she cant love you delivers smooth, soulful vocals and an abundance of attitude, propelled by provocative, cheeky vocals sitting over tough, funky rhythms and retro synth lines. the original mix has bounces with a us garage-like groove via chopped breaks supercharged with a solid kick and tons of nightclub funk. speaking of old school, egyptian lover supplies the electric boogaloo with remix that returns to his electro roots of the 1980s. the vocal sits comfortably in these new shoes, providing a classic-tinged alternative glance at this tune.
for the past four decades, a growing cult of soul music collectors have sought two obscure lps and a handful of extremely rare 45s released on the vanity record label lad productions, inc. between the late seventies and the mid eighties by the mysterious south side chicago singer/song writer larry dixon. larry s raw songs capture the transition from r&b to boogie-down as disco was rapidly becoming extinct. they also perfectly illustrate larrys ability to overcome his environment and discrimination, transcended by his determination to write and produce music. with the support of his faithful musicians, larry s success was only hindered by lack of airplay and promotion, but his talent shines through. this is the story of larry dixon, his label lad productions, inc., and his friends and family throughout four decades of music in chicagos toughest neighborhoods. jerome derradji is proud to reactivate past due records the boogie funk division of still music to release this fantastic archive what many consider to be the holy grail of chicago funk, boogie and soul.

last year, an enigmatic name seemed to appear out of thin-air. sam weston was apparently a fresh upstart in the australian house-scene releasing a dusty collection of late-night/early-morning jams aptly titled shiraz voyager. with this rose-tinted house release in hand, weston arrived on the scene and people took notice. the tape sold out within weeks. thing was, sam weston was not a fresh-face at all. he was here all along, although more commonly known as one half of influential sydney techno duo alba. lorded for their brand of live-fire robotic grooves, alba became trailblazers in a town more miami than berlin, where brooding and rolling hypnosis werent often preferred to fist pumping bangers. wanting to flex his lovin spoonful of hypnotic lo-flung house, weston decided to release a handful of edits on his soundcloud. immediate attention was conjured and sam weston released the aforementioned shiraz voyager ep to a pretty amazing response. almost overnight, australia had a new hero in westons warm compositions that summon memories of sunny days and happier times.

octave one announce new album love by machine a year after their impressive last album burn it down, detroit techno legends octave one are back with a nine track double ep that again shows they are masters of big hypnotic grooves. entitled love by machine, the albums name is a nod to the fact that the burden brothers are such revered masters of their hardware. both in the studio, where they cook up atmospheric house and techno with soaring synths and vocals and also in the live arena, where they are celebrated as one of the most accomplished and forward thinking performers in the game today. that is all the more impressive when you bear in mind they have been active since the 80s, most often releasing on their own 430 west label, which is where they appear again here. say lenny: weve been exploring the theme of connection with this project. how technology gives us the illusion that we are closer to each other more than ever. at some point humanity crossed a line where the devices that we created to bring us together are the same devices that are blocking us from organic experiences.
love notes from brooklyn offers up this platter from a very exciting new brooklyn artist, subtenant. as it says on the tin, the artisanal acid ep is heavy on the 303 squelches and emotional content. each track has a unique pairing of soul and heavy acid funk. evergeen soul is the clear lead track here, using a female snippet to keep this otherwise tough little number dancefloor friendly. this track is then reworked by detroit underground darling, d marc cantu, who pitches things up into funky rave territory. the flip side sees the title track feature the most soulful chords on the entire record, and then on the b2 the artist himself takes to the mic on know how it feels. this whole ep feels live and direct from the brooklyn underground.
the period of the 1960s and 70s was so fertile that the speed with which tastes changed left a colossal amount of incredible music to gather dust - perhaps most famously a profusion of funk, soul and rock. countless of local artistsw released their music independently, such as mr. holiday. and what a dope double-sider it is! check the drum & flute break, something to die for!
theo parrish teams up with amp fiddler on -ghetto proposal- - a deep grimy chugger of a track featuring vocals from kitten koroi and john douglas on trumpet. instrumental version on the flip.

dreamy california pads witness the strength of russian street knowledge, managing to stay afloat as grinding 808s pull towards the underground. euphoric and elegant throughout, jg03 is top-down cruiser house with an attitude, and its exclusively from jungle gym.
four never before released or publicly available demo cuts from the writing sessions of craig peyton and jolyon skinner circa 1983-1985. the duo produced and wrote hits for artists in between working on their own projects. these songs survived the past 30 years on a cassette tape, which was lovingly transferred for this exclusive to peyton records release. after their short but fruitful collaborative period, peyton went on as a writer and band leader and skinner went on to have a career as a songwriter for pop acts such as joe, nsync, and freddie jackson. in the words of craig peyton: jolyon skinner and i met in the early 80s through our mutual friend keith diamond (the trinidadian producer of hits such as caribbean queen by billy ocean). after we met, jolyon and i started regular writing sessions at my nyc p-factor studio. our first break came in 1983 with howard johnsons let this dream be real-. that was followed up with love of a lifetime by melba moore and where ya gonna be tonight for will collins. after this we were offered a recording deal by april blackwood music, but due to my contract with profile records at the time we couldnt accept it. shortly after skinner got signed to zomba and we stopped writing together around 1985.
this song has been in high demand since a demo was released to premier djs around the country. this transatlantic production was created by singer- songwriter reno ka who previously had successful releases on defected and cajual. featuring production by ron trent for music and power! getting played by louie vega (amongst others).
nearly three years after the last split 12inch from dungeon meat and se62, my love is underground is finally back in action with an expansive doublepack of essential cuts from a wide range of producers that reaffirm the label s status as one of the leading exponents of classically rooted deep house music. with previous releases including brawther, the nathaniel x project and kool vibe, jeremy undergrounds label has done much to keep the heart and soul of real house music relevant in the 21st century. this new compilation follows in a long line of showcase releases from my love is underground, giving a platform to new talent as well as championing old favourites of the label. mid 90s legends teflon dons make a welcome return, franck roger represents the lasting legacy of parisian house music and uk mainstay tristan da cunha brings the goods in a break from his dungeon meat project. elsewhere hugo lx represents the new generation, fresh from a release on courtesy of balance, while malin genie has been rapidly building up a reputation on will & ink and lazare hoche. dj steaw has been spotted on traxx underground and rutilance, and ebony cuts returns after a debut on kojak giant sounds last year

nice price deal !!! sandro perri released his album impossible spaces lp in 2011 on constellation records, earning him rave reviews worldwide, including an 8.3 pitchfork rating + a best new track, for the stunning single changes. this track, plus the album track love & light, have been remixed/reshaped by diverse talents zongamin, mickey moonlight, eluvium & max gross (glissandro 70). the remixers approach these 2 tracks quite differently but all 4 versions have 1 fortunate thread perris vocals which are preserved, highlighted and reimagined in wonderful ways.sandro perri & dfa have long been seeking a project to create together, and this release seemed like as good a place to start as any.this is a great addition and continuation of the impossible shapes lp listening experience, and also a lovely way to revisit these remarkable tracks
right after having dropped connaisseur, the epic collaboration with olderic, on our 10 year anniversary release, peter pardeike now fnally presents his solo debut. living in cologne, peter is mostly known for his collaborations with marcus worgull on innervisions. his own musical infuences can easily be traced to his club socialization in the 90ies. with the title love supreme, peter pardeike delivers a monster of a track, which we are sure you will not forget. when the remarkable vocoder choir comes in for the frst time, you will feel it reverberate though your entire body, making it stick in you mind forever...
these two young guns from amsterdam promise to leave a big mark on the scene. their fresh interpretation of classic us house convinces with soulful vocals, stomping beats and surprising breaks. on their debut ep, soultage delivers with old school love and soulful damage two house anthems, which will definitely make every peak time dancefloor go boom. to warm up the place in the earlier hours, the duo recommends a swinging groove and jazzy trumpet. to round things up we find let s play house maestro jacques renault on remix duties, who turns soulful damage into a percussive dub monster. say what? house music all night long!
after their first (very) successful album, cassius decided not to rely on their natural ability to make us dance to their groovy basslines, and came back with a daring project: integrate some mostly african-american influenced singings in their compositions to give electronic music a new dimension.dont worry, the catchy-rythmic sound of cassius is still here. you might recognise the voice of ghostfacekillah, one of wu tang clans members that delivers a punchy performance on the upbeat tempo track thrilla-, as well as steve edwards, the house music singer who sang with swedish producer axwell, and whos also known for having lent his voice to bob sinclar on the famous world, hold on-. were releasing the album once more, so that you can get back into the fabulous swing of cassius.
ill be honest, i had forgotten about samuel jonathan johnson until i heard theo parrish play it recently. i used to spin the lp years ago but my copy got lost or beat. soon as i heard it i made a call and sorted out the 45, just an amazing solid groove on sweet love, you cant help but feel it. the flip reasons, is the other great track from the same columbia lp my music. first time on 45 for both of these, once they are gone that is it. disco essential!
what if we took you back to your untroubled teenage days, when all seemed complicated and easy to reach at the same time? that is exactly what cassius managed to transpose in 15 again: a carefree music, coloured by some deep songs, like an emancipated soul, but always tormented. the hit toop toop, sampled by madonna or david guetta, among others, and the intense la notte illustrate perfectly this state of mind of the youth. pharrell williams is present on the song eye water, a beautiful ode to our planet and its natural resources, and cassius has got further exciting surprises for you. were releasing their third album once again for this summer, a real shot of freshness to relieve you from the heat!
the rawkers epmore than 10 years after the release of cassius first album, the duet comes out with a 6 tracks project that mustnt have left a lot of people whove listened to it indifferent. well, if there are two people who appreciated the ep, it is jay-z & kanye west, aka the throne, who sampled the famous i <3 uso on their track why i love you, turning it into an absolute popular anthem. if the former album of the band was a tribute to adolescence, here it is more about the earliest days of ours, as the song les enfants (children) depicts it. to such an extent that the rawkers ep sounds like a gigantic playground, full of joy and happiness. were glad to repress this record and to give you an opportunity to escape through this enchanting opus, before cassius new album is released.
deep love is the first vinyl release by stefano pozzi, dj producer and musician. its very difficult to define his sound: his creative process led him to merge several genres in a very original way. the artist shows us a great talent combining different electronic styles from deep house to soulful house, new jazz and chill out music. stefano is also a guitar player. with his releases, he shows us how to bring guitar sounds together with electronic music in a brilliant way. in this 12 inch ep, that could be defined as deep house, the artist has worked to merge various elements of house music: the warm sound of a moog organ with a deep drum kick, the use of hypnotic and rhythmic vocal samples, the presence of many jazz and soul contaminations due to the acoustic guitar.
catz n dogz ready the next 12inch on their vinyl only pets raw and refined offshoot step. this comes in the follow up to records from a1 bassline, eduardo de la calle, andre kronert and the label owners themselves and marks the return das komplex who offers up his all for love lp. hailing from koszalin in poland, das komplex is undoubtedly an artist of many talents, a full time architect by trade, he has released material on father and son records and tapes label and also offered up the extolled and coveted 6th pressing on the step imprint back in august 2015 a record that sold out rapidly after hitting the shelves. now, his return marks the first foray into long-play format for step and allows das komplex to stretch his legs across 8 masterful disco grooves. diem kicks things off to a sunny start with sizzling guitar licks and softly pattering bongos before the slick italo-tinged obelisk and the richly atmospheric redukcja dysonansu poznawczego follow up. the project spreads out towards the jubilant and dreamy all for love which leads into brukiew, an introverted but ultimately feel-good conclusion that wraps up a beautifully balmy collection and another coup for step.
FINGER LICKING CHICKEN / BACK BREAKING LOVE (7 INCH)
7 Inch 13.06.16
it is more than astounding why this tune hasn t been resurrected for an ad for one of the many chain of fast food outlets. although the original 45 is neither superrare nor expensive, finger licken chicken is certainly one of the finest examples of philly funk. it was originally released on leoso but was re-released on the yew label. both sides were written by sonny fulton who teamed up with sandra for a killer r&b-ish funk cut on the flip titled back breaking love
