what do you call musicians like com truise? he seems easy enough to pin down—throw out some words like nostalgia, synth-wave, eighties, and electro-funk and you will scrape by—but to be truly insightful about his music is tough, because art that is so blatantly referencing certain things in a certain way while also making them weird and new and unique is confusing. how do you classify something that is so obviously both vintage and current but is too fun to call postmodern? awesome is an option. especially when it sounds like you are driving the knight rider car through thick clouds of nitrous oxide, like >fairlight<, the title track from truises new single, which previously appeared on an iso50 comp called dry waves and also has this jarring, falling-all-over-itself middle section that prevents you from trancing out too hard. >beta eyes<, the track that follows, is even more restless, with a drum pattern that is fidgety and clustered, kicks and snares fighting each other like two drum and bass heads arguing over an atari remote. >polyhurt<, a narcotic, almost ballad-like closer that inevitably leaves you thinking, >now, how the hell am i going to describe that to someone?< the vinyl exclusive cut >colorvision< could be truises most dancefloor friendly track yet.

aardvarck returns with his third full length album for eat concrete records. >anti concept< showcases a taste for deep ambient and minimalstic soundscapes, dub, detroit techno and bass heavy beats, mixed into a perfect flow. as the title suggests >anti concept< leaves aside musical genres and focuses on atmosphere rather than style. aardvarck carefully and patiently builds his own world of sound, adding layers and complexity with each track. these tracks bring mostly new material but also contain some of his earlier works on previous eat concrete and bloom releases, highlighting some personal favourites of his impressive output. enjoy!

for the first album ever being released on ki we invited biodub, a producer/dj from the north of germany, who impressed us with his fusion of dub, techno, electronica and is a musician throughout. bringing in his experience as the drummer of instrumental band noetics and based on a minimalistic foundation, his tracks are playful in a microscopically way. in between deep bass lines and characteristic dub chords, various sounds coming from field recording sessions and sometimes also acoustic instruments, making this piece of music extremely warm and alive. biodub tries to transform visual impressions into his music. he finds most of these impressions in nature but sometimes also in machines or buildings in connection with their environment. the album is equally comfortable on the dance floor as in the living room. but you would rather enjoy his music on an open field in the nature than on your couch. the album will be released as a full 2 x12 inch lp, and cd in folded hardcover with photography, graphic and layout coming from ki s amélie kai and since it leaves so much space for interpretation, there will be a 12 inch-single with remixes of stereociti and koi.

recorded in the winter/spring of 2009, first released in june 2009. at the time i called it my failed kompakt techno experiment, i started out with that minimal beat in mind but ended with something different. the title was the first thing i started with after watching some miss helen mirror on tv at the period, still love the title really. songs became longer and i discovered the delay while recording. this second record was the first one were i started settling on an sound of my own. some weeks after recording the screaming girls on the last track during their sunday afternoon youth group activity a baby fetus was found on their field with the mother being one of the girls

tearing through the streets again with wicked track after wicked track! pounding grooves dont stop! this heavy low end bomber is sprinkled with static dust which grunges it up nicely. then comes along valvestat who gives us a new taste of uk-style tech, mixxing heavy kicks and technical percussions with subtle black strings of death! huge! kataconda is back at it, this time treating us to a frenzy of static attacks. his droned out version of pounding grooves original leaves no room for improvement. finally, dijjs edit adds a funky bounce to the equation with cut-up alien vox and the skullsplitter! dont miss this one! asrx005 cannot be stopped!

nice price deal !!! second in the all-analogue cave paintings series where raw machine funk workouts are very much the order of the day. >2x< takes up where 1y left off and adds a sinister backwards-sweeping synth line to turn heads to jelly while the limbs carry on jacking to the syncopated percussion and insistent one-note bassline. >2y< is all but completely enveloped by a warm, deep, resonating bassline which is so wall-to-wall that it leaves plenty of room for the intricate, interlocking percussion to create a body-hypnotic groove. cave paintings - letting the machines decide.

this is one of the biggest releases on the label so far: juan pablo pfirter and alex bau team up for a smashing peaktime experience that leaves no space to take a breath. the modulating main synth-theme determines the character of both mixes and while juan stays very dry and powerful, direct sound, alex roughens it down to a dark technomonster as if there is no tomorrow. after release of pfirter on such highclass labels as clr, figure, stroboscopic artefacts and his very own mindtripmusic this is a stunniung debut on dmom.

third and final part of the massive longplayer.. fierce and dark techno weapons! berghain proof ! having built up several heavyweight releases on figure already, japanese techno magnate a. mochi stampedes onwards with primordial soup his powerful 9 track longplayer, initially split over three successive 12 records. this collection of simply overwhelming club weapons extends and expands upon some of the themes the producer already explored in his 3 previous eps for figure ringing, gyrating and pulsing with sheer technoid power is fastball, which will be included on the third part of the release. devilishly simple and yet mind-expanding all the same, this is a true underground weapon for true techno lovers. this only leaves the haunting lift-off signal of forced run, and the trance-inducing, reduced jam that is dark matter.

second release on jamie jones & lee fosss hot creations label is the first release by hot new talent robert james. a burgeoning producer, way ahead of his game who will soon be familiar for his insanely infectious music, not least for -sleep moods- his debut ep. -sleep moods- is the type of record that you never want to end. drilling into the mind with rattling bells, rolling bass and echoed calls of go deep… all night… no sleep. this is an unstoppable dancefloor gem, catching your attention from first listen and leaving you wanting more. as -sleep moods- breaks into its groove through haunting sirens and dark rave stabs that keep the energy levels stoked up, it leaves no doubt that robert james is an original and skilled new artist. on the flip -connected- is another explosive original, crackling with kickdrums and sharpened with supernatural synth stabs. in a similar vein to the sound of jamie jones, the hot creations label creator, you can see where these two producers have found common ground. completing the package, parisien house afficionado dyed soundorom takes on a remix of title track, -sleep moods-. producing a stripped back dubby version that works at any point of the night, a skill that dyed has become renowned for. dyed has been part of the freak n chic crew for many years and has also released on crosstown digital rebels, spectral, murmur and supplement facts.

kontra-musik continues its 10inch remix series. this turn is for ben klock and oni ayhun to get busy and rework tracks from the jason fines future thought album. ben klock now finalizes (may we call it the kontra-musik berghain sessions after shed and dettmann remixes) with a stomping, chicago-esque modern dancefloor cut. by adding vocals but keeping jasons original chords, there is some serious anthem warning to this one. on flip there is some magic! oni ayhun leaves us with a stunning and experimental tech electro kraut excursion. think yello magic orchestra jamming on beats provided by morris day and the time... wooow what a track!! another great piece in the carefully builded kontra musik catalogue! check

this man cant currently be stopped. following his releases through the 2nd season 2009 (>marvin” on compost, >smaul 06< & >smaul 07<) in january 2010 acid paulis >riverboat tour< came out. now, it seems he opens this years summer season with these two psychedelic thrilling tracks. even though he had been touring a lot with the notwist last year, acid pauli was pretty often an invited, musically refreshing guest in berlins minimal techno (what ever) scene. den mahlstrom rauf leaves no doubts about. great build up he does by keeping tension over five minutes to unlash finally the madness charge with a levitating reverse-ducking-compressed melody. den mahlstrom runter (a play on words of travelling on a boat and getting milled…) seems to be the return from the trip he gives on side a. it is the same track reworked. his musical drama goes faster but deeper under the cortex – but >how lucky a fate< deliverance comes at right time taking the track over to a known housy and deep realm.

as well 2010 aspekt dont allow oneself a break and so also this year, many brillant productions with interesting support acts are planned. after various successful releases, aspekt strikes back with number 13. süß sauer by microtune & takter, invites the listener to a never ending excursion of dreaming and dancing.they are known to tap the full possibilities, to reach minimalist the most. on side a their track süß enchanted by pushing tech-house, with a touch of deep and playful emotional melodies. dole&kom sweeten the whole thing, with their spirited remix once more. experimental tech-house, mixed with minimal accents, which animate to dance. since 2005 the guys have their own label death by disco and they are producing for labels like bondage, parquet and session deluxe. with sauer on side b, the listener can expect a nice minimal-house track by the duo, which leaves nothing to be desired. gregor sultanow gives it beans once more, with his remix. his permanent experimentation, which feature his style, you can hear clearly. great minimal-tech-house with playful melodic sounds with which you cant sit still. awesome record for the dancefloors!

the waiting is finally over! after all the ups and downs of the past year, we can happily report that joshua eustis now firmly intends to continue telefon tel aviv as a solo project. in order to mark his decision with a bang, thewonderful title track >immolate yourself< is being released as the second single from the current lp. the song has been entrusted to highly acclaimed and diverse remix artists who have skilfully stripped down the epic album track to more club-friendly formats.
the a side is delivered by label-mate thomas muller, whose finely detailed techno soundscapes can now be enjoyed on five bpc 12 inch releases. his >immolate< remix takes a much more direct approach. he reduces the lush arrangement of the original to a powerful basic framework, leaves out the vocals almost entirely, and creates a surprise when the track crumbles into sonic chaos towards the end.
miss fitz aka maayan nidam has had singles released on labels including raum musik and freak n chic, and these have been remixed by renowned artists such as ricardo villalobos. her version of >immolate< also makes a clear break from the album track and serves up her very own brand of abstract, dancefloor-friendly house. once again, all the opulence of the original is thrown overboard, a dry beat is placed at the centre of the arrangement and enriched with sinuous vocals.
ben klock needs no further introduction - he is the epitome of the bleak, hard minimal sound. his album >one< is currently available on ostgut ton, and as a remixer he has earned the highest acclaim for his version of depeche modes >peace<. bens >jack mix< is fittingly titled and lives up to all the expectations of the name. the track is stripped back to a resounding, hammer-like beat framework - minimised for maximum effect.
bpitch legend sascha funke delivers a surprise with another astoundingly reduced remix, at least by his standards. he turns away from the melodic richness of his current album >mango< in favour of repetitive fragments and an extended arc of tension which will surely make his >immolate< remix a massive after-hour hit.

sun dance is the debut full release by berlins rising sun, aka steffen laschinski. the ep features rising sun originals sun dance and candy in my pocket - two blissful tracks of old-style house-influenced minimalism infused with the heady atmosphere of early-90s innocence and joy - distant memories of simpler times - beach parties, bonfires, the sun rising over the sea at dawn… on the b-side, sven weisemann (mojuba, liebe*detail, a.r.t.less, styrax leaves) remixes sun dance, stretching it out into a beautiful shape-shifting epic. all tracks are mastered by masked techno maverick redshape (delsin, present, music man, styrax leaves). steffen laschinski is currently best known as the label boss of influential labels styrax records, styrax leaves and millions of moments. rising sun have previously featured on split artist releases on the workshop and ruin labels. b side plays inside out

>minimal is cool but in the long term a bit too unsexy!< this statement of marcel knopf that is by now quite old, shows his heart does not beat for one genre after all. after the first and more technoid single release from his album >dusty dance< monsieur knopf satisfies his longing for real house with single no.2 >crazy about<. r&b singer camaras soulful voice leaves quite an impression on this powerful beat. in >skinny bitches< marcel knopf processes insane nights: you just want to drink a beer in your favourite pub but then you meet a couple of friends and they take you to the worst disco in town. this high-energy track is uncompromising and must be played during peak time and not during warm-up sets or after-hours.
