kyodai have had a strong run of releases since their debut here on freerange last year. their mi rumba ep must have impressed a lot of people as they went on to release a follow up ep for mad mats blossoming local talk label and also have an ep due on pokerflat in the coming weeks. kerri chandler dug it enough to include on his ra podcast and it was also picked up for the cielo compilation on nervous. la luz kicks off this release with a brazilian rhythm known as candomblé laying the foundation of the groove.

as emotional rescue continues to deliver the goods for those who love discofied rarities from the 70s and 80s, here comes this ep from kevin harrison, originally released in 1982 and worth a pretty penny second hand. it is a wistful, proggy kind of groove that finds harrisons voice lost in an alien phaser while the live band feel gels with synthesiser parts for a fluid kind of cosmic goodness. there is simply no arguing with the plush melodic wonderment of >views of the rhine<, while >fly< is the jam the party djs will reach for, not least for its slinky bassline. amazing.

bastard jazz is proud to present the debut ep from brussels based production duo eric p & luigi aka monkeyrobot. coming to light through their work as 74 miles away (melting pot music) and tall black guy, who selected their standout >basement infusion< track to be on his tempo dreams compilation album (released in june on bastard jazz), and alliance between the label and m.r. seemed natural.
here on their self titled 12 inch, monkeyrobot deliver four diverse tracks that showcase their skills behind the boards, the keys, with a keen ear for the dancefloor. kicking things off, >brick stomach< is a synth-heavy four-to-the-floor 120 bpm joint that comes off like a floating points visit back in time to 1980s detroit with its rolling snares, arpeggiating synth bassline and cloudy pads. next up, >northern light< filters shimmering space disco vibes through big, thumping instrumental hip-hop drums and moody analog bass. on the flip, >rose gris< takes things in a funkier direction at 100bpm with its syncopated drums, irresistible lead, squelching bassline and all manner of synthesizer explorations. rounding off the ep is >last days<, which still manages to inject a funky 80s analog sound into its melancholy downtempo vibes.

this is sadly the last in the holger czukay remix series from claremont 56. limited to 555 with 277 pressed on orange vinyl and 278 on yellow. the first recordings of perfect world were made in the inner space studio in weilerswist (1984) together with can members jaki liebezeit and michael karoli joined by sheldon ancel. here is the new remix version by the man himself and on the b side we have the version of photosong recorded live at the roundhouse and the original version of hit hit flop flop.

here we go with the next release on frank mullers mad musician from the techno headquarter berlin. some might know this track from franks live performance as beroshima. ken ishii heard this track in japan and offered to do a remix. we dont have to explain ken ishii and his nice releases. he has been on the scene for almost two decades and has influenced the japanese techno scene like no other. two other mixes are done by frank muller himself. his alter ego beroshima mix is is pure techno spirit and simply rocks the shit out of your lazy bones. brand new and good for you!

with the back catalogue burned to cinders and the last few dog eared copies at freerange hq looking more than a little shabby, heres your opportunity to grab some of the labels highlights on the blackstuff. the complete boxsets have all gone now but you can still buy the box with part one and add the individual releases. here we have part two including bassforts dixtritt (never previously available on vinyl), axel bomans remix of lovebirds (also, for the first time on vinyl) and charles websters classic deep house reworking of subjekts come on.

so you didnt get that last firecracker that came in an incredible sleeve and was limited to 45 copies? well now you and the other 99% of humanity can at least own the music contained within it with this regular re-release, and to be honest although the sleeve isnt hand-weaved by a peruvian tribe centuries known for their mastery of textile craft, the one yer getting here is pretty goddamn sweet. bringing together calypso rhythms and bernie worrell-does-acid lines, fudge fingas >untytled< is an exemplary example of why everyone is in admiration of the geezer, and that is because he can actually make actual music, with compositions and melody and all that. excuse the lofty jargon. linkwood bring equal heat in the form of >secret value<, but guess what? fudge fingas has gone and blessed it with the refreshing audio equivalent of yer girlfriends mint & tea tree shower gel, adding liquid bass and lush keys. the fingas finishes off the e.p with one of his most interesting tracks to date >minus 616<, a dense, immersive piano piece that proves that getting this e.p out to a wider audience was just simply a righteous and necessary move. take that skinny tie off, wrap it round yer arm and mainline that uncut funk, baby.

for the first solo ep on horror boogie, fedka the irritant steps up, after his outstanding track on horror boogie 01. fedka the irritant is probably best known as the trombonist in the excellent band pest (ninja tune), alongside ben pest (panic bridge, victim, bonus round). he is also a seriously original and versatile producer in his own right. he has released on panic bridge, alongside the other pest members and his trombone techno live sets are something to behold. here, he drops four varied tracks, starting with the behemoth >words for friends<. a heavy slice of wonky techno, with a big kick and rasping synth. next up is one uncertain eyebrow. a building, funky, fuzzy acid-laced track that drops harder and harder as it goes on. on side b, calypso-flavoured, jazzed up >stick it< progresses on to a become a warbling bass effort with a smooth hip-hop vocal. last but not least, is >you only die once<, another funk-laden monster, with a killer slap bass line.

as the motech label moves into a new decade, dj 3000 and friends - in this case, dapayk solo, mr o and t. linder - unite to present this varied ep featuring four exclusive and previously unreleased tracks.

the seven tracks on this lp or the eight on the mixed cd (including two bonus tracks) owe as much to the traditional methods of house or techno and extraterrestrial disco (i shipped around the s-word here) as they disregard it and they are as characteristic to thomas studio space (i used thes-word here) and his sound aesthetics as they are to his infinite will to surprise

jolly mayhem, this one is sure to rock the floor & is already getting major support from some serious heads! the flipside is a more mid tempo house affair but is equally as devastating. richard from milwaukee takes on better off, a stomping disco groove which escalates into full-on crowd control.its all about the classics here, with richards trademark chunky percussions & synths galore. did we mention the bassline? kick back to this one. dj kaos jolly jams imprint delivers again!

with what might turn out to be one of the biggest tracks of the year, the massive what i might do by ben pearce is here. solomun, seth troxler, david august and jamie jones are all already on board with championing this slick combination of raspy soulful vocals and irresistible grooving deep house
