since the inception of gregory vand and susan subtract’s electro-punk outfit high-functioning flesh in 2012, the band has proven to be one of the most singular acts in years, defying the genre tag of “classic” ebm, as the creativity and fresh perspective they bring to the stage and studio has been instrumental in carving out a modern audience for the genre – elevating hff into a category all their own. following their striking debut on dka records in 2014, high-functioning flesh delivered an exceptional step forward in their sound on their sophomore effort for dais records, the “definite structures” lp in 2015. since then, high-functioning flesh has toured extensively with label mates body of light and previewed their caustic shift to a more refined, hardened signature with their “human remains” single in 2016. we now find high-functioning flesh at their sharpest and most poised position to date within their newest album: “culture cut”

in the beginning of 1991 marius kuilenberg and maarten van der vleuten teamed up together and recorded two eeps for djax, *magic moments* and *...gives you central house*. marius being a dj with a great feeling for production and with a large collection of samples and maarten being a musician/technician with an own studio, turned out to be a good combination. after the two releases mentioned above, marius and maarten split up. marius focused on dj-ing only and maarten continued working as major malfunction on his own.

inspired by his dj residency at limelight, beginning in 1993 at the famed the new york venue, the wheels behind david sumners function project began turning. in 1996 the first wave of productions emerged, with his now classic debut on damon wilds synewave label.

long time colleagues david sumner (aka function) and ed davenport (aka inland) have teamed up to relaunch sumners esteemed imprint, infrastructure. the label has been lying dormant since 2006 when sumner focused his energies on sandwell district and relocated to berlin in 2007. they kick things off with a collaboration under the guise function/inland with this new ep, odeon/rhyl

jubilee for dystopian… not only the number 005 for the label, also 5 years of dystopian showcases around the world and a good working agency and label since 2012 – the dystopian guys want to say thank you with that special release. and what fits better to invite some long term guests to remix dystopian artists ?! first, we invited pär grindvik who played the second dystopian party ever in 2010 to remix the already wonderful >stone edge< by felix k. and what else to say, that one turned out into a tribal techno monster.second remixer is function – he played the every first dystopian event back in 2009 (you remember, as sandwell district live, ben klock, shed and rodhad).. so, this time it s our pleasure – and to get a good balance to the a-side, he delivered a groovy hypnotizing minimalistic tool.. you need to let i grow, but than this track getting you from behind :)

an original electronic disciple hailing from new york, sandwell districts david sumner a.k.a function presents his debut album *incubation* on ostgut ton. like the soundtrack to a suspenseful techno-thriller, or retro-futurist sci-fi tale, it is a modern sound journey heavy on imagery. over eight tracks we are guided through the varying moods and scenes of functions musical temperament. be it through writhing layered club tracks, soaring string-led atmospheres, or melodic pieces founded on classic electronic traditions, *incubation* marks a new level of maturity for the berlin-based producer.

we are very proud and honered to release this ep by function aka dave sumner from sandwell district. one of technos true underground heroes, function (dave sumner) has been djing and making music for over 15 years. hailing from new york, he was seduced by techno music when jeff mills held a residency (as well as his own first) at the limelight in the early 90s. dave started to produce music and from the mid-90s onwards, put out music on damon wilds synewave and his own infrastructure imprint. together with regis (karl o connor) he worked as portion reform, putting out uncompromising music on downwards and becoming the only non-birmingham producer to release on the label. in 2008 dave moved to berlin, still working with regis, and now silent servant (john mendez), put his focus on the acclaimed sandwell district imprint. obsessed is a supper powerfull floating track for the dancefloor, a typical function production. this ep also contains remixes from substance and scb aka scuba, both peak-time tracks.

conceptual drum n bass album by kos.mos.music, which has been prepared for several years and consists of tracks united in their unordinary commonness. in a word, the general genre of the album is drum n bass, but all the tracks and each in particular are a mixture of different electronic genres based on drum n bass and jungle rhythm. one can hear sounding of idm, ethnic patterns, feel a strong influence of psychedelic electronics and in patches even some techno.
the album is opened by the harsh reality by loucura & dailiv - a powerful halfstep based on kick and bass, hypnotizing pads and drones with putting in trance melody. further dynamics of the album varies from dancefloor rolling tracks by electrosoul system, liquitek, vortex involute to avant-garde dissident & marginal, deep liquid tracks by nclear, triple sky, nummix, basic maneuver, bop & electrosoul system collab and breakbeat/jungle track by pryzma. the album is closed by shamanic bass track by light monday.
the vinyl version contains exclusive track by m25 & first function with more predominant idm texture and includes a cd-copy of the full album.

the first clouded vision recordings release of 2017 comes from label owner matt walsh teaming up with stratowerx aka sam russo. the ep is completed with a remix from one of matt’s long-term studio partners, scott fraser, who makes a long awaited debut on the label. the three tracks were recorded over the course of 2016, with the two producers sending parts back and forth via email and the result sees a clear middle ground of minimalistic analogue electro and techno. scott’s surface pressure remix turns the first track “no function” into a dark drexciyan electro brooder, rounding off the ep very nicely indeed.
