enduring and influential detroit techno act octave one are to release their fifth full length album, burn it down, in spring 2015. the 11 track opus is a collection of the unreleased music that has been lighting up their much talked about live shows for the last few years.

sheik �n� beik are a nyc based cohort specialising in promotion, production and outletting left­of­centre slices of electronic music. with previous releases from family members derek marin, voiski and peter corvaia their 4th release comes courtesy of danny wolfers (a.k.a legowelt) working alongside rush hour regular xosar under their xamiga alias. with this being xamiga�s 3rd release, the pair draw for their trusted arsenal of analogue gear and offer up the �bohemian grove� ep, a woozy brew of foggy textures, gently frazzled hats and detroit­indebted grooves. the title track kicks things off with glassy pads sat atop a long­tailed thud and a sandy shuffle. a distant bass groove wades in ahead of a passage of intricate, band­passed percussion and a circling synth line before �cumulus versie� sets sheets of ethereal vocals and synth strings gently ducking under a taught analogue pulse. �midwest� then sets hissing kicks and frayed hi­hats alongside a rasping bass tone. pitch­bent synth lines then bubble into focus before �blizzard� sets a dystopian tone from the off. a stout kick drum thunders under minor­key chord shifts and a menacing sequence that works to round off another fine addition to the sheik �n� beik series.

this is how it started focuses heavily on the early days of the chicago sound, especially in the formative years at ron hardy s music box.
following chicago s disco demolition night in 1979 the genre s popularity fell dramatically, hence fewer disco records being released.in this era chicago s djs such as hot mix 5, hardy, knuckles & jesse saunders played a variety of styles mixing in italo, electronic pop music, electro-funk and older disco joints often playing their own edits which focusing on the portions of the songs which always rocked the dancefloor. at the end of 1982, when dj frankie knuckles left the warehouse to open the power plant, ron hardy started to dj at the warehouse s new location until owner robert williams renamed it the music box. in 1984, a local label released a 12-inch single called -on and on- by locals jesse saunders & vince lawrence who had simple made the song in order to replace a record which had been stolen from saunders collection, the -on & on- bootleg disco megamix by mach. hence chicago house music was born and a modern day phenomenon followed.

this time hinode launch their satellite to neptune, the eighth and farthest planet in the solar system, in order to explore its dense atmosphere and raw uninhabited texture. guided by the roland rhythmical sound, the deep acid tracks wander around dark extraterrestrial dimensions and take their listeners to the bottomless depths of techno jams.

electronic emergencies is proud to introduce ceci n est pas, a synth wave project from new york consisting of nico nightingale, pierre klein and jorge socarras. nico nightingale is the man behind neud photo and earlier worked with pierre klein as neud. jorge socarras was singer with synth maestro patrick cowley in the 70s duo catholic, and with 80s cult band indoor life. together, they started ceci n est pas in 2014, and this 7 inch -the last time- is their first release. the title track on the a-side is an irrestisibly melancholic and romantic synth wave pop song, while b-side -the stranger- has a mysterious and yearning feel.

the second release on ftd is also the second release of lisbon based production trio niagara. although they havent released a record since *ouro oeste* dropped on príncipe back in 2013, their signature sound has travelled through many different guises. ftd002 charts such experimentations during this time, from the fall-over drunk guitars on *falcão*, to the wedding bells and released hounds on *mustor*.
