a triple lp entitled * from joy * by kyle hall. the title is derived from the idea of finding a way to live life in a state of presence, detaching oneself from the mental, self imposed narratives echoed by society s traditions and judgements. we as people tend to be at our most honest and present in our childhood, so in some ways from joy serves as a mechanism and reminder to return to one s youthful energetic state. the 8- track album, all produced before 2010, is a homage to where kyle lived at the time in his father s basement on the westside of detroit on joy rd.
• dj-kicks returns in 2016 another landmark edition.

• iconic detroit dj and producer moodymann is at the helm for his first ever multi-artist dj mix compilation. born kenny dixon jr., moodymann is a one-of-a-kind electronic music icon, hailing from, and wholly synonymous with the motor city. he is an outspoken, impossibly charismatic artist who has been putting a distinctive and soulful stamp on house and techno since the early 90s. melting together jazz, funk, soul, blues and rock in captivating ways, he is responsible for some of electronic musics most definitive tracks, eps and lps on labels like planet e, peacefrog and his own kdj and mahogani music imprints. as able to serve up the sweetest and most sensual sounds as he is the darkest and most depraved grooves, his own unique voice and stream of conscious musings infuse expertly sought-out samples for music that is decisively alive and authentic.

during these days where lo-fi analogue house productions seems to be the it thing, its time to dig out a release by one of the true pioneers of house music. not an outsider but one of the names thats been around forever and thats known for several timeless house classics.
anchored between the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s, when industrial music courted funk, when electro(nica) made a shy appearance and house was visceral and plaintive, also inspired by current r&b productions and futuristic hip-hop, tropics of love is a slow tempo record that shines like a steel sun and rings diabolically romantic.
the double 12 inch lp comes in gatefold sleeve with cd-copy of the full album included.
relative 017 features 4 unreleased house tracks by john swing. a solid 4 tracker bringing back the classic swing touch that s been influential to the labels peculiar sound. this is the first of a series of swings unreleased material. limited press.
vinalog’s new ep on relative delivers raging club music with 4 cuts balancing the uk and berlin sound with a masterful touch. the two mixes of “flashback” on the a side provide raw, nasty house with a punchy groove and luscious vocal samples. b side sees two variations of the same motif: “recall 97” has strong uk bass heavy influences with an acid touch and spanish-mumbling vocals, while “redub 97” is a more stripped down version of the latter able to deliver for the dance floor with a more broken-beat rhythmic pattern.
crosstown rebels assemble an a-star team of pioneers and legends for the next mammoth release on the label. touch your body comes courtesy of felix da housecat, jamie principle and vince lawrence aka the 312 with sublime remixes from moodymann.
the e.p kicks off with she can dance, a slow burning acid number that has elements of deep, grooving house from the detroit school. in fact, the second cut low control bares the influence of detroit too, with its murky, dubbed-out chords ala luke hess moving into a punchy bassline with minimal but functional drum patterns. proceedings get a bit more bouncy on the smoking hat, a quirky acid romp on the less daft side of ceephax, and the perfect soundtrack to accompany a feature-length documentary about.... a smoking hat. finishing up the e.p is fudge fingas remix of low control, the only man qualified to make an already deep as fuck track even deeper. theres been some on-point criticisms about a lot recent deep stuff getting lost in noodly jazz territory, but we are in no danger of that nonsense with fudge fingas at the controls: accomplished a musician he may be, hes never been one to lose the way, and this mix proves his deft and subtle remix talents. dabj done done it again, and hopefully this is the first in a long line of productions from vernon.
vinyl only! limited to 100 pieces! its house! – raw and dirty with a touch of jack! mr. adalberto provides three tr-909 driven trax, produced on real hardware for real people. the dance maniac ep reflects the mood of classic underground house music with elements of 90s ghetto house from chicago! nothing more nothing less - or have you already forgotten what you have danced to?....just house!

on this second remix 12 inch pbr streetgang deliver a wonderfully deep modern house groove, toby tobias delivers 2 mixes straight out of the 90s basement and glaswegian wunderkind barrientos offers a kind of sun-kissed gypsy woman style re-invention.
ltd splattered coloured vinyl pressing!
head of his debut lp, adventures of tazz, the torontobased producer drops a 4-track vinyl sampler of outstanding house music for londons tsuba imprint. after debuting on tsuba in 2011 with the superb underground and welcome to dub eps and having spent the previous year releasing two singles for jus ed s underground quality, tazz is already hotly tipped for his fresh outlook on house. the adventures of tazz lp sampler comprises four cuts from the forthcoming album that see the producer deliver synth heavy, emotive and raw vibes in a distinctly detroit influenced style.

new york, early 90s, the haydays of the new york and jersey clubhouse! with labels such as nugroove, nervous, freeze, strictly rhythm, henry street music taking all the spot light, there is jovonn working on a small but sensational catalogue of music that somehow gets overshadowed by the popular releases on the mentioned labels. the honest productions, jazzy melodies and playful vocals (rooted in gospel) were taking things into a more musical, more spiritual way, lacking gimmicks or dispensable samples. for the real diggers, the true lovers of house music jovonn always was a name to watch, a producer of some of their favorite ny house tracks, tracks that have a raw edge combined with a sincere human touch and pure underground house vibes
