it does not happen that often any more that unreleased music from 40 years ago surfaces. even more unlikely it is that the songs put on tape are such treasures. the voltags were right at the forefront of the local washington dc new wave/punk scene of the late 1970s. influenced by kraftwerk, gary numan, the clash, and the b-52 s, they have released only one 45rpm single during their existence. but during the time span of not even 18 months, they had recorded enough material for an entire album - but the songs remained in the can. this is the story of the voltags, a short-lived band which could have become famous and mentioned in the same breath as the aforementioned music legends of that era if their songs had been released back in the day. dive in and enjoy the sound of the voltags, it is truly special. we here at perfect toy are thrilled to be label to finally release their work and we sincerely hope that they are finally getting the appreciation they so richly deserve.

repitch’s latest releases is a full-on acid assault, a distorted analog techno speedwagon driven by label co-founder d.carbone along with panzerkreuz affiliate and rave veteran albert van abbe. side a is composed of two tracks produced by van abbe and paul van ghent under the guise of his most unapologetic acid project penik etteck. recorded between 1998 and 2000, it is a duo of incendiary bangers made for no other purpose than pumping energy into the rave. on the flip side, van abbe’s youngest project datasmok sides with d.carbone for two more tracks ripe with acid basslines, heavily distorted drums, and noisy drones, speeding up the tempo on the first one and slowing it down on the second in order to explore the many dynamic possibilities of raving.

clergy returns for its 9th instalment with a club ready ep of serious weapons from label mainstay, and one half of works unit, reflec. the four track release opens with acid response , in which reflec has combined a tough rhythm section with a growling 303 to create a high energy roller guaranteed to keep the dance floor moving. continuing on this trend of heavy hitting rollers, osmosis is a drum track through and through, which incorporates dark and sweeping atmospherics into the groove true to reflec’s form.

new 030303 release. john heckle s first one for 030303 starts off deliciously with translate- being a moody and melodic and bouncer that caters to a twisted dance floor. terix, the opener on the b-side is a beautiful reminder of derrick mays detroit, rhythm is rhythms kao-tic harmony in particular. the end of this record then, is like the end of most nights: with lots of melodies going on and a stomping rhythm hear me is by far the most mind bending track of this excellent 12inch.

an-2 and samos have turned the clock back to finish off a couple of sessions theyd recorded together years back. maxim samos is our keen friend and sophisticated guitar player from minsk, belarus that we know for years. his first appearance on theomatic was back in 2008 with space-rock tune alpha storm, which received lots of positive feedback and found its way to the prins thomas live at robert johnson compilation. as well as guitars, maxim can play almost any string instrument and, on one of his erstwhile trips to istanbul, he dropped by a music store, picked up a saz and immediately set it alight, blowing away the entire staff. after scoring a big discount, he came out, clutching it in his hands. an-2 commented on samos playing on the saz during one of his first visits to minsk, and immediately suggested cutting a track together something that took 10 years, but the wait’s been worth it. what weve got is surreal halal-acid-folk-disco affair, perfect for whirling dervishes or dancing the dhikr. the storys continued on the b-side, where were treated to a tale of trips in a gti, before finishing with a nordic saga about cold fronts coming at us from behind the polar circle.

hey campers, we are back with some new goodies for you! this one is by the completely virginal duo death bulb, who have never released a single track before, which is quite ridiculous as they have been producing this stuff since 2012. this is simply some of the best industrial noise techno around! it starts out with the title track zement, a total dancefloor killer that still gives me goosebumps after hearing it about a million times. you will eat this up! second on the a side is breathe in, breed out, a hilariously rough beatdown with lots of heavy breathing involved - slays it every time! ultraviolence never felt so enjoyable! the b side starts out with a rare guest appearance of label daddy hanno hinkelbein who donated a remix of zement for you people who like straightforward techno. lots of heavy bass and a crunchy ravepad, driven by relentless percussion. the vinyl ends with the broken banger bettina’s betrayal - noise at it’s finest, somewhere between i-f’s “i do because i couldn’t care less...” and old afx.

this one is for collectors and fans of obscurities, strictly limited to 300. no repress! neapolitan native modula (firecracker recordings, periodica records) debuts on tartelet with a conceptual ep. alba ¹ tempesta ¹ notturno is a sound montage created with a selection of field recordings from the jungles of south america. the a-side consist of two cuts, pura natura the original field recording, followed by natura sintetica ¹ a reconstruction of the original montage using only electronic audio synthesis to reinvent the sounds of nature. the b-side holds three tracks mixed into one: a cinematic synth-funk tune that reminds of an 80s wildlife documentary. running over twelve minutes, a musical journey is the perfect soundtrack to your amazonian expedition.

i try to perform as honestly as possible — the soundbite borrowed from late dancer dudley williams for this record s second track could have been uttered by the mole himself. it s this candor that has allowed us to bear witness to a very marked and very audible transition from his days as a producer in montreal to becoming a part of the berlin scene. and what we have here is one result of that very explicit sonic metamorphosis. de la planet is our dyslexic subject s third studio album, one that stays true to his ethos of weird above all in the best possible sense. and yet it feels like something distinctly new. tapping his enormous reservoir of vinyl and sampling the odd film have acted as complement to the jaw-dropping arsenal of synthesizers at de la plante s disposal—a battery of machines he s been quietly improving his skills on during the past few years. or not so quietly, perhaps. the man himself would probably say -i m coming out of the woodshed-, and go off on a tangent about sonny rollins and his saint of a wife. but that s a story for another sheet.

shintaro.d is new on the scene, but this promising japanese producer follows up on his debut on his own label init with this assured 12inch for jus groove it, taking the stripped down deep house template and injecting it with an off-kilter approach to sound design that subtly makes for one of the most effective dj tools heard in recent memory. that track in question is kohisikarubeki, and its remix by rhythm & soul takes those intricately carved shards of sound design and smooths them into a more conventional house music shape. the b-side finds shintaro.d turning out more of that subversive, future-minded deep house business, with waganamidakana being a clear highlight.

uwe schmidt has long been recognized as one of electronic musics most respected and versatile artists. a man of many talents, projects and identities including atom heart and senor coconut, uwes playfully ironic and acid- tinged atom tm moniker is perhaps the identity that most speaks to the new york dancefloors where the bunker makes its home. several atom tm releases are much-loved bunker classics and with the future nights 12inch uwe offers a heady experiment in what happens when a track takes you so far inside your own head that you’re in danger of losing your way back. . the a side is comprised of two fuzzy vocal techno tracks that are as fun to listen to as they will be to subject to some heavy tweaking in the hands of a capable dj. the b side, chemistry is particularly versatile and crazy-making with elements of darker techno stirred into a disorientingly stereophonic maelstrom that’s guaranteed to cause a dancefloor to lose its moorings until the only thing keeping reality from splintering is the tracks dry academic vocal reassuring us that its all just chemistry
