nadanna proudly presents its new project, the canadian synthpop act techniques berlin! formed in 1984 by high school buddies andreas gregor and david rout, the band started experimenting with synthesizers, drum machines and guitars. in the early stages, techniques berlin was heavily influenced by uk new romantic acts like japan, spandau ballet, visage, the human league, orchestral manoeuvres in the dark, yazoo and depeche mode as well as rising canadian synthpop bands rational youth (dave became a member in 1998/99), men without hats and trans-x. it took them a few years to master their electronic toys and create a unique blend of addictive electropop melodies and beautifully crafted alternative beats.

while bringing the antidigital s four-fold path to completion, v.i.t.r.i.o.l. squares the symbolic structure of the series by focusing with conceptual precision and musical elegance the heaviest of elements within the alchemic cycle: water. both adaptable and erosive, essence and abyss, the paramount fluid is an archetype of metamorphosis. constantly attempting to overtake every obstacle towards the gravitational center, pervading and transmuting the earth by transforming itself, water eternally conquers the depths where it still serves as origin, nest and nourishment of life. like a torrent, v.i.t.r.i.o.l. tells and embodies the sublimating descent of water, taking shape as a pouring of micro-tonal falls, opening passageways through a radiant narration of deep intimate soundscapes. framing a sequence of almost religious experiments in circuit manipulation and digital-processing of the resulting electrical sound-fields, the short album signs the important inspirational contribution by drøp to dromoscope antidigital project. enchanting second outcome by sound designer giuseppe bifulco, v.i.t.r.i.o.l. resonates clearly of a post-modern electronic shamanism, a fascinating musical vision interpreting sound as a physiological trigger and music itself as a therapeutic instrument, a path for an interior empty-set (ø) capable to free consciousness from rational domain and reconnect it to deeper natural truths. like a map for the descent, v.i.t.r.i.o.l. engraves its own name and structure with one of the most substantial hermetic aphorisms ever, -visita interiora terrae rectificando invenies occultum lapidem-, dropping a hint and pointing a destination for the healing research of the truth: the unknown interiors of the world, the subterranean unveiled inner self.

docile 27 is a mesh of simple harmony, rational rhythm, and vocal non-sense. each release brings a deeper dimension to the concept of docile. docile relies on unconventional bass lines that move a stripped down funk through drunken tones. vocal clips pop and yip inside the 4/4 time. clean edits and effects bind and define the relevance of each ingredient. dociles mission is to tease out a style of minimal that is neglected by a distracted world.

the cocoon recordings very own inhouse compilation series dots and pearls is back once again and takes us on a tour to the expected sounds of the upcoming spring season. frankfurt based christian burkhardt starts the selection of four exclusive and previously unreleased tracks. his -karambolage- breathes spring air and creates an early summer feeling par excellence. this tune will even turn gray and rainy april weather into bright sunlight. on spot with playful and positive harmonies and a very subtle 80 s synthie-pop flavour. this one here definitely makes us want more! next in line is argy, one of our most long standing cocoon recordings artists. his -how late it was, how late- has an undeniable 80s retro charm, too however it follows a completely different direction than burkhardts -karambolage-. this one refers strongly to an early 80s acid sound and reminds us of great productions such as -on and on- by jesse saunders. we cannot tell how far argy s reminiscences goes back but for the ones who know: -how late it was, how late- will bring you back to the great times of labels like rams horn and their rational youth s -dancing on the berlin- wall. brave and surprising at the same time and above all: -übercool-! with -baroon- by markus fix follows another acid track - however, this one has a far more epic flavour full of warm analogue strings and based on a hypnotic arrangement. fix -baroon- is defintely less retro than argys and burkhardts contributions - a deep tech house gem made for the first sunrises of the upcoming allnighter open airs. with -euphrasia- jim jules accelerates slightly but goes also deeper at the same time. his production follows the cinematic mood of markus fix but paints a darker picture. this one takes us on an intensive musical journey. deep, slightly gloomy and extremely hypnotic, -euphrasia- is almost captivating and bewitching and a perfect conclusion for this highly diversified fourtracker.

the story begins somewhere far away from awareness and rational thought. our main characters plays the roles of lost but not aimless arrows of pictures. pictures made out of sub atomic movements, amplified through breathable air and finally fragmenting its energy into space. we see the the sun go down in the ocean, the purple and red colors and finally the majestic sight of whales plowing the water in the horizon. it has been many years, in fact, so many years that we are now back again to the same point time. it is like an infinite loop, never loosing pace and determination.
