the foundation of this dub album was created by some of the finest sessions musicians ever to grace the studios of 1960s & 70s jamaica. their instruments were the cornerstone to countless dub lps that began to surface in the early 70’s and continued on into the 80’s creating a whole new genre of music. as they did back in the early days of dub, the kingston all stars gathered together in kingston, jamaica at mixing lab studios and laid down a series of riddims that would lay the groundwork for what comes next: the singers. both greenwich farm rasta, prince alla, and falsetto, cedric myton of the the congos, contribute vocals to the album but half of the riddims on this lp are, to date, unreleased, and have yet to be voiced. in essence, this album is a sneak peak into upcoming releases. the style of riddims that were created during these sessions range from the cumbia influenced reyes dub to the ethiopian jazz flavored kebra dub that pays tribute to the african sound system, kebra ethiopia sound and shows the wide variety of influences that fuel these musicians. tracks like dub ova combine ansel collins keyboard work with hux browns infectious grooves to create a funky rhythm that you have not heard the last of.

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production. using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music. the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, pt.3 is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one. onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.

to the untrained ear a collaboration between mosaic boss steve o sullivan and minimal house maestro ricardo villalobos may not seem like the most obvious sound clash. however, dig a little deeper and you ll find that both these artists have a long history and shared love of stripped back aesthetics and dubbed out rhythms carving out respective sounds that have never strayed far from their roots. sullric is the result of a daylong session at the end of 2016 where the pair plugged in, switched on and set everything to cycle: recording several hours worth of material to tape with an edit of their favourite passage worked into two versions in post-production.

new imprint ocd’s first release comes from portland native aaron carlson who, with his ac$ alias, has generated quite a buzz in underground circles of late, off the back of a few highly sought-after records. ‘do u know what u represent?’ is a slice of rolling tech-house that utilises vocal snippets amidst a flurry of 909 hats while the rhodes-laced ’more odds’ dials up the swing with a nod to early prescription releases. on the b side, ‘just like you’ is a more heady affair, seeing lazy chords sitting over a nebulous bassline and assorted weirdness, while the acid-tinged, atmospheric ‘organ morph’ is sure to find favour with fans of binh or nicolas lutz.

the legendary moscow club propaganda celebrates its 20th anniversary in april 2017 and launches a brand new record label. the label will cover different styles of intelligent electronic music, focusing on techno in the first year. at the beginning there will be released music by great artists who had performances at propaganda club in the past. more artists will be involved and more excellent music will be released over time.

alderaan (mindtrip, weekend circuit) is the a.k.a. of franco de michele, techno raising talent based in buenos aires who is the new signing artist of white rose records.
starting with a deep ambient track, the release becomes stronger with jade where we find a mental techno track with nice percussions, but keeping the deepness of the beginning.
with form of distraction the release explotes with a huge mental and for moments psycho techno track that seems to lead the release.
permanence slows drives the ep to the darkness that suppose the end of this piece. strong release to present one of the new values of white rose.

after multiple cassette and 12” releases through kastil’s stale in 2016, it’s time for irazu’s latest addition to the series of complex techno works. “shtamm” is a package that contains four original cuts + a remix by specialist of high-end machine music regis. “refused to be found” is a soaring travel through moods and sonic landscapes which at times resonates like a helicopter flying through an inner city estate building. the aesthetic nature of the opening track is extended through “shtamm”. a multi dimensional piece of work that showcases a more submersive side of irazu s broad pallette. “last hours” is a cinematic stroke of vivid pads that sound like they were extracted from a remastered russian thriller classic. regis opens ups the b-side with a rework of “shtamm”. the off-beat machine funk of the remix leaves little of the original mix intact, yet regis has turned it into a staggering piece of ferocity. “torso” is another irazu original that sound like 7.5 minutes of vigorous rhythms and swerving perc elements.

new amsterdam based label native response debuts with a delicate yet forceful 3-track ep by nathan surreal and kaap on remix duty. stockholm packs a peak-time punch, while emo effect is one for the more hypnotising moments on the dance floor. the analog bomb remix by kaap smashes 808 kicks and snares all over the place. native response 001 is limited available on 12” vinyl.

the fourteenth effort in the attic music series is a full ep by roman artist cristiano balducci under his black catcher alias. gossip is a firm and futuristic sounding bundle of modern day techno which spans 3 tracks.
on the a-side we find the title track gossip which is a scorching haul of tough drum sounds and hypnotizing arp sounds that build throughout.
the opening track on the b side is a remix of the track by cristiano balducci himself of more acidic proportions.
the final cut on this 12 is the original into the void, which showcases a deeper side of black catcher. this track is built around a misty atmosphere and soaring synth patches.

bakalas ep vol.01 aims to make known new talents from hypnotica colectiva’s circle. artists whose music captivated us because of their ability to reflect the influence of this new aggressive face of techno that recently came into the scene, and where we find traces from genres such as hardcore or styles within techno itself such as industrial or birmingham.

it kicks off with kfactor. a brazilian ebm-artist, bringing a strong sounding newbeat track. on the edge of military rhythms and cheezy acidlines, and an unmistakely ongoing beat.
vv303, also an ebm artist, give us more then just pure acid. 303’s snorring and humping the dancefloor on fire.
ascended man is the pseudonim for olivier abbeloos, know from t99, quadraphonia,... joins us on this release with a masterpiece. the track connects modern underground electro with the strong and dark newbeat. another floorfiller.
-washing the machince- is the closing track, and a reference to the classic house sound of the warehouse and other early traxx, and still fresh and very newbeat.
