cd powder is an alchemist of time. her ceremonious dj sets invite listeners and dancers to extend their imaginations to abstracted spaces, while allowing the body to vessel the voyage in free, flowing style. playful, thoughtful, and natural without knowing, powderÕs crates encourage abandonment of arbitrary boundaries and expectations surrounding genre, movement, schedule, and societal convention to revel, spirited and harmonious, in the passage of time. momoko goto relocated from her hometown of nagasaki, japan to tokyo in 2011. this is where the story of powder, as the international dance music community knows her, begins. with the change in location came a change in lifestyle, where a balance of 9-to-5 office life and sacred, nocturnal recording sessions invited moko to reflect on musics unique ability to stop the clock and expand or shrink our sense of time.

anders trentem¿llers career is a travel-heavy one, with his touring schedule taking him pretty much all over the world. but its his home port thats inspired his latest project, the sprawling, stunning compilation mix Ôharbour boat trips vol. 02: copenhagen. clocking in at just over an hour long, the compilation sees trentem¿ller curate and craft sixteen songs into a heavy, hazy mix that ranges from shoegaze to electronica, featuring both familiar and celebrated artists like a place to bury strangers (with a new trentem¿ller remix) and slowdive to more obscure finds, as well as trentem¿llers own tracks and remixes, most notably a brand new trentem¿ller cover of neil youngs classic Ôtransformer man. the mix sees him pick up a thread he left off earlier in his career. in 2009 he put together Ôharbour boat trips - 01: copenhagen, a compilation mix comprised of his favourite music, both danish and international, from across four decades, loosely inspired by the motion and movement of copenhagens busy harbour. closing in on a decade later, were getting the second edition, with Ôharbour boat trips - 02 arriving this november.

mere is a new project that began as a soundtrack and continues as an experimental, dark-ambient jazz group. guitar, drums and bass clarinet provide an intense and improvised journey into the abyss. the trio first came together to work on a soundtrack for a dutch tv documentary called visserman. having known each other for some time this was the first time they had combined together to write music and the name mere comes from the dutch word for more. each member adds a different influence to the sound, the modal finger picked guitar playing of thomas adds a sense of movement while gareth takes both folk and free jazz ideas to play against leos free rock influenced drum work. the tracks were recorded all in single takes with just a quick discussion of outline and tuning as a basic guide. gareth davis records on important, miasmah, sonic pieces, dekorder, home normal etc. collaborating with machinefabriek, steven r. smith, scanner, frances marie uitti, ryan teague, elliott sharp, ian hawgood and the like. leo fabriek releases on digitalis, home normal etc. and is also the drummer with the noise rock band julie mittens.

more than a portrait: a legend!
a movie/reportage (french & english subtitled) about one of paris oldest free party tribe. can be very interesting over 2 points of view: one just because you like hardtek tribe and free parties, or because you want to discover this movement with a sociological point of view.
the movie itself is very well done and the original soundtrack for this movie just good as expected: the life of this sound system is typical of what happens with techno tribes... for the best and for the worst. an important documentary, interviews are very honest.

the rhythms have a house/techno/breakbeat influenced feel but with less heft, with a bleepy downtempo character and movement without boominess, like four people clapping in their living room before heading out for the evening. through this, he creates a sense of minor drama, the kind that doesnt call attention to itself, but sneaks up on you with its haunting, focused sense of melodic timing.
