title track don t stop is a loose and playful thing that chucks loopy, circular drums, little vocal riffs, synth stabs and tumbling toms into the mix and lets them all groove along for almost six infectious minutes. its a spritely, silvery and slithering concoction that makes you shake your every limb. stare is a deeper, darker thing with rattling snares rolling over flappy kick drums and wobbling synths ducking in and out of the space left behind. its a tumultuous, drum lead affair that toys with your expectation, threatening to drop or explode but never quite doing so, instead keeping you right on the edge of your seat throughout. the final offering is nian which again has super well defined drums and hits all tumbling and sparking off each other. it s spacious stuff, too, and the indecipherable foreign language vocals add another layer of intrigue to what is already a fascinating cut.

killer ep of hypnotic late-night techno from the rapidly maturing dark arts imprint. the brooding * point blank* kicks things off, combining twisted low end darkness with eerie orchestral stabs and immense claps – a darkly elegant opening. next up, * panic* is an essential joint, riding in on a tightly-controlled broken rhythm before a unique, string-heavy motif provides the intrigue. side 2 opens with the tensile funk of * downstream* – a sleek, driving dancefloor offering to get lost in, with space-aged atmospherics and bristling percussion sitting astride a tunnelling techno groove. finally the motorik * ricochet* combines submerged dub textures with slinky synth work – a strong closing statement for this towering record. tip! with support from the likes of dvs1, nd_baumecker, answer code request and alex do, dark arts is becoming an essential label.

rising label releases its second ep with an original track by victor martinez, another artist from the agency, that gives life to this record and gets completed by remixes from oscar mulero, ness and adriana lopez. the original track by victor, -anything called dead consumerism”, is all about visceral and obscure techno with broken rhythms and high levels of hypnotism. following, we can find oscar mulero’s remix, a version that suggests another groove but maintains the essence of the original making it a serious and effective weapon. on the b side we can find ness’ remix, a track that captures you since the beginning. deep, elastic and elegant at the same time where hypnotism reigns and this few characteristics of the italian producer. adriana lopez closes the ep with a more percussive and energetic version. fine techno that catches you from the first beat, a perfect track as a dj.

we who like to think of ourselves as disruptors felt that the time has come for a shift. a new path for chronicle emerges, carved out with a new series of 7 inch records limited to only 250 copies. our inaugural release, entitled words for silence, will be unleashed at our debut chronicle showcase on march 29th at berghain. as our way of giving thanks to our supporters the first 10 copies will be passed out in secrecy to attendants looming in the shaded corners of the club. words for silence features two driving tracks from aiken and the illusive ben gibson – two producers that have both crafted powerful eps for us and will be gracing the decks that evening along with nick dunton (65 d mavericks), boris, oliver deutschmann and mike dehnert among others. we could not be more honored to host this night, and look forward to unveiling more releases of this caliber for other special events/turning points. so watch out below… aikens *singularity* has a groove that beeps like a time bomb waiting to explode, washing over you with its sinful drones - while gibsons track *parallax* takes things a bit deeper with pastoral pads and fluttering hi-hats. together they create a balance of rhythm and energy that will be well suited for a number of unique moments while in the chamber.

emotional especial gathers pace with an eighth release from richard sen, a man whose cultured touch has had a hand in various strands of the uk underground for the past two decades. graffiti artist, graphic designer, music curator, dj and producer are all vocations richard sen has done at one point or another. here he goes solo with the ghost train ep, a dark and brooding release of old school meets new school house jack that takes its cues from 80s new york, italian house and the nascent uk acid house that sen himself documented with aplomb on a 2012 compilation for strut. naggingly familiar samples and a low slung box jam groove drive the spectral title cut forward, whilst sens mastery of delay is shown with aplomb on the dub version that closes out the record. nestled in between is the highlight however in *meteor shower* where discoid basslines merge with psychedelically charged keys and hollowed out steppers percussion.

techno-legends oliver bondzio and ramon zenker aka hardfloor are back in style this season! with their beloved machine music that is free from seasonal flares, and artificial flavours. hardfloor are still true to the core of their 303 platine circuit boards. electronic music production is nothing less than a bare necessity to these pioneers of the acid groove. hailed and namedropped by many a young producer’s today, revamped or sampled... acid lines emerge anew in quite a few tracks. but when hardfloor put acid in their tank - it is sooo much more and way bigger than a marketable gimmick or the fuel to an otherwise exchangeable battery of loops. it is the motor, the lifeline and the heartbeat to a whole organism offering a whole world of expression and – first and foremost - emotions!

latest iib release features the north easts version of csn last waltz. a double header, the first track just hold on is a collaboration between last waltz & smoove. heartfelt vocals over a pastoral rolling chugger, deep bassline folky guitar strumming making this a favourite at iib hq. on the remix ess o ess raise the tempo a little bring out the electric guitars and increasing the chug to almost krautrock levels. on the flip side last waltz give us tribute. a deep atmospheric acid affair. mellow electric keys and percussion lull you into a false sense of security before the heavy kick and acid bassline drop with dark cello notes. machete savane take on the remix. replacing acid for guitar and adding some machine groove this slowly builds and builds into a top bubbler.

kiwanuka, a 25 year-old uk native of ugandan heritage, was raised in north london where he split his time between session work and local gigs. along the way, having found footing as a solo artist, he was signed to communion records, then polydor, and has since performed throughout europe and north america too touring in direct support of adele. he made his way through nashville this past summer with just enough pause and aplomb to commit these morsels to tape. the a-side *you ve got nothing to lose* is an original composition, featuring the buzzards dominic davis on upright bass and cory younts on piano, joined also by fellow balladeer lillie mae rische on fiddle. their contributions transform his work into a stone-cold groove with almost orchestral underpinnings, making it a fitting extension of their previous blue series. the single also features a chilling rendition of townes van zandts infamous *waitin round to die* on the b-side, the perfect compliment to the timbre and mood of the a-side.

limited double a side reissue of two classic disco bombs by 70s keyboardist don ray. with production duties undertaken by french electro-disco legend cerrone, both tracks are proper dancefloor weapons laden with heavy synths, bouncing b-lines and awesome punchy horns. first up is the amazing groove armada-sampled disco stomper standing in the rain, featuring powerful vocals over a searing groove that made it massive at the time. flip over for got to have loving, an exhilarating disco burner with hot sexy female vocals and a great breakdown later reworked by the revenge. superb double-header of must-have tracks - dont sleep!

with *closer* masterton debuts on blackfoxmusics 19th release (bfm019). *closer* is a warm track with a deep groove and beautiful melodies. it relates to living in a long distance relationship and overcoming a lack of proximity.
robert babicz (babiczstyle, systematic, bedrock records) created an incredible remix. he used lots of the original melodies, combined them with new elements, added rolling drums and a thick bassline to give the track the extra drive. his remix became a constant part of his live sets and was debuted with great response at grelle forelle (vienna) and ritter butzke (berlin).
channel x (stil vor talent) remixed *closer* into a pretty cool and clubby deep house track. you can feel their berlin origin when listening to the groovy bassline with variations of the melody. finally the breaks capture the mood of the dissonant sounds from the original track.

originally released as an ultra-limited 12 inch on philomena which are now fetching upwards of £200 on discogs glasgow underground is re-issuing the classic dixon edit of romanthonys the wanderer. much in the spirit of the original/prescription underground >cd #9 version< which michael mayer puts in his all time great dance records dixon delivers a sun-kissed, bass-heavy groove that is pure panorama bar house music at its very best. this will be a limited hand spray-painted release.
