venus volcanism ist die musikerin und elektronische künstlerin rena rasouli. sie präsentiert ihr erstes solo-mini-album -rizitiko- auf optimos unterlabel -weaponise your sound-, das traditionelle volkslieder ihrer heimatinsel kreta als grundlage für diese arbeit verwendet.

rizitiko entstand aus rasoulis these mit dem titel -die musikdarbietungen im traditionellen dialekt konzentrieren sich auf die heilfähigkeit des klangs-. die lieder wurden von folk-troubadours kreiert und gesungen. als rasouli diese werke erweiterte, kam er auf die idee, dass der melodische gebrauch der stimme die älteste therapieform in der menschlichen kultur ist. dieses primäre und rituelle material war mit elektronischen und natürlichen umgebungsgeräuschen verflochten. die resultierenden kompositionen drücken die allgegenwärtigen empfindungen und emotionen aus, die eine schlüsselrolle im heilungsprozess spielen, während sie eine intensive verbindung zum kollektiven unbewussten vermitteln. traditionell von männern gesungen, gibt es zahlreiche gründe zu der annahme, dass viele der songs ursprünglich von frauen kreiert wurden. sie mit weiblicher stimme zu singen, projiziert eine andere herangehensweise an die traditionelle wiedergabe - eine, die der eines schlaflieds näher kommt.

seite b beginnt mit venus gala , einem modernen funk-track, der in den sounds der 70er jahre verwurzelt ist und moog, gitarren, einen juno 60 und einen fender rhodes-jam miteinander verbindet. die ep endet mit „in everywhere“, einem von den 80ern inspirierten electro-funk-track mit korg vc-10 vocoder vocals.

während sich der strudel der zeit weiterdreht, kehrt das schweizer underground-vermächtnis „dan piu“ zu seinem heimatplaneten „childhood intelligence“ zurück. ein seltenes exemplar und artefakt, bekannt für seine zeitlose und intelligente soul-infundierte musik, erscheint mit seinem dritten soloalbum auf childhood. „the mystic mind“ 2x12 lp als trilogie, die fortsetzung von ‚tru time and ages‘ und ‚inside universe‘.
