years, with releases on a diverse assortment of labels including cecille, cadenza, running back and saved records. while roberts your so hood track featured on the desolat x sampler back in march, then this will be his long-awaited debut solo release on desolat, and as one would expect from such a talented producer it is a an striking ep.

this holographic release was inspired by black hole thermodynamics. in the case of omni, the insight was that the sound content of all fallen objects might be contained in surface fluctuations of the event horizon. siren to siren is microscopically random, like a hot gas. a known configuration of classic tape sounds has zero entropy: there is nothing random about binary configurations. if one throws a hot gas with entropy into the g count, the entropy would disappear - producing aggressive bandwidths, and ragga baselines.

nice price deal !!! moonlite bunny ranch is a saxophone player and two dj/producers, born from the spine of the dark jazz ensemble macelleria mobile di mezzanotte: freeform techno with improvised patterns and no real clue where the music would go, like a rough jazz band playing slow techno. their first effort, downer, is a 3-track ep combining analog synthetizers, digital effects, saxophone, hang drum. mixed at the subsound studio in rome by luciano lamanna and mastered by andrea merlini, downer gets inspiration from the illegal brothels in no mans land in the south of the united states, the jazz funerals in new orleans, the goat and the old lady.

the eighteenth theomatic installment comes courtesy of amberflame. the a-side unique is a lean towards the early-naughties dancefloor-oriented french electronica with a certain amount of delicate synthwork and contemporary crisp blended in. the laidback and melancholic ultraviolet, on the flipside, would, without any doubt, make a perfect soundtrack to a sunset drive down the coast… with a beautiful lady… in a convertible.

we have reached number 10. time to celebrate with a remix edition of the deep88 & melchior sultana project. awaiting the album release (later 2014) we asked 2 of our heroes if they would like to make a remix for us. with a lot a lot (and a lot) of happiness we announce the nightwave remix by ben >cozmo d< cenac, formerly known as dream 2 science (and sha-lor and newcleus and the cellar boyz), that made us a wonderful space trip with his dreamy synths and stylish drums. the other remix is >yo house< treated by the excellent australian producer andras fox, that converts the song into a super classy deep house one with a lot of hiss and love. the man behind > running late> really made some magic over the melody of yo house, as usual with the aim of analogue warm-tape-feel and his crazy skills.

time to welcome more new, undiscovered talent to the fold, this time we give you sheffield producer thatmanmonkz with an amazing ep entitled please dont slip, trip or fall off. thatmanmonkz came to our attention last year when his track that would be alright appeared on tone control music. the low slung, bluesy inflections combined with moodymann-esqe vocals and deep pads had us instantly hooked so when he presented us with three brand new tracks for delusions of grandeur we literally bit his hand off.
