hopeworks opened just under two years ago, in the heart of sheffields former industrial centre. this empty warehouse has since become the hedonistic epicentre of the citys vibrant all night clubbing scene as chief resident and director of hopeworks, lo shea has built the ethos of the space from the ground up. having hosted an enviable list of international guest artists as well as showcasing the best of tomorrows talent, hopeworks has become an essential melting pot for the cultural and musical future of a city whose electronic heritage has surpassed its industrial one. a platform to release the music inspired by the space and its loyal crowd, not to mention the artists who have contributed to its success, makes perfect sense. who better to take the helm of this debut voyage than lo shea himself… following his successful seaghdha series, liam continues to flesh out a distinctive sound that doesnt easily fit into genre divides, but which is informed and inspired by all those late nights. often functional, always perfectly weighted - his productions have - given the diverse & astonishing energy of the space that feeds them - gained support from djs and dancers the world over… this is 100% mixed in sheffield & believe us, hope, works.

here it is, the tenth and final chapter in the seaghdha story, as lo shea wraps up a monumental series with a special, limited 12 inch & cd compilation package. first up we get four more new tracks on the wax, its on is an atmospheric, driving house jam complete with melodic guitar effects, which ride the groove and combine with the devilishly deep low end to startling effect. got swagger strips things right back to the bone, a skeletal rhythm framework, those trademark atmospherics and rock solid low end. buchsheff sees us back in familiar lo shea territory, with a powerful warehouse rattler. finally to be sure brings it all home with a cinematic ambient piece. as if that wasnt enough we also have a hand-stamped cd comp, featuring those classic cuts from the earlier part of the series, which are now fetching serious change on the second hand market it is a great package, and a serious send off for what has been a hugely successful & widely supported musical endeavour.

the seventh instalment in lo sheas series of 10 vinyl only releases on seaghdha. you know by now how this goes - precision club workouts, which ricochet between uk flavoured jams, to clean cut techno & stripped down house. vasquez leads the charge here, less about the legendary captain of the soundfactory, and more the soundtrack to a drug deal gone bad in downtown miami. like her flails around a bowel troubling low end and crisp snare double act, piling on the pressure with an unrelenting groove and some deftly applied distortion. elsewhere 365247 is in more familiar lo shea / seaghdha territory, with some expertly manipulated, atmospheric sampling laid over a spare, shuffle-happy herbertesque workout. finally flash gives us a glimpse into sleepless basement, inhabited by addled humanoids, playing glass bottles.

100 years is a new label and venue set up by esteemed sheffield promoter, producer and studio engineer liam o shea. the first release features two tracks by him as loshea. both city steel and prang are energy driven, bass-rumbling techno bangers.

seaghdha have made a significant dent in the stripped down warehouse music world with the first two releases in their celtic numerals series. a tri continues the theme perfectly, offering up three more precision workouts for dark spaces pared down, atmospheric and totally absorbing grooves throughout! each release will be strictly limited to 300 copies, vinyl only. the series will run to ten releases in total, titled 1-10 in gaelic.

new bomb from west london don phil asher..... phash continues his raw fusion escapades with this recycled and well improved reggae groove made in a true restless soul spirit. together with uk singer shea soul and mc motet of the bugz crew, phil rocks the joints on this original brentford all stars sample and reboots it into the future of cyberspace. with nice punch bits like baby girl, im looking at the front door, motet slices it up and gives room for shea soul as she melts our hearts with her smooth vocal chords. and dubbed out of his mind, phil keeps going for an instrumental dub version where it (by way of the tape delay inferno) gets the true king tubby treatment.

releasing an album is a daunting task, especially in dance music. you got to keep it fresh and exciting from the very beginning until the last track, not sticking to one tempo, make tracks that work both at home and in the club and ultimately tell a story with your music. alexander lay-far knows a thing or two about this, having his debut album so many ways out back in 2013. the thing with lay-far and a big reason why we ve always had a soft spot for him is his way of incorporating a certain magic in the tracks that leaves you on an uplifting and optimistic note. therefore we re really excited to release his second album, how i communicate, on local talk. how i communicate is a two part vinyl release which we hope will come as a fresh breeze in these days where so much dance music simply lacks the actual musical aspect or the organic approach. like most producers and djs that are influenced by soul, disco, jazz and the blacker side of electronic dance music its all about the actual tune . listening (or dancing) through this album we hope you ll find your special tune (or tunes!) that hopefully will bring joy to your ears. to his aid lay-far has invited an impressive cast of collaborators such as ashley beedle & darren morris, restless soul, sean mccabe & mark de clive-lowe to give the tracks that little extra something under the watchful eye of lay-far himself. or as lay-far describes it himself the album is about the music as the universal language, the ultimate means of communication, bringing people of the world together. part 2 will be released in the new year...
