luv shack records 26th release marks the return of vienna based artist and label regular lesale. the baguette magique ep packs three punchy original tracks plus a remix by deep disco don and vienna resident roman rauch. first off, there s the original version of baguette magique , an uplifting dance opus carried by a tantalising disco sample, a plethora of bleeps and synthetic patterns, evolving into a cosmic, almost-techno piece in the second half. roman rauch s remix takes out the tempo and the quirkiness of baguette magique , instead opting for a laid back 80s tropical groove, turning the original theme into an insanely deep and obscure chord sequence. on the flip, lesale takes things to disco territory with percussive drums, a cheeky filtered sample and a hyperactive synth bass sequence on house rules . jungle breeze wraps up the release, offering a hazy mix of deep pads, tribal drums and oddball flute samples.

89:ghost is on fire at present, having thrown down killer releases from todd sines, logic system and tomoki tamura over the past year. tommy vicari jnr is a great addition to the roster, bringing a freaky, wobbly and distinctly hi tech approach on all that matters that will have party people freaking out in a whole new way. things at night takes a completely different approach with its focus on delicately chopped up piano hooks. tlk 2 me wt yr bdy flips the script yet again with a roughneck, ardcore sound palette and some filtered house elements riding atop a booming low end. likely story finishes this varied ep off with a cheeky garage house strut that will have just as many fans as the other killer jams on this well rounded record.

in their fifth release, dc label partial magic welcomes four friends and producers from the knoxville, tennessee based collective teknox. alex falk opens the record with an upbeat slammer, looping cocky vocal samples over brash, noisy textures sure to please those familiar with his sound. second on the a side, saint thomas ledoux follows with an introspective track perfect for building or releasing dancefloor tension. on the b side, nikki nair brings back the raunch with a cheeky breaks-and-bleeps acid track. dialectic sines closes out the record with an ethereal cut backed by a hypnotic, tropical electro-techno groove.

it s been a while since we last heard from flord king, who has popped up on junk yard connections as well as regularly featuring on lyssna. it s the latter label he returns to now, and he s got some focused, stripped down club fare to impart. -el klassiko- is a shuffling, funky minimal house jam with some wriggling melodies and a subby bass throb, while -avocado in blue- does a quirkier turn with some crafty synth flex that really stands out from the crowd. -bob- too is a distinctive cut with some detailed layers of dubby ripples and errant computer debris quivering and shaking over the mellow pads and steady beat. -deep diff- twists out some cheeky bass and an overall emotive mood that ends the record on a poignant tip.

waxwing pops up on re-fix with a crafty, chopped up soulful house approach that will sit right with fans of max graef and felix lenferink. -can you- is a summery jam with plenty of sliced and diced vocals and romantic sweeps of melody, while -longfunk- gets a cheeky shuffle in the mix with splashy drum hits and nifty rhodes stabs to get bodies popping uncontrollably. -do it for em- gets even twitchier in the edit, using all kinds of heavily funked up samples to create a killer groove. -stand it- takes a more classic new jersey approach without losing that instinct for crafty twirls and curls to spice the mix up.
