after previously releasing starship commander woooo woooos mastership lp, left ear records have continued excavating the archives of the artist more formally known as omer coleman jr. the result is two handpicked mid 80’s instrumentals salvaged from the original master tapes, as well as an extended vocal edit on the flip for good measure. after laying his alter ego to rest omer made a handful of electronic releases on his own kansas based remo label. of these releases left ear has selected their two favourite instrumentals: lovin babe sure is fun and so good. lovin babe sure is fun was originally released in 85 and was created to celebrate a time in america where the economy was good, people were happy and love was in the air, the essence of which omer captured using his roland 808 and 303 in what may best be described as acid-boogie. so good on the other hand is a sensual downtempo cut shaped with heavy-bass, telephone samples and guitar solos that conjures images of late night rendezvous and compromising scenarios.

for over five years, all day i dream has been where deep and emotive meet house music. propelled by a community of forward thinking artists drawn around the scion of master curator and sunset/sunrise set specialist, lee burridge. all day i dream formally welcomes lost desert to the label with the release of lingala, a two-track collaborative effort with burridge himself, that also features junior on vocals. lost desert was picked out of obscurity after burridge discovered his music while trekking in a remote area of a long lost land. a fast forged friendship inevitably lead to the studio, and lingala’s the enrapturing sophomore result. the duo’s first project together debuted on lee’s night time imprint, get weird, earlier this year to widespread support. lingala, is a beautifully composed ten-minute sonic journey. built around a mystical lead vocal sung by newcomer junior in his native linagles the raw emotion slowly builds in intensity over propulsive basslines and deep melodic grooves . gorje hewek & izhevski’s interpretation of lingala is a markedly different affair. focussing on musical layers rather than the vocal the duo’s signature spacey atmospheres and minimal rhythmic percussion add extra strings creating uplifting moments that contrast the original’s mood.

alr001 is tech-house based track features one late-night club cut of pure, padded brilliance. the original mix is a meditative, as it blissfully sways between softly thumping bass and euphoric synth snippets. hamburg based well known dj cess (formally from also known from cocoon booking) re-edited the track for dj s with a male spoken monologue that, despite being a tad pretentious, actually kind of weirdly works. fittingly, its the most dance floor appropriate of the bunch and would slip nicely into a bleary-eyed, 6am sunrise set.

disco bloodbath recordings latest is the debut solo release from one of the founders and original residents of the disco bloodbath clubnights, dan beaumont - formally of production duo jam factory and the man behind london venues dalston superstore and the newly opened dance tunnel. reality checkpoint is an atmospheric mid-tempo house chugger based around judicious use of samples and a slight dub-reggae sensibility to the groove. the original is accompanied by two alternate versions - one from neville watson, which pushes the track into club territory, and one from dan himself, which strips things back, further accentuating the tracks dub overtones.

one night stand is jam factorys third release, a collaboration with new york-based vocalist mattie safer (formally of the rapture) over two 12 inches. this first 12 inch features the original version - a piano-driven chicago style anthem with heavy drums and a touch of acid. mattie delivers a classic house performance in his own instantly recognisable style. on the flip are two different dubs, one an incessant barrage of pianos, the other a thick slice of acid. this release is only available on vinyl.
