this is a label that i have been meaning to start for years. however, with a possible twist of fate, it is the right time and the perfect body of music to be able to commit to vinyl. these are records that i am honoured to own and play out. a new label from bristol based artist, thrilogy (also known as lee pattison who previously recorded as deepgroove (rekids, cocoon, klang elektronik, junior boys own). expect -organic dusty sampling deep house and techno from bristol artists and friends further afield- and hand-drawn artwork by local artist anna higgie. thrilogy has previously recorded on wolf music, futureboogie and om records and look forward to an ep on omena with an exciting man power remix. also, ishmael finishes the year on a high, his debut album sometime in space (on church records) showcased the multi-instrumentalist s jazzy house cuts alongside peak time techno and chilling ambient pieces. since then ishmael has been touring his live show, as well as releasing some of the most inventive house music to come out of the uk.

best records own luminary claudio casalini was at the helm for this one-shot studio project that captures italo disco at its most exuberant and organic. originally released in 1984, the bassline on -stop your lies- is a quintessential slice of synthetic throb from a golden era, but the electronic elements are wonderfully offset by rich instrumentation and a brilliantly camp vocal performance from the unnamed boy-girl combo. the vocal mix on the a side is strong enough for a single-sided cut, but the instrumental on the flip widens out the reach of the record and really lets casalini s superb production shine through

a subtly appealing tape in a pink cover with an imposing artwork of highly erotic nuances: this cassette, originally promoted as candy-coloured sex-shop electronics, is the absolute gem of internazionale s discography and is clearly destined to become a timeless modern classic. together with the track the charnel house, included on the compilation ny dansk romantik, the excellent craftsmanship of elegy for the victors quickly evoked the loyal admiration of listeners worldwide who were captivated by its charm. this earned the danish artist a cult status and established him as an accomplished composer. the ambient music with an industrial flair of his earlier releases becomes organic in elegy for the victors and acquires life: a life depicting gorgeously melodious passages which tell a story of happy sadness or of sad happiness. such narrative is constructed by means of a lo-fi but majestic and emotionally charged sensitivity, gentle waves of haunting loops, cinematic samples and sweet maritime sounds which will hypnotise you. this is the long-awaited remastered vinyl reissue with a new artwork which, beautifully and more appropriately, captures the melancholic essence of a masterpiece of rarefied elegance.

atmospheric and ambient dub master yagya serves up stars and dust, his seventh full length album and second on delsin. it finds the icelandic artist perfectly pair melody and minimalism to create ten more tender tracks that will sooth both body and mind with a range of very real emotions. electronic but organic, it is another complete work that encourages you to lay back and get lost in sumptuous sound.

blitz the ambassador more organic rap meets west african sounds from ghana. the visionary sound of blitz the ambassador has been years in the making, with each album crafted to reflect a sonic and visual narrative unique to blitz s personal experience. his fourth studio album diasporadical exemplifies this trajectory. blitz spent a great deal of time traveling between accra, salvador bahia and brooklyn experiencing the similarities between the african diaspora. the album title diasporadical was born out of this experience blitz explains. the radical notion that no matter how fragmented the african diaspora is, the influence of rhythm and spirituality remains largely the same.

larry and bell are two musos from the east and west of the atlantic, who met on a scuba trip in belize in 99. larry plays bongos, bell is on the organic sampler and echo pedal, and a local cast of musicians backed them up on guitar, double bass, and kick drum. after a few rum daiquiris and many spliff, these are the sessions whittled down to strictly the best of hits.

the durian brothers consist of rising polyrhythmic talent dont dj, outernational adventurer harmonious thelonious and salon des amateurs resident marc matter. following their excellent outings on kontra-musik and diskant, the experimental trio build on a burgeoning relationship with emotional response by gathering together some of the best of their intense, globetrotting sounds. theres a great focus on cyclical rhythms, not least on the wonderful planete sauvage, while mille yeaux takes a more spacious, groovy route through wooden percussion and pinging organic tones. considering the scarcity of the original diskant pressings of these tracks, this collection couldnt come quickly enough.

after a string of releases in 2016, french journeyman and beat craftsman hugo lx returns on balance recordings with his first house long player. supposedly designed as a more traditional 3-tracks offering, the project progressively turned into a two parts album, reflecting on past, present and future events through organic electronic music, with the loss of a dear friend and men­tor as the turning point. instead of a contemplative tribute piece, this effort focuses on storytelling, narrating crucial life moments through various song and interlude formats, colours and musical styles, producing a vaporous yet funky, jazzy and hiphop infused house music, flirting with soulful atmospheres and ambiant elec­tronic textures.

after the release of their collaborative breed ep at the end of last summer, nicole moudaber and skin (from skunk anansie) have unveiled their highly anticipated remix package featuring a long list of respected producers. carl craig, fur coat, jamie jones, jerome sydenham, paco osuna, pan-pot and scuba.

video for the title track “mango bay” was played for hours over stream by one of the top dota players rtz, achieving legendary meme status over night. “rush” and “rocky bay” are wrapping up the a side carrying faster tech grooves, while still maintaining the organic component (warmth) with bass, chopped vocals and woodwind leads.
b side starts off with “calypso”, one of the earliest x-coast productions - a steady house groove made from layers of keys, trumpet stabs, rich with hats and ghost snares - perfect to get the party started. being the last track, “don’t stop” is a hidden gem of this ep - what seems to be a hawaiian steel guitar classic, quickly transforms into a floor stomper, it’s a house beat reinforced by a classic rolling break, hammond stabs and samples of sterling void & paris brightledge’s “it’s all right”.

le chatroom, a record label established in 2016 by the english producer kouslin, searches for the missing link between underground bass music and outer national sounds. its music is defined by the blend of synthetic and organic tones, modern / classic instruments and low- end heavy percussive rhythms....the three producers that feature on ‘lcr001’ pass on their fundamentals to conjure le chatroom’s philosophy red-handed. together they do the imprint’s name justice by handing over critical bass repertoire that’ll excite many!

even if russian producer gradient logic is found here turning out the business on serbian label disco fruit, the sound on the far away ep comes on like a snappy fusion of garage-ready new york proto house and laid back west coast boogie of the highest order. it s the third vinyl release for tonbe s label, and once more marks the serious clout behind the eastern european operation and its closest artists. just try grooving to the slick bass pops on feel me without being transported to an early 80s dancefloor. there s a more organic funk to lock into on i want you slide, but as ever it s hard to tell where the sampling ends and the musicianship begins on this utterly natural sounding ep.

if anything, stojche’s take on detroit inspired techno rarely requires your permission for engagement. the fifth installment of his own label, tangible assets, is no different. this singular producer always manages to conjure up otherworldly atmospheres that resonate from head to feet. with that said, we could spend the next three paragraphs throwing around adjectives and splashing colorful words all over this press release regarding his sound, the aesthetic within each track in this release, and we could even volunteer a side helping of words that somehow make sense of this young producers studio ability. one thing however is for certain. tang005’s true charm lies in its ability to capture an honesty and sincerity that’s as captivating as it is transcendent. there’s a clinical yet organic approach that stojche adopts time and time again in formulating his tangible asset releases, and if anything, tang005 should provide further evidence of his depth, maturity and innate ability to create enchantment. this record is wrapped in captivating moments born from flourishing stabs, twilight synths, rolling charges of calculated manic rhythms and subatomic motions living within a range of intricately programmed beats. add to that a host of cinematic sweeps that develop into harmonic clouds of melancholy and you’re one step closer to the true romance etched within the grooves of this record. once again, stojche has created an ep that catalyses imagination. a series of intense voyages with thoughtfully considered moments and movements that have been executed by a man well in tune with his craft.

just this s first various artists aims to the research of a mix of sounds by producers from different countries, to a journey into a variegated world. melancholic vibes, deep ambient atmospheres. the second part of the various artists, gets straight to the point, reaching the dancefloor in a more hard and deep insistent way. the first track inside world is composed by hunter/game, as a playful banger with a solid kick, brushed percussions and surging, subtly atmospheric synth pads that make the track dreamy while fierce. the second one by pisetzky comes with a strong, continuous 4/4 bassline and organic percussion from start to end, further on dominated by a hypnotic melody followed by a more romantic and dreamy motif full of longing melancholy and eternity. the third one comes from just this new artist altman, with a breaking mellow downbeat theme, it lets all squeaky sounds mesh nicely like a dream landscape opening up into a widescreen chord progression, with an epic build up.

having previously worked with zero 7 and nightmares on wax before embarking on a solo career a few years back, mozez (aka soul singer/songwriter osmond wright) is no newcomer. the ray mang-produced run river first appeared on last year s wings full-length, and here makes it to wax for the first time. sitting somewhere between early freeez and odyssey, mang s extended vocal version is something of a soulful, soft-spun disco-funk treat. as we ve come to expect from mang, its musically rich and impeccably played, with the live instrumentation providing a deliciously organic feel. this can be heard more clearly on the excellent flipside instrumental.

jonny nash remix! not an animal keeps up the pace and pressure with yet another high quality distinctive release, further cementing the labels specific sound and revealing more of the scope of its musical mission. machete savane are compromised of label co owner andy bainbridge and producer/composer saul richards. manticore continues with their instantly recognisable hi octane yet organic discofied sound, as previously displayed via their releases on cynic and redux. remix wise, there s a very much night and day choice to be had here, with johnny nash (land of light) providing his trademark blissed-out ambience to a beatless rendition and ian blevins taking the original even further into dancefloor territory, upping the tempos and evoking the drive of paperclip people.

over the mountains is segues second album on silent season, a follow up to pacifica which was released to much praise in 2013. over the mountains continues the course in true segue fashion with an album full of dubbed out atmospheric grooves and deep organic structures. the sound is consumed by nature—immense, enveloping nature in jordan sauers never-ending quest to capture the sublime. the record feels like a nostalgic dream swirling in melodies and buzzing with nature sounds. over the mountains is honourably another awe-inspiring album of lush landscapes by this canadian artist

the martinez brothers cuttin headz returns with a new ep from the butcha, entitled 10001 and backed with two remixes from matrixxman. phil moffa aka the butcha is a new york city based musician, producer and engineer most notably known for his works alongside dj spider and anthony parasole for sublevel sounds / plan b recordings and alongside seth troxler for hypercolour. here we see him return to the fledgling cuttin headz imprint with his idiosyncratic take on raw, emotive house music following his destination void release alongside dj spider and brendon moeller last year. up first are two originals from the butcha, the first of which 99 prince st. lays focus on echoing atmospherics, snaking rhodes and shuffling dubbed out percussion while the latter, 6 hubert st. pivots towards an amalgamation an upfront organic rhythm alongside a weighty low end drive and wandering synth swells. to complete the package san franciscos matrixxman delivers two interpretations, firstly the acidized mix which as the name would suggest draws on squelching 303 lines layered over processed snippets from the original before the digital bonus transhuman mix closes on an arpeggio fuelled techno tip.

both sides evoke the ubiquitous tension between anxiety and gratification inherent to a curious human experience.
driving bass and organic percussion sit within a subtly evolving context, as the tone oscillates between claustrophobia and euphoria. the result is two ultimately uplifting techno tracks, equally relevant on the dance floor as in the hands of the home listener.

first appearing on watergate with a phenomenal remix of ruede hagelsteins soul dynamic last year, we are more than overzealous to announce fur coats reappearance with their debut ep interstellar. known for their deep and hypnotic yet fiercely engaging sound of dramatic melodies and formidable low end, the duo paint a vivid display of emotional dance floor scenarios in two exquisitely crafted tracks.interstellar takes off with heavy, pulsating drums and long blasts of sub bass as an enchanting exhibit of melodic wash over open spaces. the flip side sees the two join forces with the sultry voice of delhia de france on ‘desire of mine creating a deeply emotional tune that pulses with climactic fever. returning the favor for last years remix, ruede expertly twists the original desire of mine with his unique brushstroke of sweltering organic percussion and infectious atmospheres ideal for a multitude of events.

the third instalment of braiden s off out label arrives via chunyin, a new dancefloor orientated project by hong kong born, sydney based artist, singer and producer rainbow chan. early support from benji b, eclair fifi, bill kouligas, joy orbison amongst others. the lead track of this release, -fei-, was the genesis of this project, created as she started to explore the world of murky dancefloor music. the track delivers a raw, punky attitude with a nod to minimal wave, littered with warped organic sounds and samples of hong kong new wave cinema. following this is -emporium-, a relentless jacking dancefloor number, syncopated groove laden drums married with airy atmospherics. -shi- closes this ep with a unique and brooding techno inspired track that rolls yet feels as though it s perpetually falling apart at the seams. vinyl comes with screenprinted and chinese seal hand-stamped artwork designed by braiden, illustrated by chuny
