bar musica is a brand new label that promises to inject plenty of charm and originality into the underground house and techno world. the first release kicked up quite a storm from label owner bartolomeo, and the second release features a trio of great originals by j paraguai, with a remix from long time electronic talent bruno pronsato. rumba is up first and is a full fat, corrugated house track with tribal percussion, punchy drums that swing down low and afro vocals. it is a dynamite groove with roughshod tin pot hits that are carefully treated and bring a lovably wild side to the track. thesoundsays founder and berlin based new yorker bruno pronsato has been on the fringes of the underground for more than a decade with inventive eps and lps on labels like hello? repeat and bosconi. his remix is stripped back to a forceful and rubbery techno groove. blistered synths rip up the middle and spooky voices, trippy effects and manic loops all make it a freaky late night or after-hours tune that will send floors wild. ble is then another j paraguai, and this one is again unhinged and urgent, with intense synths exploding above shuffling, tightly knotted minimal drums and sweeping pads. it’s pure wtf music for brave djs and dancers and is a truly original production. then last original atles is rugged and impactful in the way in combines house and techno into new ideas. it is stripped back to little chopped loops that bury deep in your brain and have you in a trance in no time. as such, it rounds out a fine ep and keeps this exciting new label going off in great style.

stasis005 is another vinyl issue of elysia crampton s digital work, following stasis003, the bound adam 2011 7inch. it is the first pressing of the light that you gave me to see you, originally released under the name e+e. the arrangements were conceived between 2011 and 2012, and the l.p. was finally assembled in 2013, while the artist was homeless in los angeles, california. this edition also includes a previously unreleased bonus track, troll song, which originates from the same period. as with bound adam 2011, the art is by felix lee, and the master is by brandon hocura.

after putting the band on the map with their first ep two years ago, the band feathered sun has grown into a life of its own. the more live sets they have played, the better they have defined their style. they are spearheading a brand of sound healing music abstractly narrative, always poetic, sometimes flirting with darkness but always perfectly produced to carry the audience into their own world. feathered sun are the collaborative experiment of nu, jo.ke, raz ohara, chris schwarzwaelder, iannis ritter and acid pauli johannes laumer. each have active and flourishing solo artist careers, albeit still have time to collaborate with one another. the six-strong collective are a close-knit troupe who are primarily based in berlin and lima, peru. live improvisation is ultimately what brought the feathered sun project to life - they are open about their laidback, impromptu approach and this is apparent throughout this ep. side a was primarily crafted in peru by chris schwarzwaelder and jo.ke with raz ohara’s mesmerising vocals. the end material was then sent to nu in berlin who crafted two tracks out of it. the ‘bulbo’ ep shows a willingness to explore different approaches within the collective and the music showcases their long-standing affiliation. it is a downtempo ep that has immaculate instrumentation, dreamy pads and brooding vocals throughout. this is intertwined with organic sounds and moody atmospheric melodies, gives the release a timeless and emotive ambience.

after a five year absence the illusive cottam label returns. since the original series paul has travelled the world djing, released on labels such as aus & versatile and started his own imprint ruff draft for his own original productions and tracks from other producers. currently taking a break from djing & concentrating on production it felt like the right time to reactivate the label that started it all with some new under-the-counter specials. first up we have ‘mixing tool’, a heavy beat and percussion setting the dark & foreboding tone, the unease increasing like something is creeping up behind you until the distant war cries reveal themselves - a deep track that is much more than the title suggests. next up, the long awaited vinyl release for the cottam re-wiring of a classic film title track, mixing the best elements of the originals synth score with a club ready beat and acid that adds to the original - this is one of the finest carpenter reworks you ll hear.

sound carrier volume 8it’s back to the cosmos with the latest instalment in chris carrier’s always-on-point series, sound carrier. the label is a home for the prolific paris artist’s techno stylings, and no.8 in the series focuses on a galactical fight theme – taking us from terra firma up into the skies and beyond. the first track, ‘alien blaster pistol’, couldn’t be more self-explanatory. mysterious keys parade over an ominous bassline while the beats keep things moving neatly. gentle chimes and bleeps are added, initiating a dialogue between the various high frequencies located in the top end. next up is ‘mahem (magneto hydrodynamic explosive munition)’, which steps into familiar sound carrier territory, that is… slightly unhinged. rolling along at a steady pace, the tune is rough, yet light with shimmering effects and charming wobbly chunks of bass. on side b chris gets gnarly on us with ‘earth invasion’. it’s the beginning of the end, so of course the music has to match that frightening prospect. gruff beats and stomping bass collide with cymbals, crunchy snares and mutant acid licks to create a beast. finally, ‘haumea brigade’ takes us into the twilight zone again, whirring fx float above hard-hitting beats and a mean b-line. eerie pads help to maintain a chilling tone throughout. deadly, the soundtrack to the end of days here on earth... prepare to evacuate!

reissue of an eye for an eye by byrne & barnes: a true westcoast/aor masterpiece, produced in legendary music city muscle shoals (alabama) and originally only released on japanese label climax. in 1981, robert byrne followed up to his 1979 album, blame it on the night, by teaming-up with multi-instrumentalist brendan barnes to record this rare westcoast classic. if they never recorded any other music together, both display incredible music career and went on to produce for many famous artists such as pointer sisters, patti austin, earth wind & fire, phil collins, brian mcknight, or boyz ii men to name just a few.

goncalo salgado aka lake haze first came onto the scene in 2014, with a release on dj haus’s ­ unknown to the unknown imprint. since his impressive inception to the scene, lake haze’s sound has developed and evolved massively, so much so, that in 2015 he created an incredible offering for dutch label creme organisation, which featured a legowelt remix. the four track ep, features dark synthy productions on the a side, with more club friendly acid cuts on the flip. packaged in full sleeve artwork, limited press.

we are really proud and honored to present espectrum, a year-long effort to put together a compilation of the best dub techno. the idea was simple, but ambitious: ask some of our favorite artists for one track to epitomize dub techno—the style of music we’ve loved and continued to develop since our birth as producers and a label. with a very precise idea of what we wanted to collect, the compilation was carefully built with hypnotic, obscure, dense, and magical sounds with an eternal hook. these are the kind of tracks that will never lose their appeal, because they go above and beyond labels, styles, and trends, resisting the passage of time. after the first tracks starting coming in, the idea grew more and more special, and the concept even stronger. we knew we were onto something really big. and, finally, here it is.

answer code request picks up where he left off with his album (code, ostgut ton, 2014) and 12“ (calm down, mdr, 2015): with the neume ep the berghain resident offers three new tracks, meandering between restrained club contexts and brittle break beats, machinery and futurist soulfulness. the eponymous track “neume” starts off on a with shuffling rhythms atop a heavy kick, soon caught up by first surging then predominant drone motifs, flashing bleeps and piercing strobe sounds. “meta” on b1 clocks in instantly without any build-up: its rhythm section sets the tone with broken beats while acr slowly carves out more musical detail and textures: subtle command vocals from the machine room, swelling synth pads and other chilling, athmospheric means are subsequently being added until the track’s break where the emphasis shifts towards the kick, pads and synth melodies until the track’s sustained, smooth outro. “vis” on b2 is the ep’s most protruding track: classic uk garage shuffle rhythms and amen breaks are contrasted by a funky kick and dreamful pads, intertwined with additional sparse percusion, layered with what in the first instance sounds like chirping birds but then like sparking wires. answer code request continues what he does best: combining the warm human touch with chilled alienated aesthetics.

british producer reformed society is on a steadfast mission to dig deeper by going against the grain, standing up to the status quo and daring to do something different. a self proclaimed goal that is easily noticeable in his first release for “made of concrete”, wherein he reveals three original tracks and a remix by gathaspar, one of the label’s regulars. kicking things off with “high tension”, a high strung stripped back piece with an aerial feel, the artist builds up the entire mood of the ep from scratch. a clear-cut, steady groove whose versatility makes it relevant as an intro, outro or interlude. gathaspar’s rausch remix is a sub-bassy reinterpretation of the initial piece, filled with contorted whirs and whizzes that give the track a sub- aquatic feel. on “volgende halte”, the opening vocal sample shifts from a seemingly conventional soundbite to a recurringly haunting snippet that remains etched into the listener’s brain. rhythmical rolling pads galvanize the groove, making for an eerie yet relaxed overall vibe. movement inducing from the get go, final offering “orbiting jupiter” centers around wavering bass leads, while playing on a blend of spacious synths and timbered percussion patterns.

early pioneers of the german new wave music scene, din a testbild were formed in 1978 by mark eins and gudrun gut (former member of einstürzende neubauten, mania d. and malaria!). din a testbild played a significant role in defining the avant-garde music of berlin. legendary is their partecipation at the festival genialer dilletanten in 1981. mixed and produced by klaus schulze on his own record label innovative communication in 1980, programm 1 was a favourite in the playlists of the italian cosmic dj heroes daniele baldelli and dj mozart. this first vinyl repress celebrates the 35th anniversary of this classic electronic album.

on t you get fooled by the name of our 8th release! no up no down is the main title and the song itself is everything but linear. the organic percussion rhythms in combination with the warbling subbassline gets you into the groove from the first moment. the booming kicks and rough-hewn hats is lending a vibrant edge to the mix. a morphing ethereal guitar riff, filtered to the edge and the slightly insane giggeling vocal effects, carry you away in a chant-like hypnosis. nothing here feels like a static loop. it s a masterclass in restraint, tension built to breaking and then get resolved.

quite a few months have passed since adam port released his last original material on keinemusik. it’s been almost too long. but then again, every expert will confirm, you won’t see a “sonnenfinsternis” every other week. port’s new ep is going under the name of that very astronomical curiosity and accordingly, the like-titled cut on a can only be the result of a rare cosmic constellation. it starts with a spoken word field recording. could it be, someone secretly recorded parts of the internal pre-release labelmeeting? we’ll leave that to your imagination. but then, all solid facts. a forceful beat, decorated with hihat-hiss, stoically pounding synthbass, rattling snare-staccato and space-opening synth-layers. finally, some siren’s wailing, just in case someone didn’t get the immediacy of this material. classy floor substance, that is, with the scarcity value of an eclipse. “working for it”, as the first track on the flipside, is rather going for the deeper realms. this coproduction with jennifer touch, a singer/producer that just moved from leipzig to berlin, is built up on a cosy, warm synth-priming, that touch congenially contrasts with her undercooled wavy vocals. an emotional rollercoaster, if you will.

asher levitas is perhaps best known as part of old apparatus, the acclaimed and enigmatic london experimental outfit. over the last few years he has featured on releases for labels including deep medi, houndstooth and left blank as ‘saa’ with the singer linn carin dirdal.
‘lit harness’, his first solo album, started forming as a project in 2015 alongside the artist and writer michael crowe who worked on the live a/v show while asher created the music with vocalist marina elderton (from the ethereal psych band kull) who features on the tracks.

hot on the heels of kess kill s launch featuring cute heels, rivet proudly presents kess02 by xaõ seffcheque. while kess01 was in no way a compromise, it was still a very intentional symbiosis between the distilled essence of kess kill and contemporary electronic music. on kess02 we go straight to the core of the kess kill sound and aesthetic with three breathtaking songs by xaõ seffcheque. a contemporary of liaisons dangereuses and d.a.f., düsseldorf based artist xaõ produced some extremely singular music in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which makes for a very proud first reissue for kess kill. this is music so unparalleled that making comparisons is completely redundant. think jacked up post-punk with manic rhythmic tendencies and you’re halfway there. qu est-ce qu il fait chaud!

backyard captivates you from the very first second, a throbbing bassline sets the tone, entangled by a melody that manages to sound both warm and analogue as well as inapproachably cool and sexy, evoking memories of early eighties hip-hop and retro computer games while embodying progressiveness. guest singer david manning from the baalsaal / jeudi records camp, rounds up the whole affair by adding warm vocals about love in our emotionally cold times: stone cold love in the backyard.

british art-rock band no-man (tim bownes & stewen wilson w mick karn, richard barbieri, steve jansen, ben coleman) recorded heaven taste in the studio sessions in summer 1992. it got first released as a complete 21 mins version on painting paradise ep on one little indian (1993). the track drew attention in the rising ambient techno scene and got played by djs like mixmaster morris. the track fuses ambient techno with art rock and features a distinctive fretless bass solo by mick karn. this super sound 45rpm 12- features a steven wilson edited 11.21 mins version of the original and on b-side jimi tenor s rearrange with some solos with flute and keyboard. file under: ambient techno

ian pooley revisits his beloved 1998 lp meridian with 4 brand new remixes accompanying the much-demanded arrival of the original lp in digital formats for the first time. belfast house stars bicep apply their remix magic for the a1 cut, streamlining the pooley classic cold wait into a chunky uk house thumper which has already proven a winner in their sets, while white label boss oskar offermann delivers a subtle, grooving uk garage-inspired take on hit n run. the b side finds two alternate takes on whats your number by pooledmusic family member mathias show-b schober, whose remixes manifest themselves in a starry-eyed version that elevates the originals melancholic side, plus a stripped back beats n fx tool.

mixing abstract hip-hop and house, blutch s style is mind-blowing and striking, with touches of groove and heat. borrowing from pépé bradock, francis inferno orchestra,cuthead, andrés, shigeto and massive attack, blutch has forged a unique musical identity all along his career, always with this strong desire to combine several universes into a single entity.
in january 2015 blutch revealed his creative genius with his first ep, equilibrium. he will soon revisit a voluptuous set mixing trip hop, the softness of electronica and a hypnotic deephouse. requilibrium unites 9 artists in one project that represents blutch’ diverse musical spectre. friends, idols, people who we loved to collaborate with, spend time with, get to know better. the r stands for the remix, the reinterpretation of blutch’ ep equilibrium. each artist gives new life to one of the tracks, spicing them up to their liking. cuthead transforms « skyview » in a straight-up house floor killer while maxime dangles takes « chocolates & hamburgers » to gloomy, cold electronic heights. between these two extremes the music gradually and cleverly evolves track by track. melodiesinfonie opens up in complete serenity with his take on « a. » which takes us straight into summer with our feet in the sand. tito wun follows up perfectly with his version of “wildstar” that is stacked with groovy samples. next up is keroué, member of the band fixpensill. he puts his rhymes on a stellar edit by ywnwa. jenovah choses to take “deep diving” on a bass-driven path while pavane sees and raises that with an orchestral version of anyoma. it’s up to the brothers ark & pit spector to close out the ep by taking « elis » into deeper territory.

repress 2018... following on from isaac tichauer s street lessons release, the mysterious loft records calls in the talents of bicep, hackman, dorsia and lancelot for a choicest remix package. the french express signing turned many heads when he dropped his lauded devotion lp back in 2012, and since then the australian producer has risen to become a formidable name within modern day electronic music. therefore it s only fitting that an all-star cast were chosen to remix his latest release on loft records. bicep, who had an enormous 2015 with releases on aus and 50 weapons, begin the release with the only remix of higher level - a break infused cut fashioned for the dancefloor with a penetrating melody, echoing vocals and soaring pads. the first of three street lessons remixes then comes from hackman, known for his work on 20/20 vision and futureboogie, who incorporates serene synths and subtle stabs to transform the original into a quirky renovation with elements of funk. london duo dorsia then step up with a cacophony of sounds that build in suspense with the introduction of fuzzy atmospherics, until fellow australian and w&o street tracks artist lancelot generates a cavernous dub containing the originals infectious hook whilst implementing resounding rimshots and wobbly keys.

apoena get his tracks played by names such as delano smith, luke hess, agoria, baby ford, jus ed (etc...) since his first record out. known to bring groove into deepness, the brazilian producer may be showing his stronger record so far with “intense ep”. the a side provides prime driving stuff while b side take the mood to a more profound level.

trolldans once again opens its musical tome of fairy tales, this time featuring the gif-ted sound sculptor edanticonf. in his chapter of the trolldans volume, edanticonf presents us with the three crying fairies. it is a tale in four parts of desire and tears - as every good story should be. the first fairy tells us about a lake in the deep woods where a young princess called tuvstarr once lost her gold heart. no creature of the forest could convince the princess to let it go, and so she stayed there by the black lake until she turned into a beautiful flower. the second fairy tells us how the princess, before she lost her precious necklace, would ride like the wind through the forest on the back a grand elk. the princess loved the thrill and the elk loved the princess. vril steps in and actually lets us hear the noble elks heart racing from both the pace and his devotion to tuvstarr. the third fairy ends endanticonfs beautiful but melancholy tale with a glimmer of hope: by the darkest of lakes, the loveliest flo-wers grow. the end.

following last summers acclaim ruede hagelsteins long player apophenia, we once again revisit the album, this time with a few stunning remixes from the drifter, can be love synth, and ruede himself of the hugely popular footprints feat. c.a.r.. up first is the drifter and he turns out what may be his best remix to date with a swelling, emotional ride that will most definitely be an anthem for the coming summer. taking a different approach, yet just as engaging, ruede reworks his original into a dark, looping psychedelic odyssey perfect for late nights or early mornings. can love be synth rounds out the remixes with a gorgeous pop-esque twist on the original choosing to focus on live instrumentation and retro synthesis resulting in a cross-over favorite. and finally, for all the times you want the vibe without the vocal, a dub version of the original gem.
