well ok, no rule without exception... this beautiful joint from johannes albert is a little web 2.0 fairy-tail: the white rookie & cratedigga no. 1 moomin found a youtube clip of a dj hammering a super-deep, rough piano track in a club in the german city of paderborn. he didnt know the track, so he sent the dj a mail asking and a few mails later, the tracks from johannes were blowing away mr. offermanns ears. so the labelhead decided to make this the next white. of course first of all johannes & oskar had to meet a few times to make sure they understand each others vision well and after a few meetings they eventually became friends. so the labels movement towards the direction of house is continued by this release. wooden pearls is pure housemusic to the core. very wooden & grounded in the lower spectrum and crystal clear up in the sky. these very honest and timeless tracks tell us a story. the story of johannes alberts passion for house. since he was 15 years old, he is a fan. from the german franconia he follows house throu his local recordstore >swing king<

belfast bad boys, jet project, are running their city at the moment. their recent slew of tracks on labels such as viva, darkroom dubs, as well as our very own get digital with the scorching hot >zuma<, have been getting them attention with djs great and small. chugging right along in very tastefully form, the lads lend their services once again to get digital. however, this time it is an e.p. all for themselves and deservedly so with hauntingly epic >understand this<. understand this is a clinic of how to mold proper song structure into dance music form. all the key elements are there: a discernible intro, strong vocals with meaning, and a proper breakdown that utilizes a whole new group of sounds. writing tunes like these takes knowledge, effort, and passion. the dub version strips the male vocal hook away, but leaves the snippets and effects from it in there. allowing the track to ride on its full bass line and warped synth patterns..

first gimme! gimme! release featuring can t live without your love by tamiko jones and the super rare cosmic classic this man by phill & friends band. “can’t live without your love” was popularised by david mancuso s loft cd/lp. originally released in 1979, it’s considered a huge influence as an electronic-disco record and is a massive chicago favourite. this record has been heavily sought after for some time and played by larry levan, ron hardy, gene hunt, frankie knuckles, …… „this man“ was a huge track with dj baldelli at cosmic when it was released in 1980 and it has been top of many collectors wants lists for a long time. very rare and very expensive, this sleazy downtempo rock/dub disco cut really is one of those extraordinary once heard never forgotten tracks.

after releasing milestone eps between 2007 and 2008 on pheeks archipel imprint, immigrant and their home label, cynosure, the uruguayan duo monoblock completed a great 2009. inaugurating the spanish une label during the summer with their introduktion ep, monoblock also released intensiones, their third record on mike shannons cynosure. recent berlin implants, by way of valencia, monoblock start off 2010 right with a superbly executed whole artist ep on airdrop records. bringing together three tracks of very different moods, the shouting nonsense ep reflects the richness and diversity of electronic concepts covered by monoblock. going from the most rousing and bouncey tech house in shouting nonsense to the more stripped environment of cienpies and passing through the use of live instruments in calid.

the spaniard manuel fernandez llorente had a classical musical upbringing, studying at the music conservatorium in madrid. he has been composing and producing electronic music since 1996, not only releasing on his own label >7noise< but more importantly also being licensed for various major compilations. now he is releasing his first tracks on highgrade records. at first, >addiction< unspectacularly plods on towards house heaven, but then the sparse vocals and timeless organ sounds give you a warm and soft electro shock. the first track on the b side >the gull< shows off prompts talents as a composer. a very discreet melody blankets the straight beat, taking away the coldness of the bass. a beautiful dream track that should never really end. >mechanic< brings it home and is right in your face, a journey into minimal techno country, where you meet the sound ghosts that prompt has summoned. a single drum beat here, a voice there and a now and again a sound shred that are all meticulously arranged to make the perfect atmosphere.
