first on side b we have another dancefloor monster. no more is is driven by a hypnotic synth and infused with enough drums to keep you on the move for the whole 7 minutes. le van a cantar keeps the catchy driving mood but this time iulian explores a more broken path. bubbly voices, snares and a haunted synth emerging now and then make this corner as interesting as the rest.

hello sailor is a party and record label based in brooklyn, ny founded by brazilian-born, new york based renata do valle. since 2012, the label has been staging events with an array of local and international artists. following the killer first release ( muko wapi ), featuring the joakim rework was never going to be easy, but luckily sao paolo dj duo selvagem step up ! acclaimed releases on the beats in space x label and universal cave have established them as a force to be reckoned with in the esoteric edits game. le freak is a cumbia style rendition of the chic classic, driven by insane synths and sampled drum loops, punctuated with low-pitched vocals in portuguese. tamanqueiro could be one of the greatest hits by jorge ben, if it wasn t written by elizio de buzios. that s his only release ever and now is a holy grail of brazilian funk, fetching small fortunes when found. here it appears in an extended and dj-friendly version.

denis kaznacheev is better known as one half of the russian duo easy changes. hes also the co-founder of nervmusic. he advocates a very organic and powerful minimal techno and makes use of his modular system on his own and unique way. denis cooks a mix of emotions to your ears and to the floor. waiting for his visa application between siberia and moscow hes been doing some music for us and we love it. he offered to bring us on its journey with brilliant textures and a superb sounding ep.

blm, or ben micklewright, has been increasingly on the radar of quality house heads in recent years with output for underground quality and secretsundaze nudging his profile slowly but surely. his stewardship of fear of flying alongside jay massive has resulted in the label, in similarly steady fashion, becoming a mustcheck for fans of the deeper end of house techno who are seeking something that sidesteps trends.blm is at his best when turning in moody, hypnotic and robust house cuts imbued with a distinct uk stylings and that is exactly what he does on *easy knocking* while also turning in electroid tones on opening cut, *paris beatdown*. the result is a classic sounding 4-track ep that has picked up support from efdemin, hackman, djulz, citizen and mosca.

young austrian label schonbrunner perlen team up with denis yashin for a brand new ep featuring remixes from echonomist and zanshin. the schonbrunner perlen label launched earlier this year, spawned from the local austrian electronic music scene that arose from viennas fifth district of the same name. focused on releasing quality electronic music with little regard for musical genre, the label, headed by ken hayakawa, has already been picking up attention with its first two releases from oberst & buchner and hayakawa himself.

the transition from hip hop dj to dance music producer is not always an easy one. it is a path littered with countless fitted caps, baggy jeans, and backpacks. yet throne of blood s oneauff has walked this path and emerged unscathed. originally from north carolina, this long time brooklyn resident is no stranger to tob, having released two singles with production partner eamon harkin (mister saturday night/subway series) as well as remixes for populette, corinne (on the prowl), and the neurotic drum band (wurst music co.). though oneauff (known to the government as steve raney) has also been heard a couple solo releases including a digital-only single on buzzard gulch and a remix for cubic zirconia (dont cry recordings), the heavy heady ep is his most fully realized and developed. it s also among the most gorgeous records throne of blood has ever released.

a fresh addition to the moodmusic roster but a longtime veteran in the house-scene, alexander maier aka dj all*star from stuttgart is well known from his earlier releases on buzzin fly, exun and criminal records. he began his career playing underground techno in south of germany but over the years became more and more influenced by detroit and chicago house. you can hear these influences on sahara in both the rain and river version. deep and reduced grooves with enough soul and atmosphere, yet fully functional for the floor, sahara rain kicks in with a heavy bass sequence building a perfect platform to be followed by the synththeme which hit s the peak hour perfectly. i see some hands going up here already… sahara river starts more housey, building a classy, low-slung huge groove with perculating synths and almost tribal feel to the drums. the modulating synths lifts the track to new heights with a break of superbly layered twisted pads before the drums kick back in in full effect. as this would not be enough we asked our thrusted chicago connection and alexs buddy, mazi aka audio soul project to remix sahara rain. if you consider people who s been in the biz for some time mazi is one of the warriors of the sound, never choosing the easy way but thrustfully following his true way of house music. and house it is, classic but cleverly updated to 2008 with a twist of so-cal thrown in for good measure. bouncey and jacking is the words which comes into mind when hearing this, excellent work and a another bomb for the hot months to come

following two ep releases on delusions of grandeur the time felt right for thatmanmonkz to get working on his debut lp. the sheffield b-boy is no newcomer to production having been releasing music since the mid-noughties but has seen a definite rise in interest the last few years following essential releases on his own shadeleaf label as well as remixes and productions for the likes of classic, kolour ltd and kons startime. with his first musical love being hip hop its easy to understand how his approach to house turns out so refreshing.

the last 12 months have been a boon for fans of luke vibert, with the veteran cornishman delivering a killer acid album for hypercolour, and a slick, melodious set of disco-inspired jams under his kerrier district alias. here he returns to regular home planet mu with another typically entertaining set inspired by classic british electronic music. utilising his battery of vintage music-making machines, vibert giddily doffs a cap to early 90s intelligent techno, rave-era hardcore, bleep, chicago acid and braindance, occasionally veering off track via easy listening inspired future jazz, wagon christ style hip-hop head-nodders (the title track, which doffs a cap to a forgotten, mid-90s remix he did for ninja tune) and squidgy, synth-propelled mutant electrofunk.

its all too easy for nostalgia to tip into something negative. at its best its a celebration of the best the past has to offer while putting it into a contemporary context, at its worst its moaning that things arent as good as they used to be. hercules & love affair have always been firmly in the first category. main man andy butler takes classic house and disco sounds and uses them to craft dance music that has one foot in the past, the other cutting a rug on dancefloors right now. its a well-judged and expertly executed balance.

for over a decade mark grusane & mike cole have been a vast music resource for djs, producers, collectors, rare music compilers, and specialty stores around the world. they started individually, each with their love of music. they traded and sold music with those -in the know- for years. in 2004 mark & mike focused their energies into founding mr. peabody records. the business plan and mission was to become a world class resource for all genres of obscure music. until now, their focus has been growing the shop. but the soul of mr. peabody records does not reside in the bricks and mortar the store, or even in the bins of records themselves. the real genius lies in mark & mikes unique ear for music.

180g vinyl! the summer of 2008, the echo inspectors are touring germany. one of their stops lands them in koln, after getting their fix of record shopping at kompakt they would meet up at a local bar with pawas who just remixed their latest record. joining the guys for a mid afternoon beer would be local producer and friend of pawas, adam kroll. fast forward to 2020 and adam would reappear on the radar as adam k.roll with a fresh new dub sound, completely different to the minimal techno records of the mid 2000s. this fresh take on dub would capture the interest of the echo inspectors. many dms later would lead to adam producing five fresh tunes for primary colours. trying to describe adams music is not easy. adam seamlessly blends the sounds of dub techno, ambience, electronica, jamaican dub and an infusion of summer island sounds. primary colours has the honour of re-releasing one of their favourite adam k.roll tunes, into the ocean, initially released digitally on adams on bandcamp page, into the ocean has been reborn on wax. we loved it so much that we got the echo inspectors to remix it into a formidable dub techno groover. kick back, sip on a fine whiskey, light a little number and immerse your aural senses to the sounds of the final call.

this is the debut release on noir music from brazilian k.a.l.i.l. we have been working quite some time to perfect this first release from him on the label and give it the edge needed to stand out. after tons of road-testing and going back and forth with production ideas i am now happy to have 2 perfect tracks ready from k.a.l.i.l. that really showcase his super solid techno sound and production flair. “involved” (co-produced with any mello) is a quite simple trip with any’s spoken word in center of industrial elements wobling it and out. this track works really well in the clubs because of its on point minimalism, the high intensity stacatto synths and the catchy vocal line from any. it’s not easy to do big tracks without big basslines – but that’s what k.a.l.i.l. and any mello truely achieved with this one. “revolved” is a track i signed already last year and since then k.a.l.i.l. has been perfecting everything about the track from small details to bigger arrangement improvements. this track has that big bassline that sits right in your face. it also has the right build for those peaktime moments in the clubs. i have been playing “revolved” a lot over the past months and people go crazy for those big bass drops. we are honored to have another great producer join the noir music family and proud to have another belter of a release ready for you.

next up on francis harris exceptional imprint scissor & thread comes a collaboration with american producer, dj aakmael. aakmael has built a reputation for some of the deepest, rawest house music sounds coming out of the states, releasing well-received tracks on the likes of freerange records, release sustain, kolour dogmatik and ndatl. returning to scissor & thread, aakmael and label boss harris cook up an intoxicating vibe across this 5 track ep. each shares a track and work together on the fifth, while also remixing each others solo cuts. first up aakmaels deep muzik- a quintessential nod to its self-proclaimed mission statement. skittering drums, a shuffling groove, deep keys, and chords make up this essential opener. franks (aka francis harris) all that light mix shows another side, finding pockets of space and developing the fizzing percussion to produce an equally affecting piece of dancefloor bliss. sharing production duties from the outset on mercy of means, the guys slip into an easy mid-tempo groove with plenty of depth - the rhythm rolls along and offers the perfect basis for some sublime melodic touches. franks part song also hones in on the subtle deep grooves. bumping, slightly filtered and saturated drums provide the main body, with beautiful washes and keys finding their way through, aakmaels remix beefs up the groove somewhat, making the snares snap harder and kick hit a little stronger, but the essence of the tracks melodic atmosphere remains perfectly in place.

arkvs are well known faces to us and have been shifting gears throughout 2017. this year will be no different as they deliver yet again with “texture ep”. four easy going techno tracks that bring in the vibes just right along with some spacey synths.

next cocoon floor bomb! cocoon recordings is back with a bang after the winter break, cranking up the pressure once again. what s more, we re seriously pleased that we ve managed to land johannes volk for the new season. johannes has been making us smile with his productions for more than 12 years and considering his 2006 debut appeared on jeff mills axis label, it s easy to guess which direction his cocoon release is going. there are no dreamy minimal sounds or deep house trips this time round, instead you ll find headstrong techno pumping out of the speakers. tears & walls drives forward relentlessly with its meaty kick and metallic open hi-hats setting the pace. energetic and demanding throughout, johannes volk certainly takes no prisoners! -a little story about time and space- follows in its footsteps although the mood here is notably more detroit, taking us back to productions on cult labels like red planet, metroplex or the axis records sound. volk layers the track with more prominent harmonies and hypnotic arpeggios, giving it a subtle yet highly effective trance touch. the warm analog strings in the middle section underline this emotional impact and make a little story about time and space a guaranteed sunrise song for the upcoming spring and summer season, heartwarming and dance floor friendly in equal measures!

weve been big fans of general ludd from the start and are delighted to finally release something from them. these three tracks were made specifically to be played live during their panorama bar debut and it s pretty easy to imagine them rocking the joint! superb dark and trippy groovers destined to go straight in the bag of craig richards and ricardo.

pmr va002 is the 6th vinyl printed by péché mignon records. as it’s predecessor, the first various artists, the four tracks incorporating the ep are produced by pmr producers and guests. easy morph and wlderz have renewed their involvement on this second edition of péché mignon’s various artist series and have been joined by two new guests : the young producer soul edifice, member of «acid avengers» and founder of the musical group «vernacular orchestra» and a guest star, madben, major member of astropolis and co founder of the duet «trunkline».

melchior sultana has not been short of labels to release on over the past few years, from deepartsounds and three fingers musique to minuendo and 12records, but here he can be found inaugurating the profound sound label with some of his trademark deep house tones. -feel this- is a shimmering, nocturnal groover with mystery to match its subtle funkiness, while the live edit of -give it to the moon- has an easier vibe about it with its lingering, warm pads and breezy swing. -treasures- shakes things up with a jazz funk twist, letting effervescent instrumentation flirt around the crooked house beat with stunning results and then the slow, sensual original version of -give it to the moon- cradles the remaining run time of the ep in a downtempo haze of easy beats and stirring vocals.

mood to move ep is a six-part musical retrospect into the work of veteran japanese house producer takecha, the little-known artist has been sporadically releasing analogue house on his own gwm imprint since the mid-90s, however trouble maker had only recently discovered his works and were dying to hear more. the music he sent was far too good to remain unheard, so we twisted the little-known maestro’s arm and managed to grab a selection of six unreleased and never before heard cuts for your audio pleasure. created between 1995-2000, these musical gems were left dormant on dat tapes in takechas basement - until now! with classic house being the flavour throughout, the high-quality production and deeply-resonant synth lines of each track leave an imprint that’s hard to forget. if this is your first time hearing takecha you certainly won’t be disappointed., released on 12 inch vinyl , shrinked wrapped

following the release of synkro aka joe mcbride collection of his formative early works earlier this year, apollo recordings is proud to present a brand new ep that draws on the rich heritage of library music. despite having come up during the dubstep era mcbrides music has always resisted easy classification - hand in hand sees him shift his musical focus in a yet more cinematic direction. mcbride explains: the record was inspired and influenced by my love of electronic 80s uk library records like the chappell av series, bruton, soundstage & de wolfe music library. theres a lot of synth work that carries on from my album using my trusted juno-6 / sh101 / jx8p combo with the addition of drum samples via an old akai s2800 i purchased recently. most sounds ive made from scratch on hardware based on sounds used in the library records i mentioned above along with a few cheeky samples.- synkro s signature expansive atmospherics are still very much present, but now they have been burnished by soaring synth pads and pulsing drum tracks that call to mind the haunted melancholy of john carpenter or contemporary such as legowelt or andy stott. rhythmically hand in hand sees mcbride moving somewhat away from his usual off kilter programming inspired by 2-step and garage, embracing the steady pulse of 4:4 which turns out to be an effortless fit.

hot creations revive chicago’s ghetto house scene with pioneer dj funk and german producer rydim who deliver the pumping “ghetto booty”. a fitting addition to the release, miami’s jesse perez is on hand with solid remix.
the title track is a real throwback to the era of ghetto house with it’s straight up, stripped beats. rydim explains “this project is a dream for me! dj funk has always been my greatest hero in all things chicago. doing “ghetto booty” with charles was such a fantastic opportunity to bring all these energetic, uptempo chicago vibes to today’s dancefloors. it’s a bouncing, killer of a track! the other “easy as that” is more of a dj tool. it’s the result of my latest drum computer, swinging like only these little machines can.”
rydim has been stirring up dance floors and releasing records under a variety of pseudonyms since 2002. since his rydim alias began in 2013, he has delivered releases for an enviable roster of labels including hot creations, tsuba and pets recordings and his tours have included the electronic scene’s most prestigious clubs.
mr. nice guy records label owner jesse perez has released on labels like hot creations, i’m a house gangster, bpitch control and eats everything’s edible. his music always has a tongue in cheek charm and this latest remix is no exception, as he brings a heavy dose of funk and swing into the mix.

ambient shoegaze duo aris kindt launch the new kingdoms imprint with their second album, swann and odette. picking up where their first record (2015Æs floods) leaves off, swann and odette is an evolutionary leap forward for the duo. the sonic palette is deeper, the grooves more sparse and the melodies are given more room to seep deep within a mix so expansive it feels almost tactile. this is heady, opulent stuff. the album is immaculately produced and cunningly arranged to sidestep easy classification while not sacrificing accessibility and authentic feeling. aris kindt is the collaborative project of gabe hedrick and francis harris (scissor and thread). harris has previously released the albums leland (2012) and minutes of sleep (2014), both of which have been lauded ôfor (their) extensive use of live instruments, a contrasting feature to his work done beforeö (last.fm, 2016). building on this approach, hedrick adds his own sonic signature in effects-laden layers of electric guitar and modular synthesizer. collectively, the album swells and reverberates to create a seamless interplay of synths and instrumentation cast loose from their origins and awash in oceanic delay.

mick has been active in the seedier corners of electronic music for more than 30 years, first immersing himself in the world of hi-nrg and new wave before embracing the house, techno, acid and electro explosion of the late 1980s. aligned with dj hell in the 90s and more recently the intergalactic fm crew, hes the quintessential selector. a life spent digging in the undergrowth for deviant dance music has given him the edge that makes a truly gifted spinner, without riding on hype or studio productions. however, mick isnt adverse to the odd outing on vinyl, having previously appeared on international dj gigolos both solo and as the kinky lovers with sometime partner isabella venis, but these moments are few and far between. for this release on arma, mick has given us two edits that speak to his distinctive style as a dj the original tracks are cult choices re-moulded into deadly, subversive club weapons. the brooding darkwave of himmelfahrt 89 is enough to turn the most indifferent bar crowd into swaying, baying denizens of the night, while stay silent pummels out a relentless electro motif that teeters on the edge of destruction for 11 thrilling minutes. these arent crowd-pleasing dj tools, and neither are they slick and easy edits of obvious classics. this is a peek into the inner workings of a man with decades of experience working masses of flesh into a sweaty fever pitch using sounds youve never heard before. the mastering on micks edits was undertaken by none other than dutch electro legend rude 66, while the striking artwork on the sleeve sees arma reach out for the first time to french artist judex. the nerve-shredding, broken op-art assault was originally found in a book published by cult illustrator sam rictus.

“good as i been to you” from 1992 is an album with modest ambitions. recorded at his malibu home in his garage studio, it is filled with traditional folk songs, bluegrass standards & other covers. there isn’t an original composition in sight, still its an intimate portrait of a legendary musician.

what happens when a house-music icon takes a small, talented bunch of musicians and mixes it with a savory blend of jazz, funk, dance, and soul music? you get a hearty serving of e.o.l. soulfrito, who make their single debut with upright love on vega records. e.o.l. soulfrito, led by musical director and conductor louie vega, is the condensed version of vega’s elements of life live-band project, which over its tenure has released three albums, won a grammy award in 2006 for best remixed recording, non-classical (curtis mayfield, superfly (louie vega eol mix), and performed for a globally-televised audience during the 2007 superbowl pre-game show. e.o.l. soulfrito’s name is a play on the popular latin-caribbean seasoning sofrito, which serves as a nod to vega’s own puerto rican heritage. earlier this year, the band played their first show at gramps in wynwood, miami during miami music week. upright love embodies the organic energy of e.o.l. soulfrito’s live performances. with a runtime of more than ten and a half minutes, it’s a steady groover that slowly blossoms into a blissful symphony of sprightly chords, jazzy bass, crisp percussion, pattering tambourine courtesy of kat ayala, and cindy mizelle’s vocal ad-lib serenades. easygoing yet refined, the single plays out like a summer afternoon jam session between vega and his friends: axel tosca on fender rhodes & synth upright bass, josh milan on synth jazz guitar & synth percussion. start swaying those hips and let the rhythm carry you into the sunset. i wanted to create a more condensed band, since the elements of life band has ten members, it’s always been a little difficult to do smaller venues. i also wanted to create music inspired by groups and artists like war, cymande, johnny hammond, and herbie hancock’s headhunters, but with the vega e.o.l. twist and style. i then created e.o.l. soulfrito with my studio musicians and rhythm section of elements of life and nuyorican soul. i want to take this band and perform in festivals and venues like the blue note, jazz café, ronnie scots, and bb kings. e.o.l. soulfrito will bring you future grooves with a tinge of the musical landscape from our rich past, and yes, there will be experimentation get ready for it.

moscow based multi-talent impish has been steadily honing his skills working through labels such as program, c.i.a. and his own fast rising occulti music imprint. it’s that last label that saw him release the critically acclaimed “silence” lp back in 2016. fast forward to the autumn of 2017 and a new album project the “hush” lp is set for release through all quality physical electronic music outlets around the world. being the perfectionist that he is, impish continues to impress working on crystal clear music productions where impeccable drum work is combined with organic touches and progressions.
the second “hush” lp sampler features three cuts of the album. first up the well respected irish drum & bass producer zero t takes up remix duties for “solid”, turning the stripped back original stepper into a wavey hard hitter with the remixer’s sound plastered all over. continuing with “let me” featuring uk based vocalist kate wild things heat up quickly where soaring bass sounds complimented by soulful vocals and tech-like stabs make for an intense drum & bass experience. last but not least we find the original mix for “solid” featuring fellow moscow based vocalist julia marks. it’s an easy listening, thoughtful piece of drum & bass with driving beats for the dance floor but harmonies for the mind and soul.

mister mellow moves further away from the synthesizer-heavy sounds of the recent washed out releases and more band-driven sound of his work on iconic labels sub pop in america, and domino in europe. on mister mellow, greene draws from the experimental collage techniques of musique concrète and plunderphonics artists such as the residents. combining styles as diverse as free jazz, house, hip-hop and psych together with interlude-esque voiceover samples, often pulled from anonymous youtube vlogs, he creates a busy, chaotic, and caricaturish mix that mirrors the claustrophobic, hyper-stimulated psyche so familiar to young adults. as he continues to carve out his innovative sonic identity, influenced by the world around him but unafraid to buck trends, it’s fitting that greene has partnered with legendary hip hop label stones throw records, long a home for beat-loving musical rebels. his approach to releasing music is every bit as individual, too: in an environment where compiling singles into an album format or working with a single video director are the norm, greene has chosen to commission eleven different artists to bring the visual aspect of his fully-realised album project to life. on mister mellow, washed out steers clear of emotion to empathise with the minutiae of the world around him. ive been much less interested in sentimentality and emotion for the past couple of years, says greene, in some ways, i think its a reaction against getting older and having more responsibilities. maybe i’m just nostalgic for a time in my life where i could just relax and block out the world for a moment. though mister mellow is an intensely personal album, its ideas and observations speak to the lived experience of so many young adults, an experience that we come to see as both funny and sad.
