harlem s legendary disco label queen constance has long been a cult favourite among fans of underground dance music for decades. one of many labels operating under the equally legendary p&p family of imprints queen constance was operated by one peter brown, a truly colossal figure in nyc s music scene, it s catalogue still fascinates music lovers to this day. covering a wide range of styles including gospel, early rap and disco the label s output continually finds it way into the playlists of respected dj s and selectors across the globe. licky & the dream lovers massive afro-disco groove african rock is the next in a fully licensed series of queen constance rarities to be repressed. licky seems to be yet another studio group put together by peter brown in order to explore different sounds and styles. this raucous piece of uptempo, blazing disco really does the business in the dance, a truly immense club record, which is not surprising considering brown is at the helm. ridiculous funk on this one. across 2 sides we are treated to 2 slightly different versions of the cut, both equally as good, you could literally put the needle on the record, let it spin and watch it do damage. this one is an essential, a truly sought after record that commands extremely high prices on the used market when it shows up, but rarity aside, it is an absolute bomb and deserves to be in any self-respecting disco jocks bag of tricks. this is a 100% legit reissue, made in conjunction with above board distribution and the demon music group, lovingly remastered with love by optimum mastering, bristol uk.

2018 repress ... well. where do we start with deep inside ? originally released in the golden nyc house era of 1993, this 5 tracker literally smashed everything in sight. and still does now! the epitome of an evergreen, all-time classic release. masters at work louie vega and kenny dope were on a major roll in this era, producing, remixing, dj-ing and everything in-between, these guys put in ridiculous work. they are joined on this ep by a roll-call of names and collaborators, erick morillo engineering the title track? check. maurice joshua on co-production duties? you got it. vocals by ms. barbara tucker? they re there. killer, rock hard drums? stacks of soul? masterfully chopped up disco samples? all present. serious stuff. sometimes a record just manages to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and deep inside is one such record, it bears all the hallmarks of golden era maw, all the signposts of what was happening in nyc s clubs in the early to mid 90 s were there within it s grooves. you know a record is good when it s still being, quite literally, hammered nearly 25 years later! now, remastered, and reissued with the full involvement of strictly rhythm this seminal piece of nyc house history is made available again with all original, full sleeve artwork intact as per the 1993 original. this one s a straight up essential for any self-respecting dance aficionado. you know what to do!

it sounds ridiculous to state that this is efdemins best release so far on curle, when you realise thats the artist that brought us classics like acid bells and america... but the whole ep truly is amazing from start to finish. all tracks feature efdemins brand new second mix-album called naïf.

a quartet of heavy reworks. reginald omas mamode iv truly does what he does best, bringing a percussive, low-slung funk to one of the most ethereal and beautiful pieces of soul on the album, sunshine. glenn astro, elevates bossa b to a jostling, bouncing shuffler that eventually turns around and heads skyward with uplifting chords and irresistible bass. deoke heads into the darker regions of the original for his hugely loved remix of bossa b. the bass on this one is ridiculous and has caused damage to a couple of sound systems were aware of (genuinely). finally the ever exceptional mr beatnick simply took the stereo track for kalimba 2 and edited it into a mind-opening dub. handling bass and harmonics as only he can, a true highlight of this high quality remix package.

hey campers, we are back with some new goodies for you! this one is by the completely virginal duo death bulb, who have never released a single track before, which is quite ridiculous as they have been producing this stuff since 2012. this is simply some of the best industrial noise techno around! it starts out with the title track zement, a total dancefloor killer that still gives me goosebumps after hearing it about a million times. you will eat this up! second on the a side is breathe in, breed out, a hilariously rough beatdown with lots of heavy breathing involved - slays it every time! ultraviolence never felt so enjoyable! the b side starts out with a rare guest appearance of label daddy hanno hinkelbein who donated a remix of zement for you people who like straightforward techno. lots of heavy bass and a crunchy ravepad, driven by relentless percussion. the vinyl ends with the broken banger bettina’s betrayal - noise at it’s finest, somewhere between i-f’s “i do because i couldn’t care less...” and old afx.

mancini and the creepers is a much needed breath of fresh air that really turned my week around from being horrendous to unreal! with the ridiculous vocal stylings of mancini throwing down some truly unorthodox rhythm, along with the unreal british-accented lyrics, this crew is pure entertainment in my mind. the rapping is done over the production crew, consisting of tommy tempa and frank law’s, beats and is put together in a great package.

tasty treats, another side project of the multi-talented ronald burrell dropped this 4 track ep way back in 1993 on the cult citi label out of nyc. as expected the tracks contained within have all the facets of that magical burrell sound healthy doses of soul, sleaze, deepness, late night atmosphere and that solid, no nonsense ny/nj house attitude, for the heads, the dancers, the all nighters and the freaks! this is pure shelter/garage joy! the burrell brothers back catalog is just ridiculous in terms of releases, styles and quality control and this ep sits comfortably up there with some of their classics. an all round solid ep for all true house music lovers regardless of area code or geography! %100 legit re-issue, re-mastered and brought back for the summer 2015 flex - dont snooze!

if you re going to beat em down, you need the right tools. on the label s second release, grimy trax has given you a couple hammers. the a-side, dejay cease s the fixer is straight chicago. we re talking banging 909 funk that might be found buried on a particularly unhinged ron hardy mix. a simple bass line and two notes of acid are all it takes to make the floor go wild. this is functional heat with enough atmosphere to engage the mind, body and soul. on the b-side, rising chicago son boogienite proves he s earned the hype. boy, ok is an instant classic thanks to some recognizable disco strings and a funky escalator of a bassline. the producer uses a trippy, rubberband synth which eventually turns into rhythmic, teasing vocal. the mixdown is ridiculous, especially as the lengthy track passes the halfway mark. boogie brings the bassline in and out in between beautiful ambient rhodes and a call and response male and female vocal. those strings hit again and you feel no pain.
