derrick carters seminal sound patrol album originally released in 1994, * sweetened - no lemon*, will see a re-release in january 2016. the alias provided a place for carter to explore deeper and sometimes more atmospheric styles. the sound patrol record originally came out via chicagos organico label, while derrick carters own arts & labour is handling the reissue. the triple vinyl re issue adds four new unreleased tracks. the whole album has been re mastered for 2016. this follows a limited edition sampler 12 inch released in 2015 which contained another 2 unreleased tracks.

the fourth instalment from the lauren bacall sees an eclectic various artists four tracker come to fruition, more premium deep house jams featuring lbc s trademark woozing pads and downcast melodic refrains. stocky drum programming pounds away below gloomy synths and chunky bass, all conceived on grey days and brought to life at sunrise.

alr001 is tech-house based track features one late-night club cut of pure, padded brilliance. the original mix is a meditative, as it blissfully sways between softly thumping bass and euphoric synth snippets. hamburg based well known dj cess (formally from also known from cocoon booking) re-edited the track for dj s with a male spoken monologue that, despite being a tad pretentious, actually kind of weirdly works. fittingly, its the most dance floor appropriate of the bunch and would slip nicely into a bleary-eyed, 6am sunrise set.

release number three for pleasure unit is an in house affair, a rare collaboration on some original material from two of the keyboard mashers. early feedback on les crocodiles has been great and we are currently waiting on a remix from one of our fav scandi producers who offered a mix on hearing a rough draft. three mixes in all le club, acid dub and tropique ambi sunrise.

on the first side side we got the title track kings & queens, featuring carlo and the unique voice of the singer / songwriter gjaezon. trippy chords combined with whirling hi-hats give that track a special melancholic, dark and warm feeling. perel transformed the second track speakerbox straight into a club banger - jacking grooves and cut up vocals by gjae, thats how we like it. and now sit back and relax while ranko serves you his cocktail of slow-motion funk and dubby grooves in his clarapark remix. on the flip side oliver gehrmann starts with his version of speakerbox: a floating and melodic sunrise hymn, including such a rolling bassline that your feet will do all the work for you. odysea take you back to the golden age of house music, therefor the boys created a soulful remix with majestic strings that give you nothing but goose bumps.

what better way to follow up andy meechams (chicken lips / emperor machine) huge gino fontaine originals than a duo of remixes from balearic chieftains pete herbert & stratus as one half of reverso 68 alongside phil mison, and in his own right pete has been behind a ton of mesmerising sunrise and sunset workouts, and he�s more than delivered here - crisp and club ready percussion, those stark punk-funkin� guitars and his trademark synth work all conspire to cook up a storm on the floor martin jenkins and mat anthonys stratus outfit (remember their superb *spring tide ep* on aficionado last year ?) take a pop at the sublime konkondo on the flip and what a masterpiece it is ! a ten minute, utterly absorbing and expertly evolving piece, which flips the darker elements of the original into a mesmerising, cinematic, early 90s style balearic epic.

one per customer! edwards 2nd album -into a better future- accompanies you for hours, makes you forget that daily grind. it is serious encouragement of movement, telling you to get away from the thick mess and find your way onto a proper highway. you will pass machines along the side of the road, engaged in a process of construction while your hands feel clean. and once in a while you ll hear the sound of sunrise and sunset racing each other in a tight rhythm.

steve frisco, of serie limitee fame, brings us the latest bundle of hot tracks to hit wax classic in 2014. as the title suggests, steve takes us on a journey through low fidelity sounds and production techniques. think dark, moody, yet crunchy basement house tracks with inspiration taken from all over the u.s and the rest of the house world. it�s a generous offering as well. six whole dusty tunes for those diggers who are looking for something with a bit more range than another record of generic piano laden, house-by-numbers pieces that still seem to be flooding the record store shelves in 2014. the moods do vary from track to track, but they remain very reflective and almost melancholic at points. the title track, �adventure in lo-fi�, is the deepest of the lot with filtered chords, echoing claps and a sporadic kick pattern that often clears way for the track�s bass hits. now, compare that to �da brooklyn beat�. whilst the former had a distinct sunrise/sunset kind of feel to it, the latter is definitely more of a club affair. skippy snare hits and a strong organ lead the track on, and at the risk of utilizing very overused buzzwords such as �raw� and �ruff�, this track, and the rest of the a-side for that matter, certainly captures that essence. stalwart wax classic fans will no doubt be picking this one up to add to their collection. however, i strongly recommend this ep as a jumping in point to the label for any newcomers out there

after last years second part, the third contribution of the >vinyl only edits< series is curating a wonderful showcase of the diverse artists on bpitch control. besides joy wellboy, furfriend, snuff crew and cesare vs. disorder & dave vega put hands on their own tracks again.
