poolside began as a recording project in a converted los angeles backyard pool house in early 2011, producing sunny tracks of subaquatic indie dance music in this makeshift recording studio. surfacing first in the form of a youtube video for the catchy track Òdo you believe?Ó poolside were soon gaining local and national attention, with djs like james murphy of lcd soundsystem, techno legend derrick may, and disco don todd terje spinning these tracks at events and a growing online following. throughout 2011 poolside continued making waves with a sound called Òdaytime discoÓ through tracks like their cover of neil youngÕs Òharvest moonÓ and original tunes. in 2012 poolside worked on a remix for longtime disco punks the rapture and held fans over with a new single and video for a song called Òslow downÓ as they prepared to release their debut album. that album, pacific standard time, was self-released in july of 2012. after the albumÕs release, remixes for artists like matthew dear, little dragon and foolÕs gold soon followed, as well as rehearsing and touring with a live band and doing dj sets around the world. as thoughts turned to a second album, poolside went on ice for a year to regroup, beginning to work in earnest on another album in the fall of 2016. while still revolving around the sunny, laid-back disco sound of pst, these sessions yielded the additions of up-tempo dance songs and more guitars, and generally more fleshed-out arrangements. poolside surprise released their second album heat in 2017. poolside have over 1.5 million monthly listeners on spotify and have fans all over the world. they are currently on tour as a live band.

wrwtfww records is over the moon to announce the official reissue of legendary album ki-motion by japanese percussionist midori takadas mkwaju ensemble, sourced from the original masters and available in two versions: a vinyl lp cut at emil berliner studios and housed in 350g old stoughton tip-on sleeve, and a digipak cd. a highly creative and transcendental fusion of marimba, vibraphone, bamboo percussion and synthesizers, ki-motion was recorded in 1981 and captures the birth of midori takadas exploration of minimalism, african rhythmic tradition, and ambient music. the album takes its conceptual inspiration from the tamarind ( ÔmkwajuÕ in swahili), a drought resistant tree notably used to craft some of the first mallets and marimbas but also known for its culinary and medical uses, an essential symbol of life and identity for the central african grasslands. drawing from the regions culture and music as well as the crucial notion that rhythms represent the very fabric of life, midori takada leads her ensemble into environmental heaven to create one of the highlights of her recording career and an absolute must-have from the golden age of japanese ambient the ideal companion to her majestic through the looking glass opus!

all tracks are from tanakas archive (2010-2015), which were produced since he had moved his base in berlin. the idea of the dj mixing with only his own tracks has been gestating for sometime and with his trials during his dj dates in europe, south america and japan the selection of the tracks and combination has been made. the thought process of mixing his own materials could be similar to preparing for his own live set. this recording was done at this home in berlin. all tracks has been released on 12inch vinyl (snd 06.07.08 on 2017) except track 6.

hot off the heels of the beautiful obsolete machines lp released this month, radiuss cassette demo restoration project returns to form with the interpolation tapes series. the original source tapes had aged, warped and degraded and as a result we ve preserved the best segments, sampled and reprocessed with a vintage prophet 2000 sampler, studio 440 and various linn samplers to add depth and range to the original source material. we ve spent nearly an entire year restoring and interpolating over 100 hours of music, processing sound and redesigning the blueprints of this long forgotten project. every track was originally recorded down to an old tascam 688, an 8 track cassette recorder purchased and abused since 1992 and to our ears still sounds quite impressive even by modern standards. we ve had nearly every component replaced and re-calibrated to bring this obsolete machine back to life. it s been a truly nostalgic experience re-visiting and re-arranging these masters, regardless of the time passed, there s so much depth in sound design, raw emotions and when considering the limitations of hardware in the era these were recorded, they ve truly aged like a fine wine. we hope you enjoy this magical time in music, as we are very inspired by all that was happening in those years, theres undeniably something in the air, a mystifying energy, long may it live on.
