roughly translated, hasta el fin means >the very last number of the night<, appropriate when you consider this is gigolos final release of 2009. the a&r process at gigolo is a constant and very simple formula! if hell likes it, plays it and gets a good reaction from the crowd then it needs to come out on his record label! no other record fits the criteria more the >hasta el fin<. this is a record that featured heavily in hells festivals and club sets and was played at the end of every after-hour he found himself. but its beginning is a little less finite.
the genesis came late last year when oliver ton invited various musicians for a jamming session. in the spirit of some masterful moments in music oliver ton and production partner ronald christoph captured something unique sounding with a dance record built largely around a vocal, guitar and piano performance. it was immediately signed to berlin based white records and assigned the fitting cat. no. of white999!!!
hell, an early supporter of both the record and label was smitten, personally requesting the license for gigolo. once this was granted he approached tony lionni for a remix. for many djs, including hell, tony lionnis >found a place< is without doubt one of the biggest records of 2009. so combining the talents of these two artists would appear to be a no brainer, and the results speak volumes. taking the vocal hook, layering it over a tough piano stab and italo style disco rhythm is the order of the day. as we approach the end of another decade for gigolo and the first of new millennium we are proud to present our last number of the 2009!

our jazzy multi instrumentalist, dewalta a.k.a. david koch, returns to vakant with another popping fresh release, as earnestly house as house can get. since his first vakant release in 2008 (va021 salgaro/farina) davids music has taken him around the world in black largely covering our earths northern and southern hemispheres. side a is graced by move yo sitting as close to late 1990s baby ford as one can get without a time machine and personal guide to londons underground. david somehow owns this genre while still making it distinctly his. b1 night shade keeps the housey goose bumps going with a drier and more direct approach. cheeky bleeps and chunky bass balance dark spacey vocals to land the track somewhere between night and day. >angels trumpet< at the b2 position closes this stellar ep out with a track that again borrows from the genre, but continues way beyond its standards with melodic elements that push and pull you in multiple directions resulting in no less than dance floor catharsis.

conforce is the moniker of a 22 year old bloke from the island of terschelling in the netherlands. he is currently living in the city of leeuwarden where he works as an audiovisual designer. at the end of 2007 rush hour released his first 12 inch >our concern<, which got big support from people like josh wink, rolando, derrick may and laurent garnier. >junction< followed in 2008, with again raving feedback. to quote resident advisor: >quite simply he s a rising star<. now there are 4 amazing tracks from him on curle, hope you like em as much as we do!

aux-rec is being launched by airdrop records as an offshoot label designed with a specific mission in mind: to look back and pay tribute. aux-rec surveys musical history looking for those inspiring pieces of music (famous or forgotten) that carry a very distinctive groove and identity, and that offer the potential to be revisited in an ingenious contemporary way. at airdrop, we love music of all ages and of many genres! we feel aux-rec is a way for our artists and for us to pay our due respects to the origins and the evolution of contemporary dance music.
the existing airdrop roster of artists will be invited to contribute to aux-rec, but different artists will also be uncovered specifically for this project. off to a fresh start, franco cinelli and club rayo (a duo composed by rafael sorol and pablo terreil) engrave their long-time friendship on this record. franco cinellis first productions were released on the duos imprint club rayo disquets at the beginning of the millenium. the club rayo collective has been extremely active in the local argentinean scene for more than twelve years now.
going back to one of music historys greatest classics, >fever<, franco cinelli and club rayo bring their own interpretations to a theme that has known as many versions than people taking a sing at it in the shower! using ella fitzgeralds and elvis presleys voices, club rayo create repsectively the fitzgerald mix - a rocking dancefloor jam looping ellas fantastic voice bringing it to a culmination - and the king dub - a 118 bpm groove punctuated by elvis low-pitched and resonant tone. cuerdas is a short guitar instrumantal rendition of the fever theme. on his remix, franco cinelli creates a 10 minutes drum symphony, especially designed for the post-climatic hours. both producers kept in mind ellas famous quote when undertaking this great enterprise: >i stole everything i ever heard, but mostly i stole from the horns.<
the following releases on aux-rec will also be in the form of bootlegs, edits, re-works or samples (you name it). they will bring back memories to your heads and mostly the groove to your feet. to be true to its mission of a vintage exploration, aux-rec will be releasing exclusively on vinyl, in the tradition of the essential music format of the 20th century. there will be no digital releases at aux-rec. in the pipeline are soul claps edit of laid backs >bakerman< as well as le loups version of sheila es >a love bizarre<, produced by prince.

with the help of bodie lee and his nuboogie series project we managed to lay our hands on the master tapes of this early 80s disco hit by beggar & co. (and with hit we mean hit... like top 10 positions uk and us etc). we already got some raving reactions from people who use to love this big brit funk tune back in the days... and this might even sound better! nice remix challenge for greg wilson and elitechnique... both delivered the works! we could write a long story about the remixes and the remixers... but just choose your favorite. 2 sublime nu disco funk work outs!

it was only a short time ago when these 2 young up and comers made their respective debuts on our label and in the few months between then and now, they have gone on to skyrocket up through the ranks, conquering dancefloors, charts and dj crates-while becoming household names synonymous with quality and consistency.
florian kruse and nils nürnberg need very little introduction these days but for those that have been asleep or living under a rock, a good start would be to check their recent output on fine labels such as nrk, om, moodmusic, dessous and our very own dieb, to name a very select few. their first combined effort on the label has resulted in the >suerte ep<, a tight collection of deep as hell, tech infused house numbers heavily characterized by their attention to groove and addictive, seductive chord progressions that have become a hallmark of their production prowess.
to add some spice to an already sterling and stylized package, we have enlisted our good friend (and also mood music alumnus) alexander maier, to remix the titular >suerte< where he adds his considerable musical vocabulary to the proceedings, peppering a very tasty arrangement with piano chord stabs and throbbing basslines resulting in a gorgeous, summery house re-interpretation that has to be heard to be believed!
as if this werent enough, fresh from an impressive debut on nils and florians save room records we have been lucky enough to secure a percussion led, funk infused remix of >achieving balance< from bright new boys on the block io who round things off nicely and add another dimension to the >suerte ep<.

time for celebration! its been a long time since magnus international comitted anything to vinyl (kosmetisk/fp06 a good 3 years ago) with the exception of his remix for yrds afterski. undulat has been revealed in plenty of different disguises at previous full pupp nights but as magnus himself is too slow and lazy to wrap things up i gave it a good chopping here and there, voila! mandass morran blus is what it is, a beautiful piece of music... a taster of good things to come. on the b side we introduce new kid on the block, marius circus. friend and regular punter at our full pupp nights marius fights for musicians rights as a lawyer in gramo (no, google it fool...), djs around bars in oslo at night while slowly honing his production skills.

high on the heels of their brand new album >24/7< gus gus serve us the second single outtake. >thin ice< is undeniably the key song on the album and therfore screamed for being revisited for dancefloor purposes. the a-side belongs entirely to the hamburg based trio wareika, which is not only sharing the tourbus as support act with our icelandic heroes on their extensive >tanz mit mir< tour but also raised some eyebrows with excellent releases onlabels like tartelet, connaisseur, liebe/detail or eskimo. their take on >thin ice< is a wonderful, epic journey into contemporary deephouse - approaching the original from its intimate, emotional side before taking a total different turn in the last third of the track. we have no clue where this angelic voice transcended from but for sure it gives us gigantic goosebumps. on the flip, matteo esse and sant aka analog people in a digital world deliver proof that their brilliant remake of st germain, >rose rouge< was not just a one-hit-wonder. it was and still is hammered by the top league djs like pete tong, luciano, michael mayer and many more. they know exactly which buttons to push in order to make this worlds dancefloors happy.

absolutely massive dop rework! will and tam went back to their roots and dusted off the sampler for >teddy s back<. strings and vocal cuts bring the soul and their trusty 101 delivers the bass line. as with many of their previous tracks together all the percussion is recorded in live - >because it sounds better and is fun to do<. they set out to achieve something that was heavy, rolling and organic yet with memorable moments that doesnt disappear into a never ending ableton conga loop... the original is already a firm favorite with the wolf + lamb crew and gilbr from chateau flight has also been supporting it for many months from an early version. our parisian friends dop deliver the goods on a major level with their remix. a truly filthy yet undeniably infectious song penned after a recent gig at the infamous berghain is backed by a surefire rhythm track and arrangement that is designed to move bodies. in wills words >not one i ll be playing to my mum<. just how we like it!

foog is a new project of japanese veteran house music producer yukihiro fukutomi. yukihiro released the new single on mule musiq (cover of marshall jeffersons >open our eyes<!) under the own name few month ago, it was played by michael mayer, cassy. foog have already released two album in japan (only) and some of the track have been supported by carl craig, loco dice and name a few. this foog new single is a first single cut from the upcoming new album which will be released in feb or march 2010. a side >nino< is a dark experimental deep house. b side >manya< is a hi-tec detroit techno style!

its been almost a year since the release of efdemins fantastic two-tracker >america/the pulse<. >america<, that was also used on his curle mix-cd >carry on...<, became quite a big tune and even ended up on the number one spot in groove magazines chart. therefor efdemin preferred that no-one touched that track anymore, and we decided to give >the pulse< a remix treatment. john beltran is a highly respected artist that has been around since the early nineties - r&s! peacefrog! styrax! - and when we heard the ultra-funky mega-bomb he made from >the pulse<, we knew we made the right decision to ask him. another one of our long time favourites from accross the ocean is convextion aka e.r.p. he did some ground-breaking stuff on matrix, down low and frantic flowers. we asked him to do a remix of crcs amazing take on detroit techno, >vaskitsaherra<, originally on curle 009. the result ended up being nothing else than a timeless piece of art.

do you know gummihz? the gummihz that hails from greece but was raised on a steady diet of chicago and new york house? the gummihz that sings? the gummihz that incorporates disco, electro, jazz, and chanson into his productions? well if you don t, now you will. the >sleepless nights< double 12 inch is gummihz first release on mobilee since >under the sun< and is a radical departure from anything we ve ever heard from gummihz ù or even mobilee ù before. gummihz multidimensional production abilities allow him to dig deep into his roots and influences on the one hand while simultaneously exploring new, uncharted territory on the other. alternatingly retro and futuristic, this two-part ep series is a portrait of gummihz as an artist from a variety of angles, one we ve only seen fragments of up until now. one might view this ep as an attempt on gummihz behalf to explore his musical roots in a contemporary context, with the end result being a strikingly varied yet cohesive statement of gummihz musical and artistic leanings. on the one hand, gummihz delves into his past, with tracks such as >sunshine dub< and >bang< fusing the samples, cut-offs, and filtered loops of french house with an almost balearic, hypnotic twist. on the flip-side, we also get a snapshot of gummihz at his most somber ù>love call<, featuring vocals from gummihz himself, has a jackin house beat but bears no resemblance to the cheery sounds of chicago house on which our grecian friend was raised. instead, he favors a cloudy, almost cold-blooded vibe, with chilling lyrics manipulated to the point of near-indecipherability (bringing to mind the brilliant vocal work of the knife and fever ray) with a final product that is nonetheless aptly suited for the dance floor.

do you know gummihz? the gummihz that hails from greece but was raised on a steady diet of chicago and new york house? the gummihz that sings? the gummihz that incorporates disco, electro, jazz, and chanson into his productions? well if you don t, now you will. the >sleepless nights< double 12 inch is gummihz first release on mobilee since >under the sun< and is a radical departure from anything we ve ever heard from gummihz ù or even mobilee ù before. gummihz multidimensional production abilities allow him to dig deep into his roots and influences on the one hand while simultaneously exploring new, uncharted territory on the other. alternatingly retro and futuristic, this two-part ep series is a portrait of gummihz as an artist from a variety of angles, one we ve only seen fragments of up until now. one might view this ep as an attempt on gummihz behalf to explore his musical roots in a contemporary context, with the end result being a strikingly varied yet cohesive statement of gummihz musical and artistic leanings. on the one hand, gummihz delves into his past, with tracks such as >sunshine dub< and >bang< fusing the samples, cut-offs, and filtered loops of french house with an almost balearic, hypnotic twist. on the flip-side, we also get a snapshot of gummihz at his most somber ù >love call<, featuring vocals from gummihz himself, has a jackin house beat but bears no resemblance to the cheery sounds of chicago house on which our grecian friend was raised. instead, he favors a cloudy, almost cold-blooded vibe, with chilling lyrics manipulated to the point of near-indecipherability (bringing to mind the brilliant vocal work of the knife and fever ray) with a final product that is nonetheless aptly suited for the dance floor.

next month we celebrate our 5th anniversary here at dirt crew and we are very pleased to have marc romboy - whos systematic imprint also turned 5 this year - team up with smokin jo to deliver this marvellous two tracker. >what is this?< is a strong tech-house gem, slowly building, pumping groove and with a great sax sample. very recognisable and been doing a really good job on the dancefloors in our sets over the last few months. solid stuff ! as a b-side there is a much deeper and musically more diverse lee jones remix, lee has been one of our favourite producers in the last years with his solo work on labels like aus, liebe * detail and especially his my my project on playhouse, we are very pleased to have him on our label for the very first time with this excellent re-interpretation of >what is this?<

for the second release on ki records we invited a very special and talented artist from japan to join our label. daisuke tanabe, who studied art in tokyo and london, has been producing music for the last 13 years. various releases on zero dbs fluid ounce label and an impressive amount of remixes for gilles peterson’s brownswood imprint have proven daisuke tanabes versatility and talent for modern experimental electronic music. as a live act and dj, he performed with gilles peterson, onra, tim exile, hudson mohawke and clark. we decided to dare a leap into a more experimental way by publishing his outstanding flowers on a wall. the four-track ep will be released in august 2009 (500 copies ww on limited vinyl), simultaneously to his first album on japans circulation records.
