mit ihrer ersten vinyl-release >dirty ep< repräsentiert sich das kölner-musiklabel soundso records von zwei seiten durch die feinste rezeptur aus minimal, house und tech-house mit schreisalz, tom schön und steve haze.

a made up sound aka 2562 and dexter deliver two remixes for arttu featuring jerry the cat. nuclear funk and get up off it get transformed from raw chicago influenced cuts into darker electro/techno hybrids by these two dutch techno wizzards. both known for their sharp productions that cross over between techno, electro and bass music they have a fresh take on the original versions. by the choice of remixers we didnt expect the standard house remixes, something more challenging would fit the spirit of the originals. this remix 12 inch might be is somewhat of a dark horse in the house orientated clone royal oak catalogue, but expectations are to there be messed up.

andrea rango is back with a house track for sure impact. the underground sound is played with an intense and compelling groove that goes to touch, in their vision, atmospheres deep with remixes from reps and francesco pierguidi while someone else gives us a very minimal and cool version!

the 2 halves of zoovox, king ludd and night manager, split this 12 inch with 2 tracks each. beautiful neoteny is a fresh number with incredible synth work & is followed by the light-hearted bucket brigades. the sound of sound and squitty, meet squilly on the flip are true synth workouts!

we at eskimo recordings are proud to present you the first in a series of double a-side releases. casio social club (aka justin winks) is paying homage to the summer with nordic nights. its an upbeat disco track which is bound to get everyone on cloud nine. and on the dancefloor. kolombos cooperation with michael parker was already featured on aeroplanes inflight entertainment comp. this time hes collaborating with djuma soundsystem, who everyone will still remember from their intergalactic 2006 hit les djinns.with cherimoya, this danish-belgian cooperation seems to work out perfectly! double a-side boys & girls.

lcd soundsystem, esg, stephin merritt (the magnetic fields), peaches und debbie harry (blondie) - eine so illustre gästeliste kann wohl franz ferdinand vorweisen. die oben genannten künstler wurden vom schottischen quartett überredet, für die covers ep, welche bereits erschienen ist, ihre songs zu covern. die beeindruckenden ergebnisse reichen von postpunk bis hin zu krawall-elektro und sind äußerst hörenswert! jetzt setzen wir noch mal einen drauf. zwei der coverversionen wurden nun vom pariser trio dop und von brennan green geremixed und erscheinen jetzt auf dieser 12inch!

die letzte fsoj vol. 11 ist schon fünf jahre her, die erste kam 1995 raus. ich habe das gefühl die zeit dreht zurück. ein bischen erinnern mich die tracks - vor allem die langsamen stücke, wie so mancher sound - an die ersten >future sounds of jazz< compilations. ich kann sagen, ich hatte eine gewisse leerstelle von 2007 bis ende 2010, sah weder die notwendigkeit, noch hatte ich lust empfunden, eine neue fsoj zu machen. es gab seit 2007 schon den ein oder anderen tollen track, aber nicht genug, um gleich eine compilation daraus zu zimmern. zugegeben war ich, wie viele andere, mehr dem disco-, edit- und deep house-fieber verfallen. bin ich immer noch, aber die musik fusioniert wieder stärker mit den vibes, die ich für fsoj suchte.
es begann in 2010, festigte sich in 2011, ein déjà-vu ritt mich plötzlich, der viel beschworene zeitgeist wehte wieder. haufenweise gute tracks, interessante projekte, die von der Ästhetik, vom sound und feeling den frühen 90ern, oder meinem gutdünken ihre reminiszenzen aufwiesen. immerhin sind seit der vol. 1 schon zwei generationen nachgewachsen, sagt man doch, daß alle sieben jahre eine neue generation entsteht. ich denke, die jüngeren projekte (z.b.: lo tide aus australien, anchorsong und ragout delapin beides projekte aus japan, scrimshire, letherette, laszlo, sepalcure, eden) die hier vertreten sind, spiegeln das eindrücklich wieder.
