following the massive buzz a round the labels last release (voted the record of 2017 by some 400+ international djs and tastemakers on bill brewster s dj history podcast/poll (2017 furtive 50), hobbes music kicks off 2018 with a heavy slice of warehouse techno backed with deeper electro flavours, a second double-a-side 12inch outing by the anonymous dali. you may remember dali (nb all caps in the spelling) released a debut 12inch around this time last year. support came from ben ufo, laurent garnier, domenic cappello (sub club), john heckle, chris duckenfield, the revenge, tom findlay (groove armada), sean johnston and xdb (among others) and a repress happened swiftly, with laurent garnier and avalon emersonalso supporting most recently (on wwfm and at berghain, respectively). dali has a passion for analogue synths, abstract, hypnotic dance music and all things psychedelic. don t bother looking her up on the net, social media etc. dali is eschewing all that, to let the music do the talking for now

the ideological inspirer of slowdance � michael dop is making his debut on the label under a new name finetune. each composition comprises breathing groove and atmospheric melodies. the whole release conveys and emphasizes the mood and versatility of the musician, while the cover represents him as an artist.

this is a brand new artist/act called dali. dali has a passion for analogue synths, abstract, hypnotic dance music and all things psychedelic. don�t bother looking her up on the net, social media etc. dali is eschewing all that, to let the music do the talking for now

this is toma kamis first release on his own label man band. the imprints name derives from the well known one man band expression and aims to focus on the correlation between this statement and the process of making electronic music as one person. the result is a record with 4 singularly different tracks, blending cosmic and percussive sounds in a variety of styles, and featuring the bewitching voices of bulgarian women on the title track dali bear which has had the most support so far.

alex the fairy returns to finders fee with rusty blade tears, the second record of three. the first track, a 4/4 kick blindly barging through an arcade is followed by a bathtub riding down the motorway in a dali-esque landscape. on the b-side, an angry cordless phone precedes some rusty ice cubes in arctic water. finder�s fee is a label for found sounds, found melodies and found rhythms.

much anticipated re-release of the only album by the south african disco funk outfit. incl the track picnic (moger). very strong from start to finish. so groovy.

this album is a collaboration between labels kontra-musik and kess kill. what would have become of d.a.f. if they had been signed to trojan instead of mute back in the day add a good pinch of absurdism and social realism in the vein of prized film director roy andersson and vanligt folk might just be the answer. the gothenburg groups name can be translated to common people and they make use of primitive electronics, drums and skewed vocals - ranging from harsh social commentary to the purely nonsensical - to create their own take on body music. hambo is the name of a traditional swedish folk dance that was highly popular among the common people at the turn of the last century. with this album, vanligt folk juxtaposes the working class dance phenomena of hambo with modern day rave culture. this is done in the most blasphemous manner thinkable, as is the way of vanligt folk. concepts like nationalism, race and tradition are all treated with the same merry lack of reverence. the only thing that needs to be respected is the dance and those who take part in it, whether accompanied by accordions or drum machines. or both.

nachdem er sich mit sir coxsone, dem legendären chef des kingstoner labels studio one, zerstritten hatte, gründete lee perry zuerst seine eigene band und dann, 1973, im hinterhof ein eigenes studio. was aus der not geboren wurde, entwickelte sich zu einer einzigartigen erfolgsgeschichte. sowohl mit den upsetters als auch dem black ark schrieb perry musikgeschichte, insbesondere durch das 1976 veröffentlichte -super ape--album, auf dem er gewissermaßen das genre dub auf unbekannte weise aus dem mischpult brodeln ließ. für perry ist das studio wie ein lebewesen. ob er es wirklich so empfindet, oder einfach nur zu viel ganja in rauch aufgehen lässt, aber bei perry ist das equipment organisch, empathisch und intelligent. der clou: so hören sich die resultate auch an! lange bevor man das sampling erfunden hatte, schichtete er tonspuren aus tiefen bässen, echos und hall mit diversen, selbst aufgenommenen, gerne rückwärts laufenden klangsequenzen auf-, in- und übereinander. heißt: perry war der erste produzent, der anstatt der band die musik machte. das brachte ihm unter anderem den titel salvador dalí des dub ein. dass der Über-80-jährige bis heute nichts von seiner experimentierfreude verloren hat, zeigt der mit dem new yorker subatomic sound system besorgte re-edit seines meilensteins.

fractions eschew biographical identity in their debut release for berlin s fleisch records. a potent mix of ebm, techno, breakbeat, electro, acid and horror- soundtrack provides only a title, control , s&m leaning artwork that seems to reference dali s in voluptas mors and a one-line manifesto: make dead dance.

as always, in ciao fellini philosophy we required authenticity and groove to go back for a little while into the milano da bere years! with a 2016 sound of the milano to avoid . enjoy it but more importantly, dance!

der titel *shelter* beschreibt die wahrnehmung und anschließende emotionale resonanz auf eine sammlung von klängen und motiven. lieferten moirés bisherige veröffentlichungen bereits fragmente dieses gesamtkonzepts, stellt *shelter* diese vision in gänze vor. die verschmelzung von motiven früherer arbeiten und neuer produktionen komplettiert die idee und zeigt moiré außerhalb gewöhnlicher muster experimentierend. das ergebnis ist unerwartet, roh und dynamisch und spornt dazu an, sich musikalisch und physisch auf die erfahrung einzulassen. *shelter* schafft eine parallele situation zwischen dem künstler, der die grenzen seines mediums erkundet, und dem zuhörer, der das gehörte individuell interpretiert. man folgt der einladung gerne, sich in den persönlichen und ehrlichen klangmustern von moiré fallen zu lassen.

brill groovin / hypnotic minimal romanian style

antime a young berlin based label founded by martin steer (frittenbude / pandoras box / midimum) presents the v2 compilation, the first official vinyl release from a crew that has devoted itself to the different genres and varieties in electronic music for quite some time.

alex and bill met 16 years ago when bill signed one of alex s first productions (is this the rhythm? by rhythmnvibe) to a new york label he was running. alex, whose father lives in the us, was a regular visitor to the states and they sent many happy hours together hanging out at the sound factory bar and comparing maw dubs. when bill returned to the uk in 1996, they had a few sessions together making house music, though neither of them can remember why they never finished anything or, indeed, what became of the tracks. fast forward a few years and they finally got back into the studio to make sweet music together under the moniker hotel motel. since then they have created a rich seam of work that some have already described as, like salvador dali with his pants down being fellated by deirdre barlow. few would disagree.

deacon is the salvador dali of electro... a refreshing example of someone rewriting rules of music as he goes along the guardian by now youll know baltimores dan deacon. dubbed >oddball< by many, >inspired< by more hes one guy treading many thin lines - confidently straddling between nutjob and genius, downright brilliant and insanely mind-bending, and with a live show from another world inducing more audience participation than a seriously skewed pantomime. the label amazing sounds has brought together kindred spirits hudson mohawke, allez-allez and luke abbott to create a rich and varied ep which mirrors dan deacons rich and varied music. this is only the second release on amazing sounds, the first being a 12inch of remixes from the krautrock classic harmonia & eno 76 album tracks & traces (with remixes from shackleton and appleblim & komonazmuk). this next vinyl release is a one time only pressing of 500 copies
