this is the sound of the future four. led by andy meecham, the brains behind the emperor machine, bizarre inc and chicken lips amongst many others, and captures the excitement, diversity, strangeness and harmony of the uk underground sound of the early 90s. we are talking about the sparse dub mix on side 2 of the 12 inch single, machines making mistakes and changing the course of history, the dark side of the rave away from the neon and the white gloves, future four points the way to the dimly lit corner of the dancefloor and makes you move. after a recent discovery of boxes of old s950 and mpc60 floppy discs full of sound sets dating back to the early 90s, all three tracks have been produced solely on the mpc 3000 in staffordshire, and in perfect unison of north and south, mixed by erol alkan in london.

miles has been releasing material on modern love for a decade, first as one half of pendle coven, then on his own as mlz, and eventually pairing up with sean canty to record as demdike stare. in between he has also pursued more experimental terrain under the suum cuique moniker, produced jungle for the hate project and (together with andy stott) taken on the occasional release as millie & andrea for modern love sublabel daphne. he is also an admired, exhilarating dj, his sets have been known to span a broad spectrum of electronic music, from the obscure uk techno of labels like radioactive lamb and irdial, to classic chicago house, detroit techno and - most importantly - early 90s jungle and breakbeat, feeding into his love of the most uncompromising end of the italian experimental movement, musique concrète, synthwave and contemporary noise.

foolish felix dickinsons superb cynic label land a repress of this much sought after uk acid classic! this release is finally getting a very limited re-press. dusk till dawn is an old school acid house slammer reminiscent of tracks like mike dunns *let it be house* and armandos *151*. 808 drums and double 303 acid lines combined with pitched down vocals. played by everyone from larry heard to mark archer. liquid soul drops is a more modern weirdo slow-mo acid jam as championed by andy weatherall.

edux return from a winter hibernation and summer of partying with some more essential wax. machete savane is their latest signing, aka studio supremo saul richards & andy bainbridge, an integral part on well respected and notoriously raucous party people bad passion andy has perfectly distilled what drives the bad passion dancefloor in the excellent >elysian fields<, and who better to put a unique stamp on the track than their main resident guest felix dickinson. he takes the track into bolder, dubbed out and altogether more acid house territory, while keeping the live elements to the fore. finally mid op amps up the drum machinery, and lays out another corking balearic with balls workout. quality stuff as always.

nice price deal !!! redux return from a winter hibernation and summer of partying with some more essential wax. grand corporation is the latest alias of andy meecham (emperor machine/chicken lips) and stevie kotey (bearfunk/chicken lips), features the incredible vocals of deborah bell, and really cements the reputations of two of scenes finest producers. the grand corporation sound is inspired by the very best dance music from detroit/chicago/new york, resulting in some raw, sleazy and soulful early house vibes. there may be bit of a trend for reproducing classic house sounds at the moment, but these guys are seriously qualified to do it and unlike a lot of their peers capture the essence of what made this music so exciting in the first place. free comes in vocal and instrumental versions, and with a superb bonus acid dub in the do it proper remix.
