detboi was bought to metalheadz attention via special request and immediately signed up for a project. as it turned out detboi was a long life metalheadz fan and the news of the signing could was absolute music to the dubliners ears. goldie immediately added his sparkle to the title track joyride whilst detboi polished off the rest of the ep. we look forward to releasing more of his music.

deep love is the first vinyl release by stefano pozzi, dj producer and musician. it’s very difficult to define his sound: his creative process led him to merge several genres in a very original way. the artist shows us a great talent combining different electronic styles from deep house to soulful house, new jazz and chill out music. stefano is also a guitar player. with his releases, he shows us how to bring guitar sounds together with electronic music in a brilliant way. in this 12 inch ep, that could be defined as deep house, the artist has worked to merge various elements of house music: the warm sound of a moog organ with a deep drum kick, the use of hypnotic and rhythmic vocal samples, the presence of many jazz and soul contaminations due to the acoustic guitar.

nice price deal !!! echovolt expands its remit with the launch of a new series of mini-albums with the first edition coming from templeyard studios, a recently formed project of berlin-based greek artists miltiades and goolyk. met for the first time in berlin in 2014 and pretty soon started sharing sonic ideas and researching how they could affect the human brain, using hardware sound equipment.

quite a few months have passed since adam port released his last original material on keinemusik. it’s been almost too long. but then again, every expert will confirm, you won’t see a “sonnenfinsternis” every other week. port’s new ep is going under the name of that very astronomical curiosity and accordingly, the like-titled cut on a can only be the result of a rare cosmic constellation. it starts with a spoken word field recording. could it be, someone secretly recorded parts of the internal pre-release labelmeeting? we’ll leave that to your imagination. but then, all solid facts. a forceful beat, decorated with hihat-hiss, stoically pounding synthbass, rattling snare-staccato and space-opening synth-layers. finally, some siren’s wailing, just in case someone didn’t get the immediacy of this material. classy floor substance, that is, with the scarcity value of an eclipse. “working for it”, as the first track on the flipside, is rather going for the deeper realms. this coproduction with jennifer touch, a singer/producer that just moved from leipzig to berlin, is built up on a cosy, warm synth-priming, that touch congenially contrasts with her undercooled wavy vocals. an emotional rollercoaster, if you will.

trolldans once again opens its musical tome of fairy tales, this time featuring the gif-ted sound sculptor edanticonf. in his chapter of the trolldans volume, edanticonf presents us with the three crying fairies. it is a tale in four parts of desire and tears - as every good story should be. the first fairy tells us about a lake in the deep woods where a young princess called tuvstarr once lost her gold heart. no creature of the forest could convince the princess to let it go, and so she stayed there by the black lake until she turned into a beautiful flower. the second fairy tells us how the princess, before she lost her precious necklace, would ride like the wind through the forest on the back a grand elk. the princess loved the thrill and the elk loved the princess. vril steps in and actually lets us hear the noble elks heart racing from both the pace and his devotion to tuvstarr. the third fairy ends endanticonfs beautiful but melancholy tale with a glimmer of hope: by the darkest of lakes, the loveliest flo-wers grow. the end.

when we signed bosq s tumbala featuring puerto rican legend tempo alomar on vocals last year we knew that it was a multi-cultural masterpiece. we also knew that giving it a boost for the club could take it to a whole other stratosphere. so we enlisted another one of our favorite multi culti producers, auntie flo to take it for a spin, and boy did he turn out a club jam!

crimes of the future rounds off the year in fine style with an absolutely essential ep from twins. 3 moody us house cuts straught out of atlanta and a sublime deep remix from label boss scott fraser. opening up with cause of dissociation, a slice of banging chicago house that would not have been out of place in the hands of mike dunn at the warehouse. rattling drums amd percussion a cut up vocal and a killer bassline make for dancefloor devastation. next up -you take too- takes things a little deeper, maintining the groove with chicago inspired percussion and filtered drums and stabbing synths grooving the track along. over on side b scott fraser takes -you take too- on to 5am on a dark smoke filled dancefloor, with a deep bassline and soaring strings. adding additional percussion, keys and swirling echoes... could be the sound of a lost nu groove classic. finally things close out with -a way from now- with more chicago inspired goodness with a funky bassline, pumping percussion and eerie ethereal keys rounding the ep off in fine style.

this track has been in my computer since a little while when dj sotofett joined me here in amsterdam, to play an epic back to back at the school (amazing new club here). when i am doing a track, it could go to a lot of different directions as im jamming them for hours in my pipe studio. i sometimes could get lost. so i asked sotofett to join me in the studio to help to finish it. then we ended with those 2 versions of cham, which are, as often when i work with the sextags man, the result of live takes almost unedited. we also add some percussions from shadi khries and we recorded two versions of the same track within hours. one being bass driven with a lot of psychedelic noises and the other one more space-techno. our adventures continues, here is another slice of spaced out music.hope you ll enjoy.

after his turn in conga radio, roberto makes his debut on good timin with four-tracks of classy bangers. leading the charge is the shuffling -junk rudder,- a piece of flanged out club gear that has the grace and grit to take any party to -that next level.- meanwhile, -atomic- is a not-quite peak-hour stomper, while -oceanic- is the sound of goa trance if the drug of choice was high-end coconut water. finally, -twilight- sounds like something bruce hornsby might cook up if he got arrested and could only talk to his lawyer through a broken moog.

fantastic voyage’s autumn 2015 release of soul for dancers proved so successful, that we didn’t have to think twice when lois wilson (mojo, record collector) asked if she could do it all over again. it turns out that there were plenty more classic sides in her dj crates, drawing on that rich seam of early soul and proto-soul rhythm & blues, of the sort that would have packed the dancefloors on the sixties club scene, or has been embraced by subsequent generations of club soul diehards.

the jazzinvaders went back into the studio after two successful tours with hammond legend dr lonnie smith and the brazilian fusion group azymuth. the jazzinvaders decided it would be fun to spend some time in the studio to see if they could come up with a disco-jazz album.

italian producer and be free label head jäger makes his debut on underyourskin records with a haunting ‘mystical journey‘ that turns out to be a playful minimalistic techno approach in the beginning, before evolving into a dark synth driven and more techhouse dominant tune gaining its dancefloor eligibility with a heavy baseline. louis kolben, part of agents of time, takes on the technoid approach to create a wobbling stomper that could easily tear in any location it is played at. ‘mizar‘, the ep‘s second track, partly connects with regards to content to ‘mystical journey‘ but focussing merely on that dreamy aspect that claims its listeners and leads one to a state of trance. steffen sonnenschein builds up the track slower to delay its peak that hits heavily when the synth sounds are let loose and set the pace throughout the end.

our third release untitled emerges as a moody four tracker born in matteo luis home studio. the title track is the driest start off there could be. it monotonously heads for the tracks climax in manner of a cyclone, a straight stomper that evolves its full strength within its last solution, surprising with an acidic and dubby face that makes you want to dive right into the dashing structure of its last minutes.

schwefelgelb is the electronic music project of sid & eddy. having carefully straddled the boundaries between techno, ebm and electro, the duo is entering 2016 with a 12” release on the new label incarnation of the berlin based fleisch collective. fleisch consists of a group of miscreants known for throwing some of the best curated dark underground dance parties in berlin, with a focus on sounds ranging from e.b.m., new beat, acid to techno. the metamorphosis of fleisch into a label could not demand a more fitting debut than schwefelgelb’s newest sonic discharge. tight programming, catchy analog synth-bass coupled with well utilized & frenetic shouted vocals echo the golden age of electronic body music. a refreshing progression of sounds moves the style forward without being afflicted with the formulaic and hollow tendencies befallen similar attempts by others acts over the years.

“prÉvision #02” is the second compilation and third vinyl of forecast label, french record label originated in 2012. it gathers six house, electronica and techno tracks in varied styles for various artists. the original idea was to make artists exchanges ideas together to create tracks that would exactly define each one’s identity. while cheaper shepherd’s “weasels” show again their shiny and catchy vintage house, romain play explores several music genders through a train trip across jazz, psychedelic rock and house. the new comer roman s releases his first track ever, showing his talent for groove and minimal house. on the b-side, d°c, breilitz and sir squi explore three kinds of techno. first track of this side, “erebus” shows a kompakt-like new wave but club-oriented techno. “raw interference” could without any doubt be played at berghain. last track, “(crashed)” is on the psychedelic slope of techno. it uses a sitar, to ends the compilation on a shinier note.

for the latest instalment in the apollonia story we look to argentina and the talented producer federico molinari. having been based in germany for the last couple of decades, federico has refined his sound, developing a strong signature through his dj sets and his studio productions, most of which he has released via his label oslo. federicos ability to craft effortless grooves and timeless rhythms is evident here on this killer new three-tracker. side a is the eight-minute long roller * congo toys*. the focus here is on a crisp 4x4 beat, which keeps things simple – under this lies a sturdy bassline. all the while, the low end is accompanied by a series of bleeps, which could almost be the chatter between two archaic computers, modulated and weaving in and out of the beats and bass. on the flip, we have two more dance floor-ready joints. like * congo toys*, * tres cuartos* is focused around a simple foundation, with layers of unusual effects – an overriding sense of playfulness comes through in molinaris production, perfect for the boogie down crew. last up, * joyfex* takes us further into leftfield, hypnotic, hazy atmospherics draw us into their web and we are tangled up in a mesh of vibrating whirrs and echoing, distorted voices. sublime business from an apollonia favorite…

paris-based label sounds benefit adds the second release to his catalogue, where label owner s tom joyce teams up with leaves, iron curtis, stojche and ben cohen, to offer what could be the soundtrack of a walk into the grey landscapes of the new iram, with reference to the mysterious city of a thousand pillars.

on a fishing trip two years ago, the two main guys behind africaine 808: d leyers and nomad - went to a tackle shop to buy some creepy crawlies (saltwater worms), not knowing that they were about to make a life changing discovery. in front of the shop a blind man was jammming on a little electronic organ, stomping his feet, singing, growling and basically making a scene. the boys were quite impressed with the fella, who introduced himself as blind double d . they offered to bring him home and record him. he turned the offer down, but offered instead that they could record him on the spot in front of the tackle shop - if they bought him a bottle of good bourbon. he explained that he would never set foot into a studio again in his life: he was sick of music production and the music industry in general, and that he just wanted this bottle of bourbon and to be left alone. the boys got him the bottle, and recorded blind d.d. on the spot with a tape recorder they borrowed from the tackle shop. unfortunately, the tape was stored in one of the tackle boxes over the trip, and some of the creepy crawlies crawled into the tape and stank it all up. this added some extra funk to the recording. with dirk and nomad s usual studio trickery and production skills, they created the two versions of this very very funky, creepy, stanky track. we hope you ll enjoy it as much as we do.

2016 sees the 3rd anniversary of houndstooth, and the label mark this with their 50th release. tessellations is a compilation of brand new, exclusive tracks from each of the 14 artists to release on the label. the release serves to simultaneously trace common threads and highlight tensions within such a stylistically expansive roster. this 12inch sampler collects four dancefloor-leaning cuts onto vinyl for the first time. the atmospheric jungle of special requests live from alpha centauri could be the soundtrack to an intergalactic chase scene, whilst akkords vector grinds gradually towards an explosion of mechanistic breaks, like an ancient machine brought to life. cant stop sees marquis hawkes dusting down the 303 for a playful yet powerful acid banger, before second storeys elephant ride draws syncopated funk from his machines in his inimitable style.

reversed is the fourth album from french composer / sound designer franck zaragoza and his ever-expressive ocoeur nom de plume. the opening swell and passionate piano that precedes it sets the tone for what could very well be zaragoza s most personally ardent set of compositions to date. zaragoza thoughtfully augments his modern solo piano compositions with creative, some might even say organic, sound design and meticulous melancholic string harmonies. reversed is without a doubt a truly personal listening experience meant to be absorbed again and again.

coming straight out of melbourne with plentiful attitude, producer/multi-instrumentalist silentjay teams up with fellow hiatus kaiyote backing vocalist, jace xl to present sacrifice, a mini album of epic proportions. at once sincere and heartfelt, the songs do not shy away from the playful influence of 90s rnb - a sound that is a defining influence on this ep, which despite clocking in at just under 30 minutes, attains a level of artistry and conceptual cohesiveness that many artists could only dream of. another very serious record, from an impossibly fertile melbourne scene that is quickly becoming the envy of the world.

after his successful remix of orions gravity johannes volk returns to polytone with his debut ep. two excellent techno tracks are in place and a spaced out ambient piece called it could happen describes the mysterious view from a spacecraft cockpit into the wideness of the universe. on the a-side volk blows the whistle of the ep s title -asteroid riding- with funky chords accompanied by a wide deep bassline, short samples, classic percussions and a cropped stomping kick-drum, that let you ride through the orbit. on the b-side -earthbound- pounds with a broad hollow kick, arpeggiated synths, alerting sounds and a harmonically settled type of string-line that eases the elements diversity like the blue planets gravity. within the tracks that have been built to transport the feel of time and space, johannes volk again pushes himself on the cutting edge of electronic music.

a1 nubian mindz - deep in raves: well known for his versatile and rich production, colin delivers once more. with a quite suitable name - deep in raves is just that. a deep plunge into dark and rave-like atmosphere. after a short intro layered with an ominous voice, massive bassline takes over and drives the track through the darkest curves. enriched with short percussions and a synth stab this is quite a stomper best experienced on a good club soundsystem, preferably in the dark. a2 volster - nebula: almost obsessed with audio purity, volster manages to combine new and modern sounds with old-school genre roots. nebula is all about complexity. although it is based on an electro foundations, it s so much more. space filled with an oscillatory synth motion perplexed with smooth pads that gives the impression of an interstellar properties. no detail is left unengaged, from the 808 that keeps everything in motion to the subtle amount of panning. this is a beautifully crafted story by a producer who is slowly but steadily growing into one of the best croatian artists. b1 lucretio - dracula: the most famed beard of cadoneghe/italy has pulled another magic gem from his music source. widely known for his relentless tendency to push the analogue spectrum to it s extreme, lucretio surprises once more with his ability to blend simple pieces into an effective sub storm with almost comic like features. dracula is not your conventional tune and it s pretty obvious why as soon as you put the needle on. broke down rhythm is heavily fueled by polished but enormous sub background with sparse and ¥in your face¥ shots. seemingly random notes take a gloomy and powerful form during the break and soon the lurky atmosphere comes into picture. this is truly brilliance in it s full simplicity. if only bram stoker could hear this, he would probably be both stunned and amused! b2 james booth - jxst do it: one of our goals on vakum is to be on a lookout for a new and promising talents. berlin based james booth surely fits the bill. jxst do it is a seriously crafted track with rich rhythmic section wrapped in a steady build up. after the initial break-beat intro sliced in short chunks, subtle 303 bassline takes over and the rhythmic game begins. booth delivers a perfectly timed cuts accompanied by a diverse palette of percussions. this is a perfect piece for those build up moments in the club..
