a deep, jacking monster, accentuated by soulful vocal flourishes and driving synth paranoia. it takes vision to make music that sounds both authentic and cutting-edge, and it takes real skill and talent to pull it off this well.

yore welcomes ibex to the yore family. tony ollivierra aka ibex, who is no stranger at all to the world of detroit house music, known for his outstanding releases on carl craigs >planet e< or his hot gems on 3rd ear and rushhour, returns in full effect on our 26th release. here he brings us four tracks, so deep (and yet grooving without a doubt), unique and full of class, that it still leaves us simply speechless. the music on this ep is so rich and full of musical ideaÆs, like we havent heard it since a very long time. one can tell you need history and expertise behind to drop something like this and ibex sure has what it takes. hes been releasing high quality house music since early 2000 and has been touring as a dj since the mid nineties, which all you can sense in his music. this is one of our personal favourite releases so far and we can only strongly recommend to get your copy while they last. killer ep not to be missed and already a classic today!
truth, undoubtedly new zealands greatest dubstep export, have been making a huge impact around the world with their heavy bassline riddims. truth have a style that defies categorization, encompassing an array of melodies, vocals and spacious beats that range from half-step stompers to the deeper profound realms of sound, all with one common element which underpins every track, a heavy bassline riddim that lays sheer force on any system heavy enough to handle it. the badboys of new zealand dubstep team up for their first single on argon records. bombay sapphire takes you on a trip through bass, while worlds apart flips the script for a jazzy dubstep experience. two incredible tunes, one essential argon single.
september signals a welcome return to the scene by two of d&b?s most respected characters, craggz & parallel, and it couldnt have come a moment too soon. since releasing their debut >northern soul< lp on valve back in 2006 the pair have stepped back, regrouped and are now ready to come full force with a brand new super-fresh sound that?s sure to raise heads throughout the scene. drawing on influences from electronic music past and present from early techno sounds, 80s synth-pop through to a myriad of contemporary dance music genres, craggz & parallel have created a truly unique and daring album sure to quench the most discerning and dance floor tastes whilst challenging the more traditional drum and bass album ideals. even reverting back to analogue production techniques to combine with the modern creates an experience unlike any other around today so keep you ears open for the genius new sounds of craggz & parallel.
engine music is delighted to present this next release from german wunder-trio, triad. comprised of henree with releases on soul:r and c.i.a under his belt, bastikal, headhoncho of the much respected phunkfiction label and l flow a classically trained musician and avid analogue synth collector. as triad they belong to the new breed of producers, reexamining the conventions and reinvigorating the experimentation in the dnb genre which has been lacking unitl late. two slices of mature, open minded dnb with spellbound on the a side. a subdued, bass heavy stepper with a naughty bassline switch up. fortune on the flip is a little half tempo number with dubbed out samples and a sultry bassline. or as we like to call it: a slow grinder. fans of the current autonomic sound should not sleep on this! dj support from goldie, teebee, calyx, lenzman and flight amongst others.
reyf (aka suedmilch) & eidner collaborate with some real musicans to discover the boarders of jazz, dub, house and techno and make their own smokey interpretations.
the something vinyl series continues this time with seductive house tunes and deep moments for the dancefloor and places beyond. five tracks and four bonus loops makes this the next typical warm vibrating something record, you have probably already expected. as the title suggests, its not a perfect clean and faultless production. there is the dirt and a sound inhabitant, for what stl records are well known for. experimentations in the worlds of hardware based tone generators and at the limits of analog signal processors. the tracks also deliberately dispense much static computer arrangements and were recorded mostly in live sessions to capture the actual feeling for each song. every being is a universe of its own, with all it s known and unknown places. there are mistakes and inner strangers which are made to learn and grow. this record is a recent snapshot from someones life, where the love for music and sound is maybe the most beautiful mystery!
freska belongs to the new generation of artist not bound to follow one genre. his releases therefore differ enormously. he states in his biography that he was influenced by music from black sabbath to kraftwerk, but this just implies the range of music and is not really to be grasped.
after 3 years of long and painfull waiting our firiend jichael mackson is now back on musique risquee with 2 new great songs that we are happy to present here with this new release entitled just in time . on the a side locus pocus is what you can call a hard edged hypnotic techno track: loopy, bleepy, trippy and squiddly diddly. the b side, entitled sugar hill mountain, is what you can call a deep, warm and moody ambiant song: shiny, airy, velvety and mushy gushy. check it yourselves. its really worth the listening as it was worth the waiting.
after the success of >slow burn< as well as the licensing of >dirt< to mr. ben klocks berghain mix compilation, echologist returns with another slice of psychedelic dub techno with remixes by frances techno king terence fixmer and arguably moscows finest producer, anton zap. the original mix is a slowly builds into a blaze of cavernous chord changes and a 4/4 groove powered by an unelenting sub bass. the distinctive sound of this track is what seperates echologist from all the other dub techno composers out there. terence fixmer takes the elements and transforms them into his signature techno workout that packs as much punch as it does finesse while anton zap strips things down and builds a super spacious hypnotic house groove that has become a trademark of his ethereal sound. all round another essential release from echologist.
phonica records limited offshoot returns with a second 12 inch from the man that kickstarted the label iori. the okinawan producer, whose >galaxy / urge< 12 inch won praise from across the board, has been working prolifically and this is only a brief glimpse of things to come. first up is >spatiotemporal< - a ten and a half techno odyssey towards the deeper echelons of the genre. starting off as a simple drum attern, >spatiotemporal< slowly but steadily builds up, with iori bringing layer after layer of synths proper mid-paced cosmic techno!! its definitely one of those tracks that need to be left to do their work preferably on a loud soundsystem! on the flip, weve secured the remix talents of one of the hottest names in techno at the moment. all the way from cold sweden, skudge have made quite a name for themselves in the last year, with solid releases on their own imprint. their remix of >grit< more than exceeded our expectations. its a masterpiece of stripped down techno that brings to the fore all the parts we like from the original, while taking it in a completely different direction. special artwork by pedro carvalho de almeida.
baseball and summertime. peanut butter and jelly. ross and rachel. these are all pairs of things that truly belong together. and finally, after years of waiting, legendary detroit hip hop producer nick speed has joined forces with the infamous techno collective, underground resistance, to release a vinyl titled >speed of sound.
while the combination of nick speed and ur seems like a natural fit, kids today may be shocked to find out that it wasnt until the last few years that the two forces combined powers.
australian producer philip mcgarva aka microworld is well known for his releases on transmat and styrax, both of which instantly became sought-after techno classics. dutch label adepth audio is proud to present microworlds new >time before techno< ep, with the title track another classic in the making.
microworlds signature is clearly evident throughout - the slow smooth build-up, with every new sound revealing extra dimensions within the music. definitely an after hours track that will go straight to your soul. the second track >ism< is a minimal but effective rhythm, a driving bassline, a catchy synthesizer and vocal sample that will stick in your head. canadian producer arthur oskan chose to remix >ism< and rebuild it into a pulsating 9 minute club track overflowing with warm synthesizers.
two new heavy bass riddims from the current hotbed of welsh production talent. both tracks have had radio one support from mary anne hobbes and gilles peterson as well as love from greenmoney, martyn, oneman, seiji, ben ufo and more. the release is number two in a five part series of coloured 10 inch vinyl, strictly limited to 350 copies each. all vinyl are coloured and numbered, with hand screen-printed sleeves. each vinyl order includes a download code for instant mp3 / flac / wav format.

already getting heavy rotation from the likes of hot city and mj cole, these four tracks span the spectrum of current uk club memes, from the 2step rhythms of title track >what makes you so special<, the slo-mo house of >face up to your sensibilities<, through to the todd edwards influenced of >prayin to t.e.<, and the moodier down-tempo sound of the closing >cakes, biscuits, and hows yer father<.

charlton ravenberg is the dutch artist who signs the 4th great m_rec ltds vinyl. in this ep he has 4 tracks where he shows his full potential. in tracks such as >basterd< and >slow down< creates trip slow and hypnotic. in tracks like >backwards< and >forwards< trips are a little more techno with detroit school influences. its a release that will sure know more about the label and the artist for its modernity and its substance. big!

for his third release on dont be afraid semtek brings a rolling acid house vibe with remixes from neville watson, justin harris and isa gt.
the original builds from trademark uk bleeps and analogue drums into a wigged out discoid groove. neville watson takes you far up into the aether with a hypnotic hymn to the night, justin harris produces a dark and driving techno dub, and isa gt refashions an early semtek track >key< into a bara house banger equally at home in croydon as in her native columbia.

>the voices< is the debut 12 inch from bobby and annie. drawing on their experiences as residents at the mint club, uk, the pair have crafted a versatile ep that sits as comfortably in a peak time set as it does on a hazy 6am dance floor. taken from a collection of vocal out-takes the voices have been cleverly obscured through various production techniques and layered around drums and old school analogue synth lines to unique effect. the results are two haunting, hypnotic, yet upbeat dj tools. the title track, >voices<, uses deftly interwoven vocal samples as the focus and driving hook. shuffled percussion takes a back seat amidst a discordant, attention-grabbing synth interlude that harks back to the playful garage sound of90s chicago house. the outcome is dramatic, intense and functional. on the b-side, >loose ends<, is a more rugged affair that gives the bass and drums centre stage. the vocals are pitched and trippily float in and out of the track whilst the familiar sound of fairlight stabs punctuate the groove. the effect is eerie, yet accessible, and rounds off this stunning ep.
literon returns! after his release on frantic flowers 2 years ago it has been silent ... until now! rawer house tracks with a dirty groove. old schoolish house beats combined with phat production and deep sub bass. perfect tracks for dark clubs with a blazin sound system.
