since the days of yard emcees (one little indian), through to the great ezcape, profisee has dropped food for thought. having featured and toured with audio visual geniuses hexstatic (ninja tunes) prof has collaborated on various releases (such as neil landstrumm, vent, capitol 1212, process rebel) showcasing his versatile style across a range of tempos and styles. profisee is set to solidify his status as a solo artist. championed by the likes of rinse, kiss fm and bbc radio 1, zoning is the first official release through cloak x dagger. produced by san francisco producer eprom, profs poignant flow takes the squelching beats & bass to another dimension

this is a long awaited release on theomatic from a russian-born (now czech-based) house-quartet d-pulse. this definitely should have happened before as all d-pulse members and theomatic’s commander andrei zakharov (an-2) are fellow-townsmen and have known each over many years. d-pulse are known for their expressive live performances (guitar, bass and keys), everything you hear they play live and their unique vibe can shake any audience, be it hip moscow cuties or shy hick-town chicks. the band’s hectic schedule has put this ep on hold for several months, but at last guys managed to organize themselves and lay final touches to the production. the a-side is a mellow, spaced-out disco jam called ‘prekrasna’ - the russian for ‘beautiful’, especially when referred to ladies. the dancefloor-aimed ‘moments’ on the flip side starts off with hypnotic, dubbed-out guitar and atmospheric synths laid over fat house beat. it gradually leads to the breakdown followed by guitar driven blast-off and takes you to the orbital heights from wherever you are.

world renowned bbc radio 1 dj gilles peterson compiles a spectacular collage mix tape from the vaults of far out recordings for this fifteenth anniversary celebration. a close friend to joe davis for 25 years, gilles peterson has been a constant supporter of the original and best uk based brazilian record label.

first release from this exciting new spanish label focused on future synth beats with enough funk to appease george clinton. this is the first release too for the spanish beatmaker hybakusha, a pioneer of the skweee sound in spain. gameboy lover is a noisy 8 bit robotic skweee track which mixes chip tune drums and cutting edge filtered synths in a crazy groove. on the other side there is a mesak remix of the same track. for those of you who have been napping for the last few years, mesak is one half of the electro outfit mr velcro fastener, he has released solo material on dexters klakson label and is one of the most prominent heads on the skweee scene. his remix treatment takes the track into more spacey and deep territory, giving this record the official and personal stamp of the finnish skweee.

s.c.u.m. is back and with a plate that ll rock you right off your socks! none other then zero g has been selected to drop his long lost ransom tune that has been cained by almost all the bigshots and even was featured in ruskos essential mix! now this tune finally sees the light of day and ready to rock the dance floors on a global scale. dj nicon of rotterdams subway crew was big fan of this tune from the start and was surprised this never got a release. so naturally this got scooped for his personal scum imprint asap! and of course no release is finished without a suitable b side so flip it over for scorpion! a brand new club banger that delivers the dubstep sound ever so crispy! if your into the heavy side of dubstep then get on this!! play support: skream, benga, walsh, marlow, seven, 501, reso, matt-u etc.

this time is all about peak time. alessio and virgil, masters of evil techno, board the boat with two amazing dance floor killers. the power of the one, on side a, has all the elements needed to make the crowd scream and jump: jackin drums and all those layers of crazy synths creating that tension we all love. on side b, kamun brings some elastic mayhem to our ears. again, a dark dense atmosphere is the vehicle over which the tension evolves. this time, its a fat sawtooth synth which adds all that frenzy to this peak time track.

oscar mulero delivers the original parts and version for this tune, reworked and revisited by the rest of the partners in crime: christian wunsch, exium and reeko, each one giving their own vision on the noises made by oscar.
original mix kicks off with broken rhythms, crunchy and industrial like, with a heavy synth line approaching till sweeping drones and abstract textures bring to an epic breakdown that will sure destroy more than one bass speaker. another energetic piece of intelligent dance floor techno.
wunschs work is more direct and 4x4 based, taking the synth line from the original and adding detroit flavoured stabs and sharp claps to make a massive techno tool.
exium offers a completely different vision, using the drones and textures as starring, plus arpeggiated synths and baroque percussions fills the arrangement. energy is the word for this remake.
closing release reekos version recreate the spirit of the original, with broken drums again, using the synths on a clever way, extending the arrangement longer on an epic development till the bass drum comes in after 3 minutes of metallic madness. the ultimate release of a series on the most eclectic way. absolute quality.

the first release on phonica white limited series is from tokyos iori. this young producers impressive work ranges from woozy ambient electronics to full-on club tracks. the common thread is a highly developed sense of texture and arrangement.a-side galaxy is simply lean, expertly crafted techno, led by a rolling bassline and crisp hi-hats, with hypnotic melody patterns skittering off the surface. its a trippy but accessible heads-down affair that has the depth and the bite to do damage at peak-time and in the after-hours alike. urge on the flipside is an even deeper, sub-heavy cut, an insistent, club-friendly groove swathed in burbling synth arpeggios and fx. despite being stripped-back, the sound design and sheer warmth of the production is incredible. the track really breathes.

the second installment in the split lp series is a dutch affair, but it has everything it needs and more to soon make name far abroad. each side of the record contains a complete work clocking in at about twenty minutes.
side a is >chime ep< by hydrus. the four tracks they contributed stand out because of their meticulous production and their wonderful sense of melody and emotion. this is music in the best electronic tradition, blending hiphop, idm, ambient, funk, drone and badass breaks. hydrus begins this twenty-minute journey with a funky bump and end it in a mess of nervous percussion, splintered to dust.
side b is an altogether positive and quirky piece of work by kettel. like most of his work of the last few years, >yellow baron< is exploding with beautiful melody. in six tracks kettel puts everything to work to make your head bop, to bring a smile to your face and a tear to the corner of your eye. classic stuff, without losing sense of experiment.

the eleventh episode of disco deviance comes straight out of liverpool in the uk from the emerging talent that is cosmic boogie. starting out as a collective (inspired by local dj legend greg wilson) based around the cosmic boogie website, which is dedicated to pushing groove based music and knowledge about the scene, cosmic boogie has developed into a dj persona and quality imprint in its own right.

uk house music and disco superhero rob mello has been instrumental in shaping the evolution of the uk sound since way back when. through labels like classic, luxury service and the way ahead of its time disco elements series on azuli in the 90s, not to mention countless innovative remixes and collaborations, his production output has shone out like a supernova for well over a decade. this is a return to songwriting, to tracks with longevity and a timelessness which transcends forgettable vogues. butterfly is the debut release from this dynamic quattro known as beulah heights - three producers/writers and one singer. a dream team collaboration between royal college of music and child prodigy lyn goddard, dj/producer and film scorer rob mello, producer/dj nathan boddy aka the illustrious office gossip and the amazing vocal talent of singer katie beadle. so here we have it, the majestic first release on beulah heights. a slowly pulsating monster of a cut, shot through with a futuristically executed homage to early 80s productions and more than enough girth to guarantee a powerful response from the floor. already road tested to rapturous response, this is an absolute beauty.

cornerstone could be considered one of alex turners finest creations. the follow up to crying lightning looks set to crossover as maybe only flourescent adolescent has before. the 7inch contains a brand new b side recorded during the humbug sessions entitled catapult.

flapjack records is super stoked to present its 4th vinyl edition. in this episode we have flapjack front man frankie j, who has recently earned himself honorable mention in the completely made up breakfast foods quarterly for his solid recipes during the sound republic era alongside solo releases and remixes on spatula city & flapjack. this release also features adelaide iron chef sonny fodera, fresh off his two smash releases from drop & guesthouse wasting no time in the kitchen with his slammin joints. together these two somalies of syrup bring you a maple syrup conglomerate of dynamite proportions.

badmotorfinger got lost amid the blockbuster success of nevermind and ten (all were released around the same time). but the fact is that, though they re all great records, badmotorfinger is much less accessible by comparison. not that it isnt melodic, but it also sounds twisted and gnarled, full of dissonant riffing, impossible time signatures, howling textural solos, and weird, droning tonalities. its surprisingly cerebral and arty music for a band courting mainstream metal audiences, but it attacks with scientific precision. part of that is due to the presence of new bassist ben shepherd, who gives the band its thickest rhythmic foundation yet and, moreover, immediately shoulders the departed hiro yamamotos share of songwriting duties. but its apparent that the whole band has greatly expanded the scope of its ambitions. and badmotorfinger fulfills them, pulling all the different threads of the bands sound together into a mature, confident, well written record. this is heavy, challenging hard rock full of intellectual sensibility and complex band interplay.

jo s undeniable cutting edge sound has carved her a niche in clubland. for our 15th edition we welcome smoking jo, one of the most talented djs and producers to emerge from the british dance music scene.

mike minds only previous release, >acid machine<, has been tigas most played record since it was made. a full-time turbo employee, he has spent the past few years getting his brain around making techno, and continues to impress us with his output. his debut ep, >resonate<, is something of a departure for our label, and one we are very proud of.
its amazing to have this kind of music coming directly out of turbo hq, it nails a sound that we have always tried to cultivate. minimal without being boring, trippy without being predictable, unafraid of melody, and with just enough analog imperfection and warmth to it.
both of the remixers we chose represent different sounds in techno that have influenced mikes sound.

giorgio gigli is an italian minimal-trance maestro, an incredibly modern renaissance man who is also a trained sommelier.** he is rising in the ranks and catching up in profile to his occasional production partner, donato dozzy. hopefully we will have more of his tracks on turbo soon.

hobo is a fellow canadian best known for his excellent work on m¦nus. rumor has it, he borrowed richies quad-macro template file to finish the final version of this remix... whatever he did, his second effort came up huge, this mix is excellent.

kebacid is the production alias for turbo all-stars jesper dahlbäck and jori hulkkonen. their previous releases on jespers defunct blank ltd are some of the best acid tracks of the decade. this is a monster that ought to keep all the die-hard turbo fans happy.

traversable wormhole has become one of the hottest mystery artist projects / series in the techno scene in 2009. crossing the spectrum from deep techno to hard techno, tw has even found its way into the dubstep scene. traversable wormhole has been played from a huge array of djs from many scenes. reports through the wormhole have heard tracks from tw played by world famous djs such as chris liebing, ben klock, marcel dettman, mathew herbert, andrew galluzi, surgeon, function, frankie bones, luke slater, surgeon, dj deep and a whole lot more. tw has many years experience in performing both as a live act and or djing with turntables under his his/she/there well known projects names. will tw reveal their identity on the upcoming worldwide tour that question remains unknown. tw is only getting hotter by the minute as traversing the wormhole continues with vol 5. improved packaging for your eyes

who would have thought it, techno djs playing filtered house... well, earlier this year it happened, and it was pittos >feelin< that caused the sensation. the original and superb dub, has gone on to become one of the biggest club releases of 2009.whispered rumour of a remix package has abound, and these were confirmed with early copies of a district one remix finding support amongst the dutch elite.well now its time to confirm the rumour, and not only bring you the district one remix, but bolster the package with a devastating remix from the master, joris voorn. edwin oosterwal and voorns rejected label keep on delivering the hits. long may it continue!

luke slaters mote evolver label is not pulling any punches. having shaken the techno scene to its boots last month with the release of ortin cams no-holes-barred >carnage<, the label moves on to their funky 13th release.
the name cari lekebusch is synonymous with what has made techno the musical powerhouse that it has become. globally recognized as a founding force behind the swedish techno movement alongside the triumvirate of adam beyer, jesper dahlbäck and joel mull, lekebuschs distinctive musical style and creative integrity has graced leading label from drumcode to soma to harthouse and turbo and spawned a career that has maintained over nearly two decades.
spindizzy is a deftly crafted funked-up tech house track. constructed from a palette of harmonically aligned keys, bass and horns, its intensity comes from the measured way in which each element is given the space to breath its own energy into the mix. pacey but musical, subtle yet memorable, this is a standout record.
luke slater adding his bass sodden l.b dub corp twist to the track completes the package. deeply dubbed-out tribal rhythms take the mix on a more left-of centre path that winds through a busy soundscape of atmospheric acoustics that seem to breathe in deeply before being exhaled in a release of firing percussion.

twentieth release in fat cats famed split series compilations, this record combines norways alog with sunroof! member astral social club.
active since 1997 and one of norways leading exponents of experimentalelectronic music, alog is the duo of espen sommer eide and dag-are haugan, mainstays at the rune grammofon label.
alogs unique, hybrid sound has since developed through four albums that have unfurled a series of abstract yet accessible, self-contained sound worlds, each animated with their own internal logic, mixing a wide variety of bothelectronic and acoustic sources into something warm, intricate and organic.
alog embrace the freedom to flit and root in the cracks between strands of minimalism, electronica, post-rock, improv and vernacular music, merging woozy, stuttering electronica (a la oval or nobukazu takemura), with rich, shoegazey guitars, freeform improvisation, scandinavian folk, field recording and the masterful editing and soundscaping of electroacoustic composition.
astral social club is the project of prolific scottish-born neil campbell, apivotal figure on the uk post-punk underground, with a vast catalogue and numerous collaborations.
a member of both matthew bowers total and sunroof! projects, he appeared on three of the latters albums before helping to form the hugely influential and prolific (over 40 releases) leeds-based drone/psych-rock outfit vibracathedral orchestra in 1998.
campbell left vco in 2006 to go solo as astral social club, under which moniker he has released a number of albums (on labels like vhf, important, qbico, textile) and an ever-increasing stream of self-released cdrs in alimited edition series of volumes (currently up to #19).
the three tracks here were recorded by campbell, john clyde-evans, paul walsh and spider stacy.

>smuck< has been given a home on the label alongside ikonikas remix of eero johannes for this 12 inch ... and what a pair they make.
>smuck< follows in the tradition of ikonika~rs sweet and sour, curdled sound, with ever changing off-key melodies and metal-like synth guitar lines over sweet chilled chords, the track takes her penchant for melodies that border on the atonal as far as it can go, like a sophisticated take on 8-bar grime.
her remix of eero johannes >we could be skweeeerooos< on the b-side simply switches up the tempo of the original, makes the rhythm nice and bouncy and tightens up the original adding some trademark bent melodies and a see-sawing bassline. the end result is a linear, melodic track that feels like its somewhere between wiley and aphex at their sweetest.

faisty records returns with its second offering of up front bass music, featuring two tracks crafted by dj and producer dom. suntime is a dark, brooding stomper sure to give your subs a workout whilst the flip side, tall tales has a lighter more energetic feel that is sure to bring a crowd to life. the brighton based producer dom has had a string of successful releases both on faisty records and on clandestine cultivations and his tracks regularly get crowds moving in clubs everywhere. watch out in the near future for forthcoming releases on faisty, clandestine and l2s.

you may not have heard so much from andre (aka &me) so far. instead of the flash and glitter associated with most of his producer colleagues, hes preferred to stay in the shadows, co-producing and ghost writing for artists like dj hell and terranova. now after putting out his first solo single on keinemusik, which was supported by all the key players (front room label boss jesse rose, luke solomon, gabriel ananda, danny tenaglia and dubfire plus many more) &me is finally ready to go public as they say. he may have taken some time to figure out his own style of blending techno and house music but now hes out theres really no escape. with a name like an attention deficit childs mantra its a wonder he stayed in so long. the on ep is an excursion into the type of techno dusted pulsating minimal house that has been so big for artists like luciano esse and arnaud le texier and which is heard on heavy rotation in berlin meccas like bar25. with a side on ever present digital squelches (reminiscent of a rolf harrris style wobble board) are laid over shakers, stripped-back beat and the familiar on vocal. its not hard to understand why tiefschwarz have been rinsing it for quite some time now as a huge afterhours groover. b side talking days, swimming in lush deep techno elements, weaves through more melodic territory but is no less infectious

over the years naples, italy has always been a hot spot for incredible dancefloor techno house. recently the re-formation of the cities freshest production duo (massi dl and dario di pace) was brought to the attention of cynosure recordings. of course we jumped on this release immediately and are very proud to present “horacio is back” “durango” is a sure fire, tried, tested and true bomb. a stunning combination of jackin new york basement style house with the finest side of “basic channel” berlin style techno.

rmxs by shonky, alex celler, sierra sam !! bloody mary’s black pearl made quite a splash this summer, receiving a storm of praise from djs and critics alike – especially impressive considering it was her debut album, as well as the first full-length record on contexterrior. awarded 4 out of 5 stars from dj mag and resident advisor, and getting play from a wide cast of djs (tiefschwarz, adam beyer, luciano and so on), black pearl has set itself apart as contender for techno album of the year!

aduly only 36 introduces yakine on a + b with a julien chaptal remix. drop it - a jackin, upbeat house cut with lots of bounce to the ounce. solid groovy swing, thick bassline, and some bboy vox stabs for some in yo face hits. nice and tracky, take it to for a lengthy mix in or out, its a pick up. stickney - punchy and tracky with a tight roll for a smooth, jazzier drop stickney is asking for a prime time spot in the set. splashed with a little chi filter, the bassline roll brings the kicker. hot track with smoldering style. julien chaptal remix has a pop-lockin house feel to it with its sliced and diced elements, this is a tight jam. sweet build for a stack full of speakers, could be dirty or classy, either or this tracks works a sweaty floor.

limited to 500 copies! hot on the heels of this years maxi single, erol alkan and boys noize proudly present the stunning chilly gonzales piano rework of waves. the legendary entertainist has been a long time friend of alkans (he was also the only performer to play his london niteclub trash 3 times during its decade long existence) and has currently been putting the finishing touches to his boys noize produced next album, set for release next year. released november 23rd on an extremely limited edition 10 inch of 500, the piano rework comes backed with a spoken word episode from chilly explaining how one would translate a club banger into something your grandfather could get with! fresh off his guinness world record performance (27 hours, 3 minutes and 44 seconds), chilly will also be appearing at a londons la pigalle as part of a residency every wednesday throughout november for a series of piano talk shows, each featuring a cameo appearance from friends.

the choice of anja schneider for remix duties was an obvious one, the pair first met on a shuttle bus to an event and in short stead paul was co-writing for anja, becoming part of the driving force behind her huge debut album ‘beyond the valley’, now she pulls out all the stops to reciprocate with this standout reworking.
first up on the package is the anja schneider remix of ‘three weeks’, the opening cut from paul’s recent album. here the pair, deconstruct the parts and rebuild things into a deep and hypnotic version that has instant dancefloor appeal stamped all over it. solid, chunky drums rub up against simple spacey synth lines and warm pads to huge effect. bearing in mind the superb quality of the original this is a job well done, and a real addition to this great package.
next we have the original of ‘three weeks’, a track named after the extensive time it took to record. paul had originally intended to record the album in 6-8 weeks, then ended up spending nearly half of his allocated time on this opener. but it has to be said it was worth the effort. this is a slice of solid tech inspired house with subtle vocal elements and a musicality that cuts through the records club based nature. excellent stuff.
finally we have diamant flute, another winner from the ‘me, myself and live’ album. deep and highly engaging this again displays paul outstanding talents as a producer, weaving melodic elements deep into the mix and retaining an incredible underground electronic sound.

supported by monika kruse, adam beyer, jakob hilden, dave seaman, laurent garnier, kiko, john digweed, nic fanciulli, barem, chris liebing, danny tenaglia. yes, the world can be a cocktail and kaiserdisco are surfing on a wave of success following their track espandrillo. espandrillo made it into the richie hawtin us bus tour 2009 chart and has been re-entering charts worldwide for numerous times since. we think that with amalfino kaiserdisco will be hitting the top 10 charts of many dj s again. amalfino is a strong driving percussive track that builds on child vocals, creating a bit of a fairy-light atmosphere within a massive production. bailetteo is a track that can be understood a bit as a continuation of amalfino working with similar vocals but has less of a peak time formula. with >carachillo< kaiserdisco have added a cool and deep, housy track with indian vocals and samples, which could be cool for the house community.

nice price deal !!! after a summer of midnight studio sessions and surprise shows, da hardy boyz (aka blu jemz, unemployed lloyd, and sterryo) have finally emerged to the bright surface with their debut ep. opener here i a whispers to their formative period as a cheeky german techno - ron hardy tribute band (we re keeping the demos under wraps). dont take it too seriously... but take those arthur baker inspired beats and synths seriously. the instrumental i want you there pays homage to the cosmic disco 12inches the boyz love so much and sets up the club heater hardy time. this club mutant has been getting the hardest love at shows with its hard drums, new wave basslines and echoed lyrics. for the cherry on top, dfas runaway deliver one of their finest remixes, completely deconstructing here i am into a minimal disco hit.

already played by the likes of: 2000 and one, dubfire, loco dice, butch... his impeccable taste for producing good music combined with his great deck skills has enabled him to play together and be played by major djs such as michael mayer, miss kittin, guido schneider, onur Özer, loco dice & sven väth..

bodo elsel has only done a handful of records and the two that i have known and loved since 1998 were put out on playhouse, the excellent housey sister-label of mighty klang elektronik. one track in particular, discount baby, has always stood out in my mind as a high water mark in the sacred art of groove (you may have heard of it). punchy accents and resonant bass layered with trippy vocal loops, its dubby acid house of the highest order, made by a mysterious german lego-master, who the a&r team of mike mind and thomas st shindig managed to coax back into activity.
it only took bodo a year to answer mr. minds email, but he eventually delivered three amazing tracks... >haustier< revitalizes piano house. >mai< is incredible, and >mein haus< is one of the top few all-time expressions of the greatness/meaning of germany, putting it in the fine company of the autobahn, sven väth and christmas-market schwein. nice wibes!!
the icing on the cake was that bodo made it very clear he wanted no part in royalties or any of that business crap... he just wanted 42 copies of the record. yes. 42.
we were so inspired by all of this that we decided to put this record out in a different way for us that just feels right this time.... if you want to find out just how good the >mein haus ep< is, you will have no choice but to buy a copy of the 12 inch because this one is a vinyl exclusive!
