when people think of tuff gong they usually think of bob marley and rightly so, as he was nicknamed and often called tuff gong and from this his early releases which came out on the tough gong label. but tuff gong was also the name of a recording complex named after bob marley hat included a top level recording studio, pressing plant and distribution centre that would allow reggae music to carry on many years after his sad and too early demise. we focus for this release on the work carried out by the great scientist on the songs of the black solidarity label run by ossie thomas (aka joe the boss) recorded at tough gong studios. one of the foremost recording, pressing and distribution facilities on the jamaican island set up from the work of bob marley to carry forward reggae music. hope you enjoy this set.

dead fader returns with new ep sun copter, which precedes a forthcoming full length album. *sun copter* introduces a new sound as dead fader s pallet gains new range and depths, using analogue technologies in conjunction with the digital techniques he is well known for. dead fader is the alter ego of john cohen, former brighton resident, now in berlin, who has worked relentlessly since 2007 to realise his vision of electronic music. his tracks are characterised by pioneering sound explorations, which on one hand oscillate between sonic extremities and on the other hand carefully craft cinema-scope sound worlds. the vinyl release includes a downloadcode.

ben cohen is a french dj based in paris. he started to play music at the end of the 90’s and produces undefined house/techno with esoteric references invoking the hazy contours of the ever mystical inner zones. he has released two eps on the french label badance and recently voyage to rahoz on bliq. his first appearance on dba was on the various artists excursion dab019.5.

dynarec started making music in 1994. his productions, influenced by drexciya and dopplereffekt, are a mix of deep atmospheric pads and leads with – cool to very heavy – drums.his first releases on delsin in 2003 and 2004 were picked up by dj’s such as laurent garnier and dave clarke. after some more records on nature and kondi, he started his own « vaporwave » label in 2005, four records were released to date. he is able to fill in some very emotional and melodic workout that makes you wonder, how is he able to do that? playing piano since he was 6 years old could be an answer to his performing skills. apart from delsin, nature and kondi, he has also released on southern outpost, electrix and lately, on keith tucker’s puzzlebox label (us) and on cultivated electronics (uk). dynarec also releases music under the names of speakwave and chris kalera. he has performed worldwide, including festivals such as the famous stereolize, in paris, and the amsterdam dance event, amongst others.

after 12 digital releases in 3 years muttis mischkonsum comes up with its first vinyl. its packed with four tracks, two originals from the labelartists max perow and marquez lux on the a-side and two remixes from sebo and eliazar on the b-side, wich are originally from another labelartist, this is heinz. the compilation -muttis mischkonusm- is clearly made for the dancefloor. the sound is deep with a touch of techouse, house and techno.

this album is another chapter in the ongoing there s-muchmore-to-brazil than-bossa-nova saga. it s filled with disco-eratracks produced for the brazilian domestic marketplace, some of which were hits, others which were quite obscure. what binds them all together - besides their common origins, time period and overall musical approach - is the fact that their reputation has been steadily transcending brazils borders. this has allowed these tunes to find their place on set lists, want lists and in the crates of the world s most discerning djs and tastemakers.

hypnosaurus is a legendary and unclassifiable estonian techno act that proved to be very influential throughout its somewhat reclusive career. a great set with some real fire inside...some serious mindbenders on here. tip!

the enigmatic danced til midnight graces the debut release for brand new uk label thylacine sounds. bringing together elements of disco, funk, hip hop, afrobeat, complemented perfectly by the spirit-channelling of the likes of fela kuti, babe ruth, chicago transit authority, via francis grasso and larry levan, over the four tracks... danced til midnights *sun bleach* ep is built for dancing, a treat for the ears and the feet. with a special appearance from vinyl hero tall black guy on the collaboration *wheat bread and eggs*, this is an audacious and energetic debut for the label and the artist, and a clear statement of intent of further gems to come on thylacine sounds.

arguably all but the most dedicated fans will have long forgotten most significant beat, a post industrial early 90s techno project from former clock dva man maurizio martinucci and esplendor geonetrico s saverio evangelista. this surprise vinyl compilation tells the story of their previously cd-only late 90s work, throwing in a previously unheard workout, the angular rhythms and sheffield bleeps of geometric state for good measure. for the most part, the material has aged remarkably well, and sits somewhere between the forthright madness of autechre, the spacey techno of detroit-via-frankfurt (see amy tekno) and the buzzing intensity of surgeon.

tengrams are brothers alessandro and davide piatto, who collectively have a deep and long understanding of dance music. davide runs the n.o.i.a. label and was one of italy s first touring electronic live acts, performing and recording with drum machines and synthesizers as early as 1978. he was also behind seminal italo outfit klein + m.b.o and proto house hit dirty talk. since then they have released under an array of aliases, have clocked up many hits and this new project brings them back to their electronic roots, with influences like sci-fi movies and old school techno looming large.
