for the ninth instalment of the konstrukt series it is samuel van dijk’s moniker mohlao that graces the spot with a five track minimalistic exploration of the deep electronic realm. targeting the fiction of a journey through metropolitan areas during nightfall, mohlao’s sound gives us comfort and stimulates our dream-state awareness. the environments that appear are real, yet we are more than passive observers.
as we reach our 30th release on the label, animal farm is proud to present stephanie sykes’ first solo ep since 2016’s effort on prodigal son. those two years have seen her presence in the techno scene explode, with a flurry of appearances across europe - our own animal farm night in glasgow among them + residencies at tbilisi’s khidi and the infamous after hours jaded crew in london, corsica studios.
after the initial label launch in 2016, desroi has been working insistently. debuting on labels such as henning baer’s manhigh or shifted’s avian, the young artist has worked his name into the scene. this time, desroi returns to his own imprint with “eutheria”. with an unadorned focus on percussive drive and rugged atmosphere all three tracks invite to be played out in a dark but hypnotizing warehouse rave. his ability to shape-shift from experimental sonic explorations right up to pure and straight-forward techno cuts reiterates that desroi is someone to keep an eye on.
“pillar” is the second release to come from london based duo, abstract man, uniting three original tracks plus one remix from pioneering french producer, von grall. signifying the second stage of the pair’s studio time, “pillar” delves further into a shared love for rhythmic, textured techno and dynamic grooves.
farrago created a name for himself in this short time taking back the real roots of techno and rave and putting them in a new context... we said new, not different. this is his 3rd record on the label, and this time he goes beyond the idea of reminiscing the past, “hard light” shows how the rave can be alive in everyone of us, and absolutely not changing the formula he gives us this beautiful feeling of being back in the past, while you dig in a record shop and you find something that hits you, in our past was that record that gave us memories. in this case the work of this record is almost double, the record itself reminisces the past, but gives good hope for the future of genuine rave music without compromises.
we are glad to introduce this release by it. ivan iusco, the artist behind the it moniker, has been running minus habens records since 1992. its disturbance sublabel has been responsible for releasing forward thinking techno and experimental releases from a range of well known artist such as marco repetto, aphex twin, speedy j and atom heart among others. here we present three tracks that have previously been released on his era vulgaris cd album. the ep ranges from techno to more abstract broken beats on the flip side, displaying the versatility of it as a producer and encompassing the sound of the first years of disturbance.
assembler code - we’ve felt this one coming for a minute now. after an unstoppable run of releases along side jensen interceptor on labels such as cultivated electronics, private persons & boysnoize records, ac is finally flying solo with this 4 track electro assault masterpiece “mental escape”.
new yorker electronic producer dj spider is back on itay’s out-er with a muggy, abstract techno release “human erosion field ep”, similarly to its debut “v ep”, released in september 2017 and produced in featuring with his longtime friend phil moffa.
italian label out-er presents its twenty-sixth release continuing to explore the diverse musical path between house, techno and experimental electronic - which appears in most cases on out-er’s sub-label pregnant void. “human erosion field ep” otherworldly showcases both a radiant take on electronic as well as gloomy and wild-eyed pieces, an aesthetic approach for which dj spider has been most known in the scene. overlooking to the style of the tracks, the release does contain a sinister mood and a dense, solid sense of groove overall, a typical recurring feature of the producer’s previous outputs.
sold out on pre-sale 100 copies only. comes on blue transparent vinyl. mastered by helmut erler at dubplates & mastering, berlin. the next releases on eotrax will round off a busy 2018 for the label and set out an exciting proposition for a future way of working and releasing music. in what will be an ongoing, curated collaboration series artists will be invited to make work together for the label, without restrictions on genre, style or aesthetics. an open environment of collaboration and experimentation which will then be released by the label. to launch this series label head eomac teams up with four different artists over four slabs of vinyl, to be released sequentially over four months. the collaborations are improvised and composed, wild and emotive, unexpected and expected and all of them resulting in music that would never have been made by either artist individually. first up is a two-tracker from techno powerhouse and self confessed noisician paula temple and eomac. on the a-side the synth heavy gestirn takes inspiration from autechres classic eutow, driving forward with a broken beat while celestial melodic lines reach skyward to unknown realms. the b-side introduces a wilder beast, with the ferocious, pummeling techno of kralle

the latest release on microcastle welcomes brian cid back to the label for a brand new ep. the us artist last appeared on the canadian imprint a year ago with his well received belles du shaman ep. three diverse and uniquely organic productions along with a remix from eagles & butterflies saw the release reach 1 in beatport s electronica and progressive house charts, while placing #4 in their overall top 100. a subsequent release on manjumasi, along with a stunning ep on his endangered imprint saw brian s music played and supported by adriatique, tale of us, lee burridge, john digweed, henry saiz, guy j, hernan cattaneo and joris voorn. his theory of light project with holmar filipsson from thugfucker debuted with two remixes for cityfox while a solo ep is due on the label later this year. now making his much anticipated return to microcastle brian presents his three track artist showcase pluto, alongside a remix from marvin & guy.
the next one is signed by one of my contemporary idols. his zero-f*cks-giving attitude and his aim to move forward make ascion the perfect artist to keep telling this story which two years ago was started to write. it could have been nineteen ninety two or today. it could be acid, techno-trance or even ardcore (you know the score). echoes from belgian new beat and uk’s intelligent dance music resound all along it. call it how you want and no matter when or where. this rave instrument is going to fill many epic warehouse moments. there is no way to escape: welcome to your finest nightmare. - hector oaks, september mmxviii

a coming together of some serious house music legends. boys own don terry farley teams up with kevin swain of d.o.p. for a peak-time acid anthem memory child. label boss posthuman strips it back for a sheffield bleep techno vibe remix, while kirk degiorgio rebuilds the track with modular acid and epic piano chords into a blissful, sunshine anthem. terry and kevin bring it all back with the more chilled acid tool mix to complete the ep.
it s been a while since rampa aimed for collective affection, providing -the touch-. his current -sunday- ep, counting as the keinemusik catalogue number km045, somehow continues this sort of sonic caress.
nothing more than a diary filled with sound fragments that reveal a soundtrack for a surreal story. the emerald ep is a journey lived by a time traveler through eerie ambientscapes, started from the vintage sci-fi frenzy from the late 50s’ immortalized on side a with romeo poirier’s dysfunctional robotic bleeps, continued with boris hegenbart & david moss’ distorted broadcast tape and ended in christopher james chaplin’s atmosphere created by an analog choir.
the artist duo “bondi“ is celebrated by a growing international fan community. jam sessions, different genres and a colourful life are the sources of inspiration for both musicians. “mercury“ is playfully melodical and convinces with profound synth chords. in “land of the blind“, the melodical elements and emphasized vocals, which mark the climax of the track, sound impressive. see you on the next festival stage!
part 4 of 5 to be released over the coming couple of months. originally released on the phono label in 1995/96 the parts series from matthew herbert are a much loved collection of house tracks that sound just as original and bold today as they did when they were first released. this series of 12-s were part of an early wave of exploratory dance music that paved the way for the deep house that still works its magic on dance-floors in 2018 some 25 years later. the mix of herbert s playfulness alongside expertly grooving production and unusual sounds makes this unique collection of work. the odd few tracks aside this is the first time that these releases have ever been repressed. all newly remastered for this reissue series, the releases include stone cold club classics such as deeper , take me back , resident , people that make the music and see you on monday .
(transparent vinyl in custom transparent sleeve) belgian up-and-coming, milo spykers, has minted the second release for amelie lens imprint, lenske. with contributions from lens, farrago, and kobosil, lenske001 has already made a severe dent in the techno scene. milo spykers infinite promises to puncture the auditory surface with equal precision.
(incl. jp enfant remix) legendary dj/producer and long-time friend of the mary go wild family joel mull returns to our label with 3 mesmerizing tracks. the title track sounding like the growling of a beast. roundabout is a world of its own and syncopate pulling you into the unexplored depths of the dark and deep unknown.
‘neverending story’ opens with ‘a dimension reflected’ and its introductory mixture of keys and beats. the beat is built upon piece by piece, while slippery synths fill in the upper registers. the second track, ‘planet texture’, opens with a blossoming pad which is soon joined by a steady kick and some bouncing synths. before long an adventurous bassline joins in and puts the track into full groove mode. there’s a twinkling synth floating above it all, sometimes present, sometimes not, making you wonder if you’re really hearing it at all. next up is the first track on the b-side, ‘old problems’. filled with little samples and microsounds, the track uses its beat to push through heady and sometimes disorientating array of colours that swirl across the track. a wide synth enters affairs a third of the way in and helps push the track out onto the dancefloor. ‘neverending story’ comes next, featuring a skittering beat and atmospherics that seem to come from far away. a low bassline pops in and out of the track here and there, while pondersome some keys complete the mood. the ep closes with ‘algorithm’, another scrambled, unpredictable track. the track opens with a rainbow of keys and synths, darting between your ears in their affected manner. an almost glitchy ambient track, it brings to a calm close a fantastic release.
sub club and nautilus rising present our fifth release, courtesy of love over entropy. four tracks tried and tested on our dance floor at 22 jamaica street by our beloved saturday night residents. influenced by train journeys, passing landscapes, hiking and over 20 years experience in the studio.
inits music has the rare quality of transforming bleakness into a soothing experience. in the duos new ep, wildcard, this mechanism is more intense than ever. and that might be because of the particular circumstances that surrounded its inception. two years ago, nadia dalo and benedikt frey decided to move from darmstadt to berlin. adjusting to a rough area of a big city when coming from a quiet town necessarily brings a change of perspective. for nadia and benedikt, that meant experiencing the city life as outsiders while trying to figure out what they wanted from it.wildcard is the sonic result of this process, and proof that changes always bring growth. recorded in their new home studio during winter, the six tracks on the ep are as haunting as their previous lp for hivern, but with a rawer approach and enhanced power. take cover and solver, an approximation to the kind of moody psych-techno they display in their live-shows and two of the most dance floor oriented tracks init have recorded to date. but its the title track which best expresses the mindset of this work. with its skeletal rattle and undulating synths, wildcard feels as desolate as a berlin street in a winter night, but possesses the kind of focus that turns uncertainty into hope. in a similar way, cuts such as copycat or half baked perfectly capture the sort of estrangement -daunting yet hopeful- that comes when moving into a new place, with its slow tempos mirroring the cautious pace of a foreigner and the intoxicated atmospheres calmly distilling the essence of a new environment. nadia and benedikt describe this new habitat as small kids on big bikes, eating dry instant noodles, playing with whats to find on the streets, static aircraft traffic closely over our heads and constant running engines. listening to the music that arose from it, its obvious that, once again, they&# 39,ve been able to overturn apparently hostile elements into a place were youd want to stay forever
transmission incoming from mr. incognitos secret lab. rat life presents eight psycho acoustic models made by the low key east german producer. you probably never heard of him, but he is doing this thing since half an eternity. rather than playing a lot of shows he focuses on studying the craft of electronic sound manipulation and what else can be said that: he is on top of his game! he shows us that it is still possible to create sonic structures that are beyond the usual by just using classic devices such as the tr 808 rhythm composer and a tb 303 monophonic synthesizer
the maghreban returns to r&s for a new single following his dark debut album 01deas, perhaps with an icier sound. monster vip is a reworking of a double time rap track from the maghrebans strange u side project he added breaks and rolled it out. end level bosses lurk. beware of the monster. rave navel-gazing back to his roots: his first ever release was a jungle 12inch in 1994. early support from ben ufo. on the flip, batu (timedance/xl) offers up crisp percussion and ominous sound design in his energetic 140 remix of album opener eddies. then the ep is closes out with carpet bombing, the title of which references the producer adding more and more notes to the main percussive motif as it builds and builds.
circle of live is a brand new, live act only event series concept and record label curated by sebastian mullaert to honour the values of spontaneity and improvisation. for the inaugural release on the new circle of live imprint, sebastian mullaert presents a joint ep with long time collaborator eitan reiter. the duo previously met on the 2014 album reflections of nothingness, (mule musiq) borne out of a week long jam spent together at sebastians tranquil rostanga studio. following the albums release, they arranged two live shows at ozora festival in hungary.
channeling that classic playful braindance feel of early afx, u-ziq and fellow acid-connoissuer luke vibert, pearl river sound (real name roberto semeraro) has quietly builded up his own profile in the last 5 years with releases on r&s recordss own meda fury, further records, seagrave and x-kalay. not another average idm/breakbeat throwback tough: here prs delivers train with no name, a 6-tracker of razor-like rephlexian science, taking inspiration from his ambivalent work with laptop & old hardware machines, yet, the magic lays down in arrangements and spaces, builded around jacking bassline swings and detuned, lush pads all melted together in powerful u-turn rhythms and genius sampling, from the moody opener elek41 to the demented vocals of cccc2 and mr continue or the straight-up acid of mono sequencer bass. occasional walls of white noise and distorted tones emerge in train 2, possibly his most tense track ever but also one that reveals new sonic solutions for a forthcoming full length that should see the light anytime next year on the label. sharing the same sensibility of fellow roman institutions like lory d or leo anibaldi to keep the acid legacy of the city alive, mixed up is proud to start a new beginning with this release. full sleeved and cut at 45.
after more than a decade of deep, expansive productions on labels such as detroit underground and cpu, annie hall arrives on musar for a record typically rich in texture and understated grooves. indebted to vintage electro and idm, halls music is no throwback, always looking forward and moving dancefloors in the most unexpected ways.
the fourth release of another earth, a small dutch vinyl only label with limited 300 pressings, has finally arrived. the a side is proper techno created by dave simon. a1 in acid we trust is a peak time acid techno track and a2 path of ability has a warm detroit feel. the b side by anders ilar together with john h is more obscure. deep weird acid techno that seems to come from another planet.
techno in the classic british tradition of surgeon, christian vogel, regis to name a few. simply put, beautiful, other-worldly, hypnotic, brilliantly functional. sam watson is virtually unknown outside the freerotation festival cognoscenti, where he is a resident, and his dj sets are legendary. this ep for third ear marks the start of a concerted effort by sam to put his name out there by releasing his tracks. chec

deep listening, spatial imagery and floating introspection evoked by genres of ambient and electronica to enhance the immersive journey with rhythms of dub, bits of breakbeats plus erratic frequency rumbles and machine noises.
unconformist is not conforming to some norm or socially approved pattern of behavior or thought. here they come with heavily stomping techno cuts, with two relentless remixers : joton well known for his hypnotical pounding techno, and endlec for raw hitting and disorientating strength

ahus debut album from 2017, nord dream, was something of an overlooked gem from that year, but its musical palette of dubwise techno and ambient sounds caught the ears and enthusiasm of many. danny clancy was one such admirer, and in turn brings ahus sophisticated sounds to his dichotomy records label for the ‘atlas ep.

le matin, always rare and uncategorised, following the reissue of his early synthwavepop tunes on poussiere depoque and a track on the good lena wilikens dekmantel selectors 005 comp, this new ep on lost dogs ent. let you hear some of his last works. expect an ultra-cold-minimal-electro riddim, a less-mental-nearly-good-for-the-dancefloor tune with depitched haunted r&b vocals, an analog and bassy arpeggio ride on the flip side, oh my god! this is the peak-time-for-weirdo-nearly-techno tune, a blast, only for craziest djs that like broken-frustrated-uncomfortable dandefloors and to finish this well balanced 5 trackers: the are you depressed that much? its the 10th time youre listening to this ost of a dying world, this wont get any better but at least this is good music! tune. le matin is a good kept secret that prefer to take care of his kids than to travel the world of nightclubbing with drunk teens (ok thats how it is in france, that looks better in some other countries), but sometime you can hear his music on decks of some wise people and djs like call super, lena wilikens, house of traps, charles drakeford, jon k, bergsonist, body motion

elegant universe a full-length album by matthew hayes and joel trigg is a must listen for fans of the celestial jazz sound of ecm. their soft, seductive duets are incredibly inviting, in a way that seems to encompass and enliven the space around you. unsurprisingly, itd be sure to add warmth to cold winter commutes, and dull the edge of even the fiercest hangovers. the wintry downtime is a tour de force of the duos sense of restraint and the importance placed on individual sounds that swell together and drift apart with organic ease. on light through edinburgh leaves, the sounds themselves seem so three-dimensional, ringing out like ripples on a lake. its hard not to be captivated by such beautifully formed music.

fracture has always tried to support upcoming and interesting newcomers, people they believe in. chevel is one of them, and in 2014 came his first ep for fracture under his alias signalweiss. he returns now for round two. in 4 years, he has managed to establish himself as a prolific and talented artist with a steady stream of records on labels such as stroboscopic artefacts. chevel is an artist who likes to mix things up, always striking an interesting balance between experimentation and more dance floor oriented tunes. with -feelings- and -forbona-, he creates quite abstract but still effective dance music. it is for the club, but it is not mindless bangers. in the hands of pablo mateo, -forbona- turns into a more mental piece of techno. all in all, this new fracture release provides great tools for the smarter selectors out there.

planet e are proud to present aw18 collection, a 3 track ep from british producer tom flynn. drawing upon a broad and learned musical understanding, aw18 collection fuses disparate strands from the worlds of fashion, club culture and sound design to forge a highly atmospheric, singular release. packard, the title of which is inspired by parties in the historic detroit power plant of the same name, establishes an unrelenting energy from the get go. a bouncing kick lays the foundations for rolling synths, unnerving vocal samples and delicate piano refrains to wander. anna is an indulgent nod to the catwalk, marching with intent amidst immersive chords and subtle melodies. the b side hosts a trippy cut full of interplanetary glitches and melancholic harmonies. drawing upon hints to the extraterrestrial, marx creates a dizzying swirl with glistening textures. carl craig was sold straight away: when tom sent me his demo of packard i knew i wanted to release it on planet e. the mix of looped electronics with soul of the piano brought me back to when i first heard the post-disco classic beyond the clouds. i can imagine the kids on the scene rockin hard to this.
