magic feet introduce three new artists on their first label sampler, as well as a remix from label owner craig bratley. the tracks cover various genres, taking their inspiration from house, italo, new beat and disco. first up is paresse, an alias of swedish producer ivan bergren. *the night before you came* is a hypnotic, evolving slice of future disco. craig bratleys remix shows craig indulging in his obsession with the world of analogue synths and sees the track taking in a deeper and darker direction. craig has also had a hand in editing *lost era* by kepier on the flipside, a track with a direct lineage to the belgian new beat sound. to round off the ep, we have soul tension, an alias of tony beardsley, who also produces as dark strands. *suburban life* is a superb take on the slo-mo techno sound.

nice price deal !!! every once in a while a particular record will land in our laps which we have very little information on but usually somebody will unearth its origins after a bit of homework and more often than not it turns out to be a relatively well-known producer operating under a new and secret pseudonym. what we are looking at here however, seems to be quite the enigma. one can only speculate as to who watkins & almadovar might be.

having established his own basic grooves imprint with a trio of sultry new jersey influenced house releases, shane linehan hands the fourth release over to up and coming french producer janeret. *hard deep* goes even, ahem, deeper that linehans efforts for the label, combining a slamming mid-tempo kick drum with crisp and cavernous dub piano chords and the subtlest of organ riffs, making a nice contrast to the more upbeat styles of linehan. on the flip, linehan delivers his own version of track which ups the tempo and offers a ravey, pitched take on the originals simple one chord piano line, complete with bristling hi-hats and warm pad breakdown.

da soul revival classics vol 1 presents two gems from the tyree cooper canon and ensures the newly established chicago vinyl records operation launches in fine style. brandishing one of house musics most distinctive voices as well as an enviable discography and endlessly energetic style, coopers contribution to chicago house cannot be disputed. the label delve into coopers dancemania contributions on the a side, plucking out the b side bump of *kan i get high* which originally saw release on his 19997 future recooped 12 inch for the iconic imprint. flip over and coopers dedication to all the stars of chicago *tyz n da middle* gets a much needed airing having first appeared back in 1995 on quick release records.
