we have never done a project like this before where the artists choose all the remixers themselves. but for the crazy italoboyz album >bla bla bla< we found ourselves not really knowing what to do. so instead of forcing our own ideas for remixers we went back to the source and let the artists run wild on the a&r. marco and fede commissioned all the remixers themselves. the producers they chose are a very diverse bunch and the vinyl 12inch takes a sampling of the best material from two very big underground names. on the a-side das kraus duo turn it a super jackin yet also very haunting rendition of >oh mio dio.< it sounds like pitched up chicago house meets demon days. on the b-side old school master dandy jack turns in one of the oddest records ever on mothership with some unusual sound design, voices and semi-dischordant note runs. super weird for the super weird! whatever you think of this odd lot no one can deny these remixes definitely carry the indistinguishable mark of that ever so quirky duo, the italoboyz

for our fourth release we decided to take one of our favourite tracks from the discos de lata catalogue and give it to some friends to remix it. the tracks is sour mood by xpansul and damian schwartz.on side a, the capo of the new sond from chicago, billy dalessandro adds all that funk he has, with that remarkable chicago flavour and a subtle touch of acid. a solid track that keeps the hypnotic vibe of the original adding a tension that takes it to peak time territory. on side b, spanish techno master, alex under, joins forces with super talented argentinean producer leo gruenbaum, aka gruenbox, to deliver a piece of strong funky techno. the deep bass and groovy percussions are the foundations for a progression of hypnotic elements that make this a track a sure killer. we love techno!

for our 19th release we welcome genius duo arado & den ishu, two local heroes from the heart of germany s ruhr valley.

this release presents us three luscious tracks from our meandering-funk supergroup pikaya. it s their second record for the meander imprint and it s pretty a remarkable one. after their last output with the name jive and a recent split release for grubenstrasse zuerich, now they strongly back with crafty signals & grooves, luscious melodies, warm but clear rhythmic beats finalised with a solid dash of acid.

for the second time, kadebostan opens up an oriental sound bazaar on fenou with the souk e.p. and feeds us with musical delicacies. on side a he charms us with a virtuous sounding clarinet like a snake charmer decoys the hissing reptiles from a basket. our hips are swaying softly and smoothly under this hypnosis to a beating rhythm and repeating bass lines. on the flip he reveals the veil and involves us in a world of foreign sounding magical music. it is a miraculous mixture of charming vocals, gently, but firmly beginning rhythm and oriental guitar and piano scales. what remains is a moment of magic.

belfast bad boys, jet project, are running their city at the moment. their recent slew of tracks on labels such as viva, darkroom dubs, as well as our very own get digital with the scorching hot >zuma<, have been getting them attention with djs great and small. chugging right along in very tastefully form, the lads lend their services once again to get digital. however, this time it is an e.p. all for themselves and deservedly so with hauntingly epic >understand this<. understand this is a clinic of how to mold proper song structure into dance music form. all the key elements are there: a discernible intro, strong vocals with meaning, and a proper breakdown that utilizes a whole new group of sounds. writing tunes like these takes knowledge, effort, and passion. the dub version strips the male vocal hook away, but leaves the snippets and effects from it in there. allowing the track to ride on its full bass line and warped synth patterns..

we are happy to present our first japanese artist on quintessentials, ryo murakami. ryo is no stranger to the scene, as he already released a bunch of records on respected labels like dessous, pokerflat or soon on mule musique. the main track >lunch of god< is a deep, raw and reduced house track with a strong us flavour and was already featured in jus eds underground quality radio show. ryo takes it even further with reducing - the result is >depths, a basic kickin techno track. the flipside offers the more than 11 minutes long >lunch of god< remix by house master scott ferguson. the ferris park maestro keeps things close to the original but adds more club feel plus a superb lil bonus track of his own. check it out!

sometime around 1999 swayzak released a 50 copies only white label of tracks >easy< and >hof ter lo< as a taster of their 2000 album >himawari< sadly neither of these tracks made the album in the end, but are now remixed and re-edited by rennie foster and shane berry (dirty works, japan) the originals are brought back to life, and given a twist in a new direction. ten years on we plough through our archives and have a new feeling for these old tunes.
