midgar is finally reaching the 10th release with mdg008, a rich ensemble of live jams, adapted to the vinyl format by ambient specialist shaded explorer. the record opens with the bleeping saucer emerald weapon, activating hyperspace mode as the sidereal ambiances take over in the middle of the track. skyward follows up with thunderous kicks, adding consistency to the groove but keeping focus on windy atmospheres. the slow-builder shaded gems reset the pace on the b-side, where the italian artist fully express the solemnity of the machines. underwood ends the record with natural textures: a sonic representation of mother nature waking up the forests using bright pads and perpetual chirping.

decoder recordings is back with its second release. swedish dj and producer mattias fridell delivers strong driving techno on the ep called the tasker. it contains four tracks, and the title track immediately discloses what s the deal with this ep: quality loop based techno with fridell s signature clearly present. current world ecclesiarchy is the second track and on the same level as the tasker, while 33 endocytosis is a bit more funky. a pounding remix of that last track is delivered by the binary mind.

folie a deux is releasing their first vinyl ep on hamburg based home label tach & nacht! this stunning 4 track ep consists out of 2 original tracks and 2 strong remixes from andrea ljekaj and malbetrieb. the journey starts with “pulse”, a track full of ambient sounds and dark beats sounding like the night. continuing with“axon”, a deep story containing a wide range of emotions, which are expressed by complex and dark melodies. on the b side we come across andrea ljekaj’s “pulse remix” which takes you on an intense groove with wide strings representing sun rays breaking through pulse’s dark night. in the end maltrieb does the job by ending the journey with a perfectly balanced track. bringing the atmosphere back to a positive and chill vibe. each track is a different chapter of a story called pulse ep by folie a deux.

undoubtedly a prolific artist at various points in his career, arjen schat revives his ohrwert alias for its first ep in three years with the first release for local traffic. the dubby tendencies of this particular project shine through in abundance on -tornus- with its voluminous reverbs and shimmering delays, all guided by a steady-ticking set of drums. throughout the ep the production values are impeccable, perhaps shining through the most on the blissful closer -weallian- which layers up melancholic synth tones into a beautiful configuration and rounding it out with an instinctive bassline for a heart-melting end result.
