we all know that when it’s a real vibe you can’t go wrong. if you add talent and hearth to that you got gunpowder for pure bangers. and that’s exactly what we at hoga nord rekord wanted to accomplish with the sixth release of our uk 12 inch series. consequently we contacted jo howard from sunderland in the north east of england. as a producer and dj he uses the alias bird of paradise. smoking weekend is the name of the four track ep.

nyc based producer and head honcho of the (in)famous, wall of fame, label, makes the trek to texas for whiskey pickle records third shot on their new minted vinyl series. his groovy brand of sampled house and disco has leant classy tracks to many a release on his home turf, but its rare that the beat smith venture into uncharted territories with his prized compositions. the folks at whiskey pickle must have liqoured up the ole boy up in order to finagle such a delightful ep out of him, and thankfully, us boppers are to benefit! water, the a1 opener kicks off with some chunky drums and an uptempo chug as layers of percussion and dancefloor onomonpea s create a bed for the piano driven groove to unfold... a scorcher! move inward for dont wanna be and the tempo drops dramatically. a hypnotic, looped beat gets a syrupy bass riff and cavernous funk-claps until the gorgeous, mono-synth lines appear and carry us to utter ecstasy! flip it over for moods, a track that is as lovely and emotional as it s title suggests. the vibes sampling and superlative drum programming create an exceptional, dreamy frame work for the groover... perfect for opening sets or a much needed, dancefloor breather. lastly, your dance snips some familiar territory into a perfect energy builder with beefed up muscles, perfect for modern heads. watch out for the mighty horn stabs and flanger flourishes, they re gonna prove to be deadly!

a 10 track slowdive into the sinuous distraction of love that is at one time, and however briefly or not, owned or desired by every breather to walk their years until dust. simple movements in synthesis provide currency for this forray of dark electropop, layered in poetic intrusions that tip a brim to william wordsworth, henry miller and dylan thomas as they ripple out in their own visceral style and intergrity.

after the sublime releases of parts 1 and 2 from b.j. smiths between ship and shore 3 part ep series, we take a breather before we get to the final part to bring you these selections from japanese jazz and electronic music legend, ryo kawasaki... we have gone through ryo s extensive catalogue to bring you a section of what we consider are his finest works, but to be honest we could have easily added 20 more to this list. take a small journey through the amazing repertoire of ryo with the 5 tracks that take in sublime jazz through to out there electronic vibes.

red ember records is still legendary in certain circles despite shutting up shop 15 years ago. after some time out of the public eye, though, ewan jansen himself is still very much in business, and here he is with four brand new cuts on his debut for chez damier’s inner balance label. after the appropriately pastoral intro to ‘harvest’ we dive headlong into a flurry of vibrant, detroit-influenced programming of the kind kept alive all these years by rei loci and kirk degiorgio. ‘sines of life’ takes a well-earned breather on the flip, its laid-back setting and all-enveloping bass a massage for the weary body and soul. finally the mood turns playful on ‘square dance’, the chopped, breaksy and off-key groove completely at home alongside uk technicians norken, herbert and ben nevile. it’s rare for people to stay on their game for this long but, as this ep aptly demonstrates, ewan jansen is no ordinary musician.

here at nang towers we are really happy to have back slovenian talent sare havlicek, without any doubt one of our favourite producers, and to present you all his latest creation *movies for lovers*. sometimes we like to try something a bit different. often the process of creating an album can be a not-so-simple task: which tracks are the singles? which is the breather track? do we have ten songs? have we covered all the bases? the list goes on. sometimes the answer is to throw convention out the window and just try to harness a burst of energy and get it down on eighteen minutes-a-side of vinyl. we gave sare the following brief: lock yourself in a studio for four weeks and come up with a piece of cohesive work. abandon the formulas, do some experimenting and (most importantly) try some things you wouldnt normally do. *movies for lovers* is the result of that session and encapsulates the feeling of the journey sare embarked on to bring you this album.

off the back of the success of audens first hotflush ep, the enigmatic alias returns to scubas label with another hard hitting four-tracker, wall to wall. lock in throws you in headfirst - fast-paced drum loops layered with slices of jarring techno and a driving bassline that would be welcomed on the darkest dancefloors. utopian, initially a more languid cut, juxtaposes an almost cerebral landscape with hard hitting percussion, only allowing the listener a short breather before hurtling back in with perisheds swirling synths and trippy electronic jabs. ending on xirox, auden crafts a slightly more down-tempo cut, boasting a catchy groove that only gets better with each listen. whoever auden may or may not be, one thing is for certain – hes carving his place deep in technos panorama.

in what will certainly be ranked as one of his most intriguing releases so far, kompakt staple matias aguayo not only takes a quick breather from his commitment to cómeme, but also opens up fresh and exciting paths for him to explore with his music: legende is both the continuation and alteration of matias well-established aesthetic canon, drawing from all stages in his production career und ultimately synthesizing various sonic strains into a wholly new listening experience
