f.s. blumm aka frank schültge from berlin has been making marvelous music for many years now. be it solo like on his latest album (pingipung in 2013) as part of the subtle folk-duo -bobby & blumm- or as a sound- scape researcher at the side of nils frahm. but even though f.s. blummbastic sees the light of day for the very first time in this release, the combina- tion of dub and blumm is not new: he is part of the quasi dub development (qdd). the collective around blumm and luca fadda from new york recently released the album -little-twister vs stiff-neck- with features by lee scratch perry or lady ann on pingipung in 2014. these -riddims and biscuits- came to live during the creation of material for future qdd-concerts. f.s. blummbastic played all instruments himself, rhythm guitar, organ and of course bass to send the results the the colleagues in new york. soon it was clear: these riddims have the most impact in their reduced form. theyd like to stand alone and get played back loudly. for the drums f.s. blummbastic brought helmut erler aka hey from hey-Ø-hansen into the qdd cosmos. not only did he bang the drums, but he has also mixed, mastered and cut the vinyl of this album.

helsinki based label friendship & decadence was setup to tap in to the helsinki electronic music scene and highlight those young and talented producers who inhabit the city. the first release comes via the collective known as joint minds, comprising of three artists autoexec, poly sone & miss kade. the 2 tracks are both live jams recorded using a host of outboard and analogue equipment. -commotion- fills the a-side of the vinyl with a throbbing acid bassline and pulsating industrial stabs, whilst the flip side takes a more stripped back approach. with -headstuck-, a delayed piano floats around rolling drum pattern, uk techno influences aplenty.

with his last ep offering on keinemusik, &me displayed himself once again as supplier of anthems that easily reconcile style with general floor purpose. you would think, such an universal and inexhaustible tune as this very “after dark” can only be a lucky hit. but no, he’s knocking out the classic material just like that. another example? catalog number km028, his brandnew “trilogy” ep. the titletrack on a initially places a synth arpeggio behind a kick that in dryness is hardly to excel. the beat of -trilogy- is then seasoned with rimshot patterns until the saturated bassdrum comes in and paves the way to the dancefloor. &me even refines his knack for stoic grooves on this jam and once again shows his sure feeling for suitable vocal features. sabotas croon comes devoid of big gestures and still knows the ropes to appeal to the collective mentality of a clubcrowd. on the flipside, “woods” is living up to its name from the very beginning. woody percussions are thumping within an almost subtropical scenario that’s frequently pervaded by mighty synth clouds. and once again, there’s an arpeggio sneaking in that at some point is taking the lead in this strictly instrumental affair. add a break building that will educe a floor’s complete euphoric potential without going for the rather mindless escalation and there you have it: a b-side that’s actually more of an a-competitor.

next up on i m in love is the launch of their new serie iil limited with the intention to provide a platform dedicated to release music with a greater focus on analogue, raw-sounding house & techno apart of the labels main work with a limitation to 50 vinyls only. the two track ep comes from buenos aires based artist matheu 646 who is an essential part of the argentian techno/house scene for more than ten years now. besides constantly playing various clubs around south america, be it solo or as one part of the dj duo proyecto house, he is the co-founder of buenos aires sound culture, a music collective organising one of the cities best underground parties! the a-side comes with a heavy kick, a changing 303 bassline and hypnotic chords which gives us a good example of matheu 646s approach to the deeper side of techno. *grey winds* is an old-school sounding jam with deep chords and melancholic strings, finished by energetic, classic claps!

the original, with a well-constructed bassline incorporates a warm up melody that begins to set the tone for the night ahead. each layer is distinct as the track begins to build itself right to its crescendo when each of those individual layers collectively come together. you can distinctly hear the 80 s like synths that are cleverly inserted into the track which are highlighted by the female vocal samples. the grittier elements add a touch of darkness and instantly transport you to a warehouse club with an intimate atmosphere. the remix, done by the widely loved tech-house duo pleasurekraft jack up the tempo a notch, and add a bouncy groove to the track. where the original brought out a darker side, the remix is more upbeat and settles in well for a peak hour set. bringing that crisp bassline to the fore, and tuning out the melodies to make them a tad subtler it showcases a more tech-house version of the original. there s an added element a slightly more haunted vibe which is coupled together with those gritty and harder elements. all i can conclude is what a tech-house bomb this is from the highly talented pleasurekraft. they always manage to bring something new and unique to every single track they ve ever remixed which truly shows their remarkability as consistently good producers.

kenny dope and louie vegas nu-yorican soul project was responsible for some of the biggest underground club hits to come out of nyc throughout the 1990s, their collective vast musical knowledge, impeccable taste and legendary status as djs in the city only helped elevate them to the highest level.

jason mouse is a veteran electronic music producer currently based in san francisco.he is regarded as one of the pioneers of drum n bass in the us and was initially signed to londonbased dubshack records. as a well respected bay area musician he was an active member of the phunckateck collective and released his productions in classic labels such as green label and sm:)e communications. he continues to collaborate with local prominent figures such as ufo! with whom he coauthored the late 2011 release comfort kills on subdepth records. as an artist up to speed with electronic music development and a vast experience jason mouse delivers his new release on la flaca recordings at slower tempo, invading 4x4 territory with evolving melodies, diverse textures, and drawing parallels from techno and house with a drum n bass aesthetic.

the first release from nm black is ganja man, ganja woman, produced by nm’s new signing killa mosquito, a production collective fresh on the scene fronted by curtis lynch. in keeping with the necessary mayhem tradition, the bass is at its maximum and the drums are even heavier. this bass-heavy track features vocals from international reggae star, mr williamz, as well as a host of samples from old-school reggae soundtapes. on side b of the release, there is an exclusive dub from killa mosquito entitled ganja dub. less vocals, more bass!

like hardly any other ambassador of modern rhein main house music, christian burkhardt has experienced a true rocket-like takeoff in the last year. burkhardts cocoon debut ep stopover goa has, after one year, still a place of honour in many djs record cases. also his legendary live set in the pouring rain at last years green & blue may belong to the lasting memories of a life dedicated to electronic music. the heidelberg-born producer has already worked for la peña, raum…musik and oslo, and his collaborations with einzelkind and sascha dive became a talking point, too. with his second ep for cocoon, he again sets new standards. theres nobody around who is able to alienate vocals from the collective memory of afro-american culture into a hallucinogenic cocktail without harmful side effects in such a way than burkhardt is. nevertheless, and despite the massive, forward-pushing bass drum and hand claps, he never loses the focus of his soul. so - open your mind, we wish you lots of fun with heart and mind and the considerably acid-like waffles, while the tropical-hypnotic seagull atmosphere of twentysecondcenturydrama already whets the appetite for the upcoming club summer season of 2012.
