if you like the sound of cheap analog synthesizers from the mid 80s, drum machines and strangely pitched human voices this might be the record for you. a small warning about the quite melodic and poppy arrangement, it is not minimal, nor pure drones. sorry. estelle ep has nothing to do with the car Škoda estelle, even though some instruments used on the songs were produced during the same years. estelle ep is more or less a result of the new kranglan broadcast hardware studio environment. the plan was simple: to get rid of the machines that were not being used and to make the rest communicate with each other. this resulted in some very fine jams where realtime feelings and spontaneous ideas were converted into music. each track is its own moment in time.

for a short period in 1981 and with brand-new equipment such as roland 808, sh 101, gr 500, we made some 8-track just for fun jam tapes. mainly just to experiment for our own pleasure. from those sessions, only white horse made it to a final treatment. the rest of the material was left behind, as our record company at the time found it too different. after white horse being a track indeed defining our sound, we thought it would be interesting to dig out left-overs to fulfill a documentation of that period - crucial for us at the time. we were still innocent newcomers, without actually knowing to be creating a new sound! recently, that left-over material was transferred from analogue to digital and, to stay as true as possible to original intentions, we only added vocals, bass and drumbeats ahead of a final mix. we hope that you will enjoy listening to it. good vibes from laid back copenhagen 2012.

disco mali! sofrito present a unique slice of afro-disco from the celebrated griot, niama makalou, recorded in the late 70s.
descended from a family of griots (traditional malian praise singers), niama makalou moved to france in the mid 70s where she cut this, her one and only vinyl release. at the time paris (like much the rest of the world) was swept up in disco fever, so along with a group of malian musicians the date was set to cut a piece of disco, griot style. the resulting mixture of off kilter hand claps, raw string arrangements, balafon flourishes and bambara vocals combine with a heavy disco groove to produce a one-off piece of cross-cultural dancefloor mayhem.
on the flip daphni (aka caribou) crafts an extended version that distills it into a stripped down and dubbed out groove.

the debut release on poem by neotnas, is set to showcase both the labels outlook and pedigree. the outlook of quality, from the music, to the pressing and artwork, and the pedigree, which is proven in the history of tobias duffner, who ran fauxpas musik, and his choice of upcoming artists already slated to release on poem. neotnas hails from the city of chelyabinsk in russia, and delivers a mature yet fresh ep of deep, well versed grooves. to grant it a genre would narrow the appeal of these tracks, but rest assured those from house or techno backgrounds will both find common ground. these tracks stand out for their almost unearthly feel, and its easy to hear that neotnas are close to the ural mountains, in tracks like kai, or that day, which serve both the head and the feet. the future for poem lies in cultivating new artists as talented as neotnas, to go alongside proven ones, as a list of remix names show how poem will progress: convextion/e.r.p., anton zap, modern stalking and mlz to name a few already at work.

reptile youth is a riot, a dream and a 21st century fuck you dadaism movement. - mads damsgaard having already earned a devotional following after a series of intense, raucous and explosive gigs across europe and asia, the release of their debut single ‘speeddance’ will let the rest of the world in on the reptile youth secret. formed in denmark in 2009 by vocalist mads damsgaard kristiansen and bassist esben valløe, and previously known as reptile and retard, the band toured extensively in 2010 and 2011 to rapturous acclaim from audiences and critics alike. their live shows have border on barely contained chaos, their dominance of the stage inspiring a fervent following among those in the know. danish producer kasper bjørke, acting as a&r and executive producer for the band, is the man ensuring the transfer of this volatile energy to reptile youths releases.

future times is pleased to present a track that has been a big part of dj sets by swimmers, max, and the rest of the crew for a couple years now. this one-sided 12 is a recombination of two classic tracks, made especially for the club by a close friend. finally available on vinyl for the true freaks!

after a break for over a year pattern repeat is back again with another two tracks on their own label. both kenneth & resoe has been really busy last year, so it has been difficult to meet up in the studio. but now they had the time to finish two tracks of deep dirty techno from the capitol of denmark copenhagen. again they set it of with raw dirty dub infected grooves and the a side starts up right away with the dub elements intact, and then keeps building through the rest of the track. after the short break a hypnotic atmosphere kicks off in best pattern repeat style. the b side starts slowly with an almost alfred hitchcock kind of atmosphere, with a dull kick underneath. the track keeps gettin more dirty through the 6 min. and 15 secs. it last, with more distortion added to the dub stabs. its a good way that kenneth & resoe returns since the last 12 inch they put out in december 2010, to set the stage for 2012.

following a pair of fine releases on fine art and under the shade, james johnston delivers another superb ep for no matter what. >after everything< is a masterfully created slice of rolling deep house flirting with disco styles, punctuated with snippets of disco guitar licks and dubbed out vocal samples, all held together with a sumptuous chord sequence. the comparatively upbeat tempo rhythm and deep subs of >lost the house keys< which follows comes as something of a surprise, and the chopped up piano which causes the track to erupt into a flurry of jacking rhythms only add to the proto-chi house mood. the rest of the tracks continue with the same kind of upbeat pace, with >get back to the feeling< interlacing a variety of female vocal samples within its 909 rhythms, and >xtc< injecting some serotonin into the ep with its razor sharp synth stabs and snares, whose rhythms recall the deadly precision of marc kinchens early productions...

the next ep on germany s hello? repeat imprint comes from seuil, one of paris s most inspired underground producers. in terms of style, it is a match that could hardly be more perfect. hello? repeat has spent the past six years carving a niche for itself with eps from cabanne, audio werner and label co-founder daze maxim, plus acclaimed albums by bruno pronsato and kate simko. seuil, meanwhile, has put out a steady stream of ultra-deep 12-inches on labels like freak n chic and sammy dees ultrastretch. both specialize in a sound that is modern, understated and hypnotic. late call is exactly what its name suggests: a record made for the deepest, most tender portion of the night. the drums are slick and punchy, but the rest is woozy and romantic–this is one to put on when the crowd has stopped chatting and everyone s dancing with their eyes closed. topping it off is a vocal line made famous by diana ross but recited here by an androgynous diva: if you need me, call me, no matter where you are, no matter how far… dark, trippy and weirdly moving, this is one of seuil s finest tracks yet. >slow motion< strikes a similar chord but with a more subtle approach. here you notice seuil s rare touch for subtlety: in the absence of any real >hook<, he keeps the track moving with expertly sculpted drums, a warm half-melody and a gently propulsive beat. soft chords sustain in the background to create a balmy summer night feel. both tracks show seuil and hello? repeat doing what they do best: delivering something deep, functional and full of character.

raf pisani and marco conte, aka audiomatiques, have long been involved in techno but its since they began working together as audiomatiques that everything began to click. together with roberto capuano, an artist who has already released for loose, claque musique, monique musique and suara, the duo have delivered 3 sterling tracks, which are backed by a remix from rino cerrone, for loose. cerrone takes full advantage of his position as label boss and places his remix of >so bad< in pole. its a walloping but low slung affair riddled with hypnotic rises and false drops which build incredible tension. in original form, >so bad< is a pounding affair. the focus is centred around an unholy bass heavy kick with just the minimum of percussive flourishes and vocal effects doing the rest with aplomb. >mind trip<, while equally as heavy, is fluid and slick. swinging tribal vibes and some clever effects work paired with an airtight arrangement makes for a surefire club burner. finally, the bizarre yet compelling leads of the aptly titled >crazy synth< close proceedings with a fever-dream fervour. original and memorable, this is a genuinely anthemic cut.

there are few artists who manage to successfully develop a signature style that not separates them from the rest. aybee is one of those rare few that has managed to conquer a range of styles within his work from soul, techno, house and hip-hop under his many monikers. this time we see the us artist team up with miles sagnia for two cuts each on the eternal radiance ep on sagnias atmospheric existence imprint. taking over the a-side, aybee serves up >a glance< which oozes with classic us house charm. acoustic piano chords and are layered on top of a chugging bassline and electronic melody, tightly produced and melting in its warmth. >isis< gets heavier with a more underground vibe of crashing echoes and tinny drum arrangements. on the flip, sagnias >journey 2 forever< fuses multi-tracked choral chants, the impeccable sound of the hammond and a rapid techy groove. his visual foci reprise of >journey 2 forever< ditches the chants, instead opting for a sensual male vocal

neapolitan techno powerhouse unrilis delivers a brand new ep from gaetano parisio in the form of needing chords. up there with the likes of adam beyer, ben sims and marco carola as one of the premier exponents of european techno, parisios reputation is backed up by an enviable discography and touring schedule. needing chords, backed by a remix from another neapolitan legend in rino cerrone, is a heavy-set, muscular techno-workout which builds with unbridled intensity. cerrones remix is considerably more stripped but loses none of the originals power. moodier and with a sinister edge, its an interpretation which provides an exciting slant on the original. the skippy funk of fake stuff follows and does so with a playful urgency. threaded with a snaking white noise motif that ebbs and flows under staccato keys, its hugely hypnotic while not loosing its groove. finally, its the trippy synths of program meanings that close the ep. heavily layered the track constantly and fluidly shifts with filters revealing new combinations of layers throughout while a funk licked bassline and heavy drums do the rest. hope the usa tour was fun!

stepping to the hard left, richard sen + cazbees edits are always a touch different from the rest of the zillion edits around. influenced by the newave and disco not disco sound of clubs like the music box these 3 new cuts have a disctinctly dark and naughty flavour. listen and judge for yourself…. mixed blood cuts has been supported from djs including: dj harvey, andrew weatherall, optimo, padded cell, idjut boys, cosmo vitelli, mark moore, pete herbert, lovefingers, golf channel and more.

following off from the widely acclaimed >gangs< ep, dave.i.d brings a new epic, aggressive and tribal sounding record, which is a refreshing outburst from the rest of the new music we are currently swamped by. this is a creation of dave.i.ds perception of modern reality and his life within that and >response< represents this perfectly.

new vocal 12 inch on wph....tip! it should be obvious by now that we here at the wph camp are keen on real vocals. so while the rest of the world is busy sampling and recycling vocals from the past, leave it up to us to pick out those tracks that feature fresh and home made vocals. although wph 012 by dj yellow also indulges in a little bit of recycling, or rather good old fashioned licensing. the title track >night in tranzylvania< has been a huge favourite with label boss red d and his belgian crowd ever since it was released on the criminally overlooked album >intermission< on project recordings in 2008. but now it is back in all its glory and supported by >angels part< a killer ambient track which also featured on that album album, >je tm<, a new track by dj yellow and a russ gabriel remix of the title track.
