The transition from hip hop dj to dance music producer is not always an easy one. It is a path littered with countless fitted caps, baggy jeans, and backpacks. Yet Throne of Blood s Oneauff has walked this path and emerged unscathed. Originally from North Carolina, this long time Brooklyn resident is no stranger to TOB, having released two singles with production partner Eamon Harkin (Mister Saturday Night/Subway Series) as well as remixes for Populette, Corinne (On The Prowl), and the Neurotic Drum Band (Wurst Music Co.). Though Oneauff (known to the government as Steve Raney) has also been heard a couple solo releases including a digital-only single on Buzzard Gulch and a remix for Cubic Zirconia (Dont Cry Recordings), the Heavy Heady EP is his most fully realized and developed. It s also among the most gorgeous records Throne of Blood has ever released.

Mixed to perfection by Beg To Differ/Mood Music honcho Nick Chacona, it couldn't sound much better: lush, melodic and unafraid to aim for the heart as well as the hips. That said, this one has been a secret weapon in our sets for months now and generated loads of interest when Bicep featured it in their set on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space radio show… The title track comes backed by a brilliant refix courtesy of Tuff City Kids, also known as Gerd Janson (Running Back) and Phillip Lauer (Arto Mwambe), that channels the lush pop vibe of the original and warps things in a 80's-era house workout complete with synth strings, guitars and a brand new groove. Not content with just one remix, Tuff City Kids returned with a second remix of "Heavy Heady" which we're making available as a digital exclusive track. Their "Running Up That Bill Remix" is darker, tougher, and aimed firmly at dancefloor action. On the flip comes "Knits," a driving bit of discofied house music that will catch the ears of anybody who's been paying attention to Norwegian producers like Todd Terje and Lindstrom. Built around an infectious organ stab, the track grows and grows, finally breaking down in a wash of emotive synths and bubbling bass. Nick Chacona's remix drives the bass hard, turning "Knits" into a bouncey percussive house stomper.
