Nice Price Deal !!! Every once in a while a particular record will land in our laps which we have very little information on but usually somebody will unearth its origins after a bit of homework and more often than not it turns out to be a relatively well-known producer operating under a new and secret pseudonym. What we are looking at here however, seems to be quite the enigma. One can only speculate as to who Watkins & Almadovar might be.

Sales Information:

The thought has even crossed our minds that it might even be two folk who are actually called Watkins & Almadovar as ridiculous as that sounds. Are they some kind of sonic alchemists who have spanned the globe seeking out the most esoteric recesses of sonic experimentation? Were they taught dark and arcane tuning systems by vile monks in an undiscovered land? Did they converse with otherworldly entities in an ancient house on the banks of a muddy river in order to open the door to a blinding light of previously unknown musical pain and pleasure, like a modern-day John Dee and Edward Kelley? Or is Watkins a librarian and Almadovar a mechanic who met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in their resident town of Kent, only to discover a mutual fascination and shared collection of vintage analogue synthesizers and drum machines? Judging from the music that lays in the grooves of this enticing record all of the above could be true. The A-side is a grubby but vicious affair that's only retro element is making one fleetingly reminisce about the time when the line between House and Techno was as thin as the piece of paper this was written on. Ain't no backtracking to the good 'ol days here, just a thrust into the dystopian future that falls in line with the gnarled epic that was Two Dogs in a House's "Eliminator" saga and the blistering white heat of Container. Except this is way hairier! The B-side tones down the freak-level just a touch, in favour of menacing arrangements that chip away your sanity as what feels like an infinity in limbo passes. For those with a penchant for the brooding club workouts of Traxx, JTC and Anthony Parasole this cut will do the trick just nicely. Let's just hope Watkins & Almadovar are around long enough to drop more hot bricks like this before they get burned at the stake for high sorcery!
